Hello!
Today is my guest DT day at AALL & Create and this time I have made a mixed media mini plaque. I created an underwater scene with the beautiful seahorse from Bipasha BK's stamp set, # 390 Sea Life, as the focal image.
Since the seahorse has a lot of line detail, it appears quite dark when stamped, so I made my background paler that usual in shades od blue and green and sand.
The piece has lots of dimension from the cheesecloth, the art stones and the image being raised on foam tape.
Look at the beautiful markings on the seahorse - this is such a detailed stamped image. Can you see the hidden sentiment, 'your thoughts, feelings, sensations are waves'. The light caused some glare on the Glossy Accents of the seahorse.
Around the tail of the seahorse are the words, 'The beauty and mystery of the ocean.
How I made it:
1. I stamped the seahorse, the bubbles and the sea plants onto mixed media card using Versafine Clair inks, so that they would stay in place when I used watercolour next.
2. The background was given a wash of green and blue watercolours for the sea and brown, orange and ochre for the sand.
3. Texture was added to the sand using the Circled Number stamp and Desert Sand Memento ink.
4. Some more circles from Roundly were stamped in grey.
5. Crackle paste was applied through the Lotza Dotz stencil.
6. Strips of cheesecloth and art stones were adhered with matte medium.
7. The seahorse was stamped and coloured with Inktense watercolour pencils, then clear heat embossed. It was added to the plaque on foam tape.
8. The edges were inked with Broken China and Chipped Sapphire.
9. The plaque was assembled and extra cloth and stones placed on the base.
10. The sentiment was inked and adhered.
