Hello
It's February and we have a new customer challenge over at the Gecko Galz blog.
The theme this month is Flights of Fantasy.
As always, we also have the monthly card challeng.e, the monthly Christmas Image Challenge, the monthly Stamp Challenge, an ATC challenge, a Steampunk challenge and a Gothic Challenge on the blog, as well as 4 Facebook challenges. These can be accessed by the tabs at the top of the main blog page. We also have the quarterly challenge where this time we're asking you to make a jewellery project.
We hope you can find some time to join in the fun.
The winner of the Customer challenge will get a $25 Gecko Galz Etsy Store voucher and the runner up a $12 voucher. There are plenty of free Gecko Galz images if you don't already own any. Each blog post has a free image to collect and, if you sign up for the monthly newsletter, there is the chance to claim a free collage set each month. Also if you make any purchase of $2 or more you receive a free image.

Here is what I made as inspiration for the Customer Challenge.
It is a small Pinwheel Tower booklet featuring beautiful air balloons and some dreamy inspirational sentiments.
There is a step by step guide at the bottom of this post.
Here it is stood up:
The structure is nice and sturdy with the base made from 250gsm card. It is a simple structure, but looks quite effective, I think.
It has eight pages and, once opened, the left hand page has a pocket and some die cut patterned paper tags along with a quote from the Simple Encouragements sentiment set whilst the right hand page has a beautiful image from the Flights of Fantasy collage set and a die cut border.
The booklet will flatten and the pages can be turned..
Here are the pages:
I used lovely paper from a Deco Time design paper pack - it has some sparkle, but not too much. I thought the greens and pinks would complement the images.
The pockets are die cut, as are the tags.
Step by step:
1. Cut a piece of card for the centre tower.
I cut mine to measure 4.25 x 4.5 inches.
Score at 1, 2, 3 and 4 inches along the side and fold to form the 4.5 inch tall tower, using the 0.25 inch tab to glue and secure in place.
2. Cut 4 pieces of card for the pages. They need to be the same height as the tower, so mine are 4.5 x 3.75 inches
3. Adhere the pages - one to each side of the tower.
4. Add patterned paper to the pages (or if you prefer, colour the pages with inks or paints).
5. To make a pocket on the left side pages, cut a piece of card (I used die borders to give fancy edges). Carefully adhere to the page along both sides and along the bottom. Die cut tags or journal cards with co-ordinating papers to tuck inside the pocket and add a sentiment or another image.
6. Add the images to the left side of the right hand page so that they do not peek out when the previous pages are opened.
Here are the Gecko Galz products I used:
That's all for now!
Do come and join us!
