Gecko Galz: YeeHaw

 Hello

It's my DT day at the Gecko Galz blog.  

The customer challenge theme this month is Guts, Glitz and Lipstick.

As always, we have free images to download to make projects to enter the Card Challenge, the Christmas Image Challenge, the Fantasy Challenge, an ATC challenge, a Steampunk Challenge and a Gothic Challenge,. The free images can be accessed by the tabs at the top of the main blog page. We also have a quarterly challenge on the blog.

Here is what I made - first up is a cowgirl Pocket Letter made up of 9 ATCs:

I haven't made a pocket letter in quite a few years - at one time I used to trade them on a regular basis and I really enjoyed the process. Looking for something else, I came across a folder full of the clear plastic, pocket letter sheets and that's what inspired me to make one.

Here I used kraft card as my ATC base and adhered a rectangle of wood-look patterned paper (from my stash) which had all four edges distressed.

A few collage sheets were used for the cowgirl images - I chose the larger head shot ones and had some of my girls leaning outside the frames.

The denim frames and pocket are from the Ride 'Em Cowgirl Kit. I love the stitched frames and the stars. I made the denim pocket (below) into a shaker ATC.

I made an altered notebook:

The gorgeous cowgirl image is from Glam on the Range and the roses background paper is from Red Bird Way - the January Kit Club set. The brown paper is from the Ride Em Cowgirl Kit. I added hemp trim and metal star studs, along with a typed quote.

* Gecko Galz: Gnomes at Home

 Hello

This month at the Gecko Galz Facebook Group our ATC swap is Gnomes at Home.

We are given the digital collage sheets to make the ATCs, but can add to in any way we please.

I had fun making this mini pocket letter with my 3 ATCs.

Here is the complete mini pocket letter:

And this is what it looks like when the ATCs are taken out:

The ATCs are pretty basic, but the gnomes are popped on foam for dimension. I added some die cut grass to the bottom and some puffy flower stickers. Tiny glitter dots and Stickles complete the background, along with some Small Talk sentiment stickers.

The plastic wallet has layered dies added in the form of acorns and toadstools. Two die cut branches were also added to the top of each pocket. 

To finish it, I added a polka dot ribbon and a tiny gnome charm.

I couldn't resist this little Christmas tree gnome ornament, so I include him in my package along with a gnome card.

* Gecko Galz: Bump in the Night 2

Hello everyone!

Today is my turn to share a couple of projects that I've made using amazing Gecko Galz papercraft products.

This month our customer challenge theme is 

''Bump In The Night". There are still a few days left if you would like to enter the challenge and have the chance to win a $25 shop coupon!

Here is a Pocket Letter I made:

For the ATC backgrounds, I used a selection of digital papers from the Never More Paper Pack and the Freak Show Paper Pack. Images were selected and fussy cut from these collage sets: Bump in the Night, Haunted Ephemera, Day of The Dead, Altered Halloween, Vintage Halloween, Witches. Some images were glued directly onto the backing paper, whilst some were popped on foam pads for dimension, with a small scrap of cheesecloth behind. 

Here is a closer look at each row:

Next I made an Edgar Allan Poe and The Raven card. The background paper is from the Never More Paper pack. The raven and book stack were cut from a second image and popped on foam pads along with the image of Poe from Bump in The Night. I printed part of the first line from the poem to add as a sentiment along with the Halloween Greetings from an image on the Halloween Magic collage sheet.

Vera Lane Studio: Journal Faces Pocket Letter

Hello!

Today I'm sharing a DT project for Vera Lane Studio.  

This beautiful new set of digital stamps, called Journal Faces, is released today and in the Vera Lane Studio Facebook Group you have the chance to win a set.




For my DT project I decided to make a Pocket Letter.



I started by making a mixed media masterboard from A4 heavy card. I clear embossed some text using a Kaisercraft ' Script' stamp, then used a blending tool to add Distress Inks in Scattered Straw, Shaded Lilac and Evergreen Bough.  Next I applied some texture paste through a Dylusions 'Chequered Circles' stencil and finally some fine white and black paint splatters. 

The card was cut into 9 ATC-sized pieces (6.5cm x 9cm) and the edges inked in Vintage Photo.

The images are from a selection of Vera Lane sets, but the focal points are the newly released Journal Faces. The images were coloured with alcohol pens and then fussy cut. They were adhered directly onto the ATCs and embellishments such as glitter tape, tiny gems and lace were added. Heart of Gold Prills were added to the centre of the flowers, Glossy Accents to the bird's rain boots and a strip of bling was added to the spine.

And here are the four Journal Faces - aren't they beautiful?  I try to imagine what each one is thinking....

  
  

I thought that maybe they could represent the four stages in a woman's life, although none of them look particularly 'old'!  I like to think I'm still at 'stage 3', although I need to admit that I'm fast approaching 'stage 4'!!!

Gecko Galz: Alice's Tea Party - Pocket Letter

Hello!

 It's the start of a brand new month and time to post my  DT inspiration for the monthly customer challenge at Gecko Galz.

This month our customer challenge theme is Alice's Tea Party.

 I made a Pocket Letter:



Pocket Letters are basically 9 ATCs in a baseball trading card folder. The front features the art work and the back holds small craft gifts that the recipient can use in future projects. 
(I haven't completed the back yet, but if you come back on the 26th of the month, it will be ready!)
  
How to make the pocket letter:

1.  Cut 9 ATC cards, measuring 6.5 cm by 9 cm each, from heavy card stock. 
2.  Use a glue stick to adhere the paper background to the card. 
I used 'Tweedledee' and 'Tweedledum' papers from the Wonderland Paper Pack. To add some interest and dimension, I fussy cut some of the diamonds into strips and used them as complimentary edging to the cards. Ink the card edges.
3.  Fussy cut some elements from the digital collage sets; ink the edges and, if you so wish, pop onto the cards on foam pads.
I used the Ask Alice collage set.
4.  Pop the cards into the folder. Ad wash tape to the spine and add ribbon/embellishments to finish it off.
