* Vera Lane Studio: Daisy and Wink

Hello!

Only last week I was mentioning a sunny days trip to the seaside and summer clothes, whereas this week we've had rain, rain, more rain and wind - yes ... Storm Hannah hit the UK and, according to the Met Office, she battered the west (where I live).

Today I have a card to share for my DT day at Vera Lane Studio. There is a brand new release today called Daisy and Wink - an adorable digi set comprising of two quirky girls and two sentiments. I made my card with Wink:

I coloured Wink with Copic markers and added some white highlights. She is popped on a Distress Oxide background made by dipping, dabbing and drying between colours (Peeled Paint, Broken China and Fossilised Amber). Water droplets bleached out some of the colours, then some text and flower stamping were added. The edges of the background were inked with Broken China, Black Soot and finally Ranger Jet Black. Washi tape grounds my girl. I cut one of the sentiments into strips and inked with Black Soot. It is attached directly to the background. One of the suns from the Sunshine Collage sheet was added as a finishing touch in the top corner.

* Colour Crazy: Summer Puppy

Hello!

Today sees the start of a new colouring challenge at the Colour Crazy Challenge Blog. The challenge is always Anything Goes, but of course your card must feature some colouring: use any medium you wish. This week Fabrika Fantasy is the sponsor.

I was lucky to receive a digi stamp to work with and I chose Summer Puppy. Here is my card:

I coloured this cute puppy with Copic markers and gave him a glossy nose and shiny eyes with Glossy Accents. His background is Fossilised Amber Distress Oxide inked through a hexagonal stencil. The white card is also edged in this ink. The puppy, flower cluster and butterfly were fussy cut and  arranged onto the background. Strips of torn washi tape were used to ground the puppy. The 'Hello' sentiment is made from Tim Holtz Alpha Stickers. The white card was matted onto kraft card and popped onto a white card blank.

Many thanks to Fabrika Fantasy for sponsoring this challenge.

I hope you'll find time to share your projects at the Colour Crazy Challenge
We'd love to see what you make!

That's all from me for today!

* Vera Lane Studio: Froggy Went a Courtin'

Hello!

This month in the Vera Lane Studio Facebook Group we have an ATC swap. The theme is 'Off With Their Heads' and we are to take the head of one digi and add it to the body of a second digi. This is sooo much fun and there are hundreds of new characters to make.

Here is what I made:

I used the frog from Kiss The Frog and the body of one of the quirky Real Men. I coloured the images with Copic markers, added some Posca white paint pen highlights, some Glossy Accents to the frog's eyes and glitter to his crown.
The background is made from Distress Oxides in Peeled Paint, Broken China and Fossilised Amber. I added some text stamping with Fossilised Amber DO and inked the edges with Black Soot DO and Ranger Jet Black Archival Ink. Some black lace trim was adhered at the base of the ATC and green Baker's Twine. The frog was popped on foam pads for dimension and I typed the sentiment using Vera Lane Studio Baby Powder font, printed it out, cut it into strips and inked the edges. It is glued directly onto the background. Finally some jewel trim was added.

* Vera Lane Studio: Springtime

Hello!

Happy Easter to all those who celebrate!

We have had a beautiful warm and sunshiny long weekend here in the North West of England. We've been making the most of it, plenty of gardening and eating outdoors with family and friends. Yesterday we went to the seaside, so summer clothes are out and pale legs are bare!

Today is my Vera Lane Studio DT day and I've made two sweet spring cards:

My first card features the Hello Spring digi set and I used the Pastel Leaves Background.

I brayered white acrylic paint over the leaves background to mute them a little more and inked the edges with Peeled Paint Distress Oxide. I added some washi tape and a piece of green ric-rac trim to ground my images. The images were coloured with Copic markers. The flower was glued onto the background and the bunny was popped on foam pads for dimension. The sentiment comes with the set - I cut it into strips, inked the edges and glued it to the background. The image square was then matted onto a square of scrapbook paper and placed on a white card.

The second card was made in the same way, using the Little Birds digi set:

There are 3 big birds in this set as well as the nest and a sentiment. I coloured my birdies with Copic markers and added some white Posca pen highlights. The background was brayered with white paint to mute the colours. The mama bird was glued onto the background and the nest popped onto foam pads. The sentiment comes with the set.

My Fairy Bunny is the pre-coloured one. She was cut out leaving a thin white border all around and attached to a piece of scrapbook paper which was simply stapled to the netting.

* Vera Lane Studio: Fat Cats

Hello!

Here we are and it's Monday once more!
Monday is my DT day at Vera Lane Studio.  We have a fantastic new release today and it's one for the cat lovers, like myself.  It's called Fat Cats - I prefer to say cuddly :) - and it has 5 different kitties: Black Eye, Daisy Eye, Lovely Cat, Skull Shirt and Spike.

Here is what I made:

I used Black Eye and Lovely Cat for my card and I think they make a perfect couple. I coloured them with Copic markers and fussy cut them. I added Glossy Accents to their eyes and noses and some glitter to Lovely Cat's collar pendant. Do you like her jewel studded collar?
The background is made from Distress Oxides in Worn Lipstick, Fossilised Amber and Peeled Paint. I smooshed my card through puddles on a craft mat and dried with a heat gun before adding the next layer. As I dried each oxide layer I spritzed with water to get the bleached out droplet effects. When the background was dry I inked around the edges with Worn Lipstick, Black Soot and Ranger Jet Black Archival Ink. I stamped some Rye Grass (stamp from Inkylicious) with Crushed Olive Distress Ink to act as a backdrop for my cats.  A piece of torn washi tape grounds my cats and they are popped on foam pads. The sun is from the Sunshine collage sheet. The sentiment was generated on my computer, using the Vera Lane Studio Baby Powder font. It was printed, cut into strips, inked, then glued directly onto the background.
