AALL & Create: Free Bird

Hello!

I'm back with another October release from AALL & Create. This time it is a set of stamps designed by Janet Klein called #430 Free Bird.

I love quirky and they don't come much quirkier than this Free Bird! Here they are on a whimsical plaque made from popsicle sticks:

Step by step:
The sticks were glued together and held in place by two sticks. They were given a thin coat of gesso and some texture paste was applied through Janet's #97 Starry Night stencil.
***
The plaque was painted with a variety of acrylic paints. The raised texture paste daisies were coloured with a white Posca paint pen.
***
The bird was stamped twice along with the flower which I use as a sun and both sentiments. I used Copic markers to colour the birds and the sun.
***
I added the birds to the plaque, using recycled cardboard packaging to raise them from the background. Some natural sisal was popped behind them for added texture and I decided to add some dried flowers on the ground in between the birds.

The sentiments were cut up and adhered to the plaque. Hemp chord was wrapped and glued  around two of the end sticks to give hanging loop.

* Vera Lane Studio: Rag Dolls

Hello!
Happy first Monday in 2020.
I hope this year is all that you wish it to be.

Today is my DT day a Vera Lane Studio and we have a new digi set release. It's an adorable set of 3 Rag Dolls and a sentiment.

I made two cards:

This is Rag Doll 1 - she is coloured with Copic markers and fussy cut. I made her background with Distress Oxides applied to an acrylic block, spritzed with water and stamped on to smooth white card. When the oxides were dry, white paint splatters were flicked onto the background and the edges stamped with black ink.  I used the Mesh Stamp #262 from AAll & Create. Rag Doll 1 was adhered directly onto the oxide background with torn washi tape strip to ground her and the sentiment was cut into strips, inked around the edges and adhered.
I stamped the Background Mash Up Stamp #210, also from AAll & Create, directly onto my 5 x 5 inch card, inked the edges of the card and adhered the oxide topper with Rag Doll 1 on top.

My second card was made in the same way using Rag Doll 3:

Look at her cute, stitched button eye!
Here is a close up:

Winter Star Gazer Hare

Hello!
I'm so glad you are here!

I've been batch making some Christmas cards with a lovely stamp from Woodware called Lino Cut Star Gazer. It is a beautiful stamp!

I made some in black and white with Crystal Stickles glitter outlining the hills and the moon and stars, and some I stamped in black over a coloured background. I used an acrylic block with Distress Oxide inks spritzed with water to stamp the background, then stamped the stamp on top. On some, the background colour was a bit washed out, so I added some watercolours on top to give a bit more depth of colour. All the stamping was done on white card, then cut out, inked around the edges and attached to an A6 card base which already had the sentiment stamped. I used a Posca white paint pen to outline the hare on the ones with coloured backgrounds, then Stickles glitter was applied along the hill outlines and in the sky.

That's all from me today.
Thanks for stopping by today.

* Vera Lane Studio: Bunny and Fox

Hello!

Today I'm sharing a cute notecard I made using Vera Lane Studio's Bunny and Fox digi set.

I adore these two whimsical characters and I've always had a thing for dressed animals (not so much in real life though!).
Fox and Bunny were coloured with Copics and fussy cut. I made a simple background by adding Distress Oxides to an acrylic stamping block, lightly spritzing with water then using it as a stamp. I love the compact edges you get from block stamping and the white border.  Once the ink was dry I stamped some bare tree branches in one corner, first in Vintage Photo and then offset slightly in black to give the illusion of depth. I popped a little bird on one of the branches. The stamp set is from one of my favourite, local manufacturers here in the UK - Inkilicious
Some torn striped wash tape grounds Fox and Bunny and they are popped on foam pads for dimension. The sentiment 'Hello' is from the Hello Spring digi set (not available in the shop right now, but available on request).

I hope you'll come along and play on Vera Lane.
It's such a friendly, fun place to be!
