Wasting Time

Hello

The theme at Lost Coast Portal to Creativity this month is For The Men.

Like many, I find masculine cards so difficult to create, however, it's a while since I entered a Lost Coast challenge, so I thought I would give it a go.

Here is the card I made:

I used the Monkey with Banjo stamp from Carmen's Veranda. I made a stencilled background with a layering stencil called 'Modern Weave' from Alex Syberia Designs and Oxide inks. I grounded the monkey on washi tape and added a Lawn Fawn 'Happy Birthday' sentiment and a 'Wasting Time' sentiment strip.

That's all for now.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Digital Whisper: Red

Hello

The theme this week at Digital Whisper is Red.

I love the drama of the colour Red :)

Here are two digital collages:

I used the Gecko Galz free February gothic image for this one, simply adding border masks and popping it onto a red wooden background which also has painted border masks. I like the layered effect.

This lovely retro, red sweater lady is from the 'Sweater Weather' set from Artemis Journals (currently unavailable) and I teamed her with Poisonous Mushrooms also from Artemis Journals.

Path of Positivity: To Love and Be Loved

Hello

Welcome to the midway reminder for the February Path of Positivity Challenge.

Our challenge is always Anything Goes with an optional theme. We have decided that our overall theme for 2024 will be THE POWER OF WORDS.

This month's option is to design a project that is inspired by quotes about Love and Relationships.

Here are the quotes chosen for this month::

“Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud.” — Maya Angelou

“We can improve our relationships with others by leaps and bounds if we become encouragers instead of critics.” — Joyce Meyer

“Never above you. Never below you. Always beside you.” — Walter Winchell

“There is only one happiness in this life, to love and be loved.” — George Sand

Honours and Prizes include:
  • $6 worth of images from Scribbles Designs, for a person chosen in a random draw based on all qualifying entrants.
  • A badge for the following honours: Top PickVoter's ChoiceMost InspirationalRandom WinnerDT Delight.

Here is my midway DT project.

I made a simple notecard using a beautiful digital image from Gecko Galz and pairing it with a colourful, galaxy sky background which echoes the colours in the image. I used black card to mat the image and background. The sentiment was typed, printed and cut into strips.

That's all for now.
We would love to see your creations!
Just make sure that your entry is positive, inspirational, motivational or encouraging in some way!

Many thanks to Scribbles Designs for sponsoring the challenge.

The Key to my Heart

  Hello

The challenge this week at the Sunday Postcard is Keys

Here is my digital postcard:

I have a key on there - on the gentleman's lap, but really I went with the idea of a metaphorical key to the woman's heart.

The lovely door backdrop is from a set called Doors and Windows from G&T Designs. I added extra flowers and plants at the base of the door from DigitalScrapbook.com. The colourised, vintage people are from Chez Simone Tresors and I gave the gentleman a chair to sit upon.

I layered a couple of border overlays and added a frame in PicMonkey.

Thanks for stopping by.

Here are my projects.

First, I have an acetate front card:

Here's the side view:

The card folds flat:

I used paper from the In Dreams Junk Journal Kit (May 2023) and I added some glitter to the clouds. The sentiment is die cut and is from the Simple Encouragements sentiment set. I fussy cut one of the balloons from the Flights of Fantasy collage set and adhered it to the acetate front. The fairytale castle from Winter Fantasy was also fussy cut and adhered to the zig-zag base of the card. This gives a 3D effect.

Next I have a note card:

I love the muted, pastel colours in this, I find them calming and relaxing. The beautiful bird is from the December 2023, Once Upon a Christmas Time Kit. I distressed the edges and popped it onto a scalloped, die cut mat. This was then placed on foam tape onto the beautiful, cloudy sky paper from the (May 2023) In Dreams Kit. I inked some white card and used it to die cut some foliage and made a paper flower.

Next I have some small cluster embellishments:

I followed the Flights of Fantasy theme for my clusters and added birds, butterflies and wings to my girls. I used up some of the smaller ephemera pieces I have ready cut and added them to postcard and script images. Florals were placed on each cluster along with some scraps of lace. These can be used on journal pages or used as a topper on cards. It's a great way to use up scraps and small images

I have a Pinwheel Tower booklet:

You can see more, including a step by step walk through here.

And lastly I have two digital art collages:

That's all for now!

Peacocks: Strut Your Stuff

Hello

I found a new-to-me blog this week called Digital Whisper

They have weekly challenges and this week's theme is Peacock.

Here is my digital collage:

Anyone who knows me, knows that I love anthropomorphic animals. I also love colour, so when creating they are often in focus.

These quirky peacocks are from ChezSimoneTresors, a set called Surreal Peacocks. These two dressed peacocks come without the peacock feathers, so I manipulated another digi from the set so that the feathers appear to be part of their tails. They are on a Klimt-style background (Seamless Patterns Floral) also from the ChezSimoneTresors Etsy store. There are two backgrounds, one faded over the other to give an artsy vibe. I added some white mist spray over the paper and faded it out a little so that the peacocks stand out a bit more and I gave the piece a black border overlay - both elements from DigitalScrapbook.com. I added the mat and frame in PicMonkey.

I am quite new to digital art, but so enjoying the journey.

Thank you for stopping by today.

Marie Antoinette: Keep Your Head and Eat Cake

 Hello

The challenge this week at the Sunday Postcard is Marie Antoinette.

I made a couple of postcards this time.

Here is my first one:

I decided to go a little 'vintage', tongue-in-cheek style with this one. I used a couple of papers from Gecko Galz, fading and blending the one with French words and images. The png elements, the cat, cup cakes, the necklace and crown are from DigitalScrapbooking.com. The stitching, border masks and the word 'cake' are also from DigitalScrapbooking.com
I am fully aware that she never actually said, 'Let them eat cake' :)

And here's the second:

This one is a little bit more 'modern Marie' :)
I created the Marie image in Image Creator and placed her on an embroidered and petal encrusted background from Creative Fabrica. The borders, shadows and bling are courtesy of DigitalScrapbooking.com

Thanks for stopping by.

I made a postcard for my mini journal using digi stamps from Vera Lane Studio. I used the pre-coloured rainbow from ROYGBIV, adding extra colour with Copic markers. The little characters, from Catch the Rainbow, and the grass are also coloured with Copic markers and Polychromo pencils. I made a brayered, acrylic paint background, added some white heat embossing and some paint splatters and adhered the images along with the quote from Maya Angelou.

Conjuror of Dreams: Gothic Romance

Hello

Today I'm sharing some projects I made using Conjurer of Dreams images. I hope you'll pop over to the store and take a look at the Digital Art on sale for collage, scrapbooks, journals, cards and more.

The theme this month is Gothic Romance..

Here is what I made:

It's a mini booklet telling the story of Annabel Lee - a poem written by Edgar Allan Poe.
I used the Poe in Love set from Conjurer of Dreams for the character and also the colourful backgrounds from the Vivid Fantasy set. The poem was printed onto white card and die cut along with some of the Gothic Hearts.

Here are the pages:
I created the image collages digitally, then printed them out in small format.
The original digital collages are shown later in this post.

I used colourful (Vivid Fantasy) backgrounds for the time when the narrator and Annabel Lee were in love and Annabel was still very much alive.
The Gothic Hearts add a little colour to the poem side of the page. Die cut borders were also used for decoration.

When Annabel dies, I move to more dark and sombre backgrounds.

The front:

I used a Tim Holtz 3D Impresslit (which die cuts and embosses) to create the large heart, colouring it with Distress Mica Stain in Peppermint Stick and adding a touch of gold wax and black ink. Glossy Accents was applied over the centre of one of the Gothic Hearts and over the tiles (Idea-ology Label Letters) that make up the title. Red velvet trim and black lace trim were added for texture and the booklet closes with black ribbon.

And the back;

I also made a small card:

This scalloped kraft card has an image from Goth Love. I made some die cut flowers and coloured them with Mica Stains, adding a black gem in the centre and some black, die-cut foliage. The sentiment is an Idea-ology Small Talk sticker.

And a heart decor piece:

The base is a chipboard heart which I coloured with PaperArtsy Fresco Finish paint. I used a heart stencil to apply Distress Crackle Paste and, when dry, I fussy cut a Poe in Love image and adhered it directly onto the base. Some left over flowers were also added along with an Idea-ology Clipping Sticker sentiment. I inked the edges of the heart with black ink. I added some silver coloured beads to a length of black twine and used this for the hanging loop, letting it the beaded part dangle below the heart.
