* Path of Positivity: Spring Has Sprung

 Hello!

Today is the start of a new Path of Positivity challenge.
The challenge lasts for the month of April.

This month the theme is Anything Goes with the optional twist of
Make me Smile/Laugh.

Prizes this month include:
  • TWO digital images from Hetty Clare our guest sponsor for this month, for a person chosen in a random draw based on all qualifying entrants.
  • ONE image (value of $5 or less) from Scribbles Designs, for the post or project that the team deems most inspiring of the bunch based on all qualifying entrants.
  • One digital image from Creative Bug Digital SnapShots for each person chosen as a DT Delight.

Our optional theme this month is Share A Smile/Laugh.
So, this month we want you to create a project that makes you smile or laugh.
What brings a smile to your face or makes you laugh? How do you share that smile with someone else? What we show on the outside can become how we feel on the inside. So, if you've been feeling low, how about putting a smile on your face to help you put a smile on your heart as well! Anything with a fun or funny theme is perfect for our challenge this month.

Please remember ...
... in order to be eligible for the prizes your project must be positive, inspirational, motivational or encouraging in some way.

Anything cute and or whimsical brings a smile to my face - I love sweet images and particularly ones of cute animals doing human activities. If it is an image, I actually like to see the animals dressed in clothes and I am particularly fond of Victorian, anthropomorphic cats. Am I weird? I don't think so! I blame it on all the story books I was read when I was a child - Beatrix Potter and Wind in the Willows and, a little later on, in the 1980s, Brambly Hedge.  Oh, Happy Days!

Anyhow, on to my project for the start of this month's challenge.

Here is my card using one of Hetty Clare's beautiful, whimsical images. This one is called 'Spring has Sprung'.

Now this sweet image of a bunny family playing at skipping on a spring day just has to bring a smile to your face!
I coloured the image with Copic markers. I made a rough paper mask from a second print and placed it on top of my coloured version so that I could blend some inks to represent the sky. I used a Lawn Fawn die to cut out the image.
I decided to make my own card for matting the image upon. I did this by blending Scattered Straw ink onto white card and then I repeatedly stamped a flower image in the same colour of ink.
I typed the sentiment and matted it onto inked card before attaching it to the image.

Many thanks to Hetty Clare, this month's guest sponsor,

and to Scribbles Designs as the ongoing sponsor of the challenge

We would love to see your creations!
Just make sure that your entry is positive, inspirational, motivational or encouraging in some way!

* Vera Lane Studio: Hello Spring

 Hello!

It's another Monday which means it's my DT day at Vera Lane Studio.

Today I am sharing a bright and cheerful spring card using a few of the older digi sets.

Here is what I made:

It's definitely a bright card! I blended Distress Oxides in Cracked Pistachio, Broken China and Blueprint Sketch for the background, then heat embossed in white over the top. The stamp I used is one of my favourite AALL & Create background stamps called #210 Background Mash Up. I added a little black stamping around the edges of the background using Janet's #404 Visual Ingredients stamp. I tore strips of Janet's new washi tape, #17 Mix and Match, to ground my images - the washi tape has 4 different designs in the same roll - you can see it in the photo above. The images were coloured with Copic markers, fussy cut and adhered directly onto the background.

Some white paint splatters and a doodle line finish off my card.

The digi sets I used are:

Hello Spring                      Snail's Pace                       Suns

Aviary                      Birds of a Feather

The stamp sets I used in the background and the washi tape are available from AALL & Create. A list of stockists can be found here.

***
That's all for now.
I hope you'll come along and play on Vera Lane. It's such a friendly, fun place to be!

I'd like to play along in these challenges:

As You Like It March Favourite Way to cut an Image 24/03
I really enjoy fussy cutting images. I usually do this while watching the TV. I like to cut up to the image outline, then run around the cut edge with a black marker to hide any imperfections. I think this gives a neat finish and I find it relaxing to do.

* Gecko Galz: Walk with Nature 2

 Hello!

Today is mt DT feature day over on the Gecko Galz Blog. I have a few projects to share along the theme of Walk with Nature.

Firstly, I made two notecards. I used Tattered Duchess ATC Set for the background paper. I love this particular paper - it reminds me of worn wallpaper.

The beautiful bird and its nest above is from the new Pretty Birds collage set and the flowers below are from the Ethereal Flowers sheet. I teamed them with kraft card for a natural look and some hessian trim and cream flower lace.

***
Next is some watercoloring, using Inktense pencils, on a stamp from The Magic of Nature Stamp Set. The stamp reminds me of a lino print and features a pretty woodland scene with plants and creatures:

The paper I used for the background is from the Dapper Nouveau ATC Collection.

***

Lastly, I had another try at making digital collages. Here are the two that I was happy with. I still need to learn about applying shadows and 'brushes' ... there just never seems enough time to concentrate

For this first one, which I'm calling 'Mr McGregor's Overgrown Garden', I used a background and png elements from the Storybook Garden Kit.

This is my 'Woodland Wonders' digital collage.
Here I used the Pixie Spring Kit utilising both the collage sheet for the background and the icons.

***
I also made some ATcs and then used them as card toppers for my Customer Challenge Inspiration Post which you can see here.

That's all for now!
I hope you'll join our Walk with Nature challenge where the winner will get a $25 shopping spree at the Gecko Galz shop.

The only rule is that you must use at least one Gecko Galz product

* Crafts Galore Encore: Little Friends

Hello

It's the start of another month, spring is in the air and it's time for another Anything Goes challenge at Crafts Galore Encore.

This month we are sponsored by Nikky from Polkadoodles.

I used the digi stamp Winnie Sunshine Delight - Little Friends and I coloured it with Copic markers. I decided to fussy cut it and add it to my own background. I blended Distress Oxide inks in Twisted Citron, Cracked Pistachio and Broken China, then stamped and heat embossed in white, using the Stampers Anonymous Vine and Roses set.
I grounded the stamp with washi tape and popped the image on foam pads for some dimension. I used a printed sentiment, inked the edges and added a bakers' twine bow.

* Crafts Galore Encore: Daffodil

Hello!

April brings another Anything Goes challenge at Crafts Galore Encore

The sponsor this month is the fabulous Vera Lane Studio who are offering 2 digi sets for the winner.

Janet kindly gave the DT some digital stamps to work with and here is the card I made:

Spring is definitely in the air now and so I decided to use the Vera Lane Studio Daffodil set to make my card.
I coloured the images with Copic markers and made a watercolour background with Distress Oxides. I applied the Twisted Citron and Peacock Feathers inks to a stencil, spritzed it with water, then stamped the ink onto card. I love the effect this gives! I used the stencil technique to added more patches of ink where I thought it was needed. I added some stamping and some texture paste followed by paint splatters. The edges of the background were inked with green and the very edges with black for definition and framing. The patch of daffodils were glued directly onto the background whilst the girl was popped on foam pads. The lovely sentiment come in the set. I cut it into tiny strips and adhered it to the background.

Many thanks to Janet Klein at Vera Lane Studio for generously sponsoring and supporting this challenge. We hope you'll pop over to the shop to see the many lovely products on sale. Janet has designed stamp sets which are available through AALL & Create.

* Vera Lane Studio: Hello Spring ATC

Hello!
Happy Monday!

Monday is my DT day at Vera Lane Studio. This is my second post for Vera Lane Studio today. My first can be found here.
This month we are having an ATC swap and the theme is 'Hello Spring', so here is my ATC:

This time round I decided to use Janet's stamp set available through AALL & Create. This set is called New Day and I used all the elements from the set. The sentiment is from a VLS digi set called Hello Spring. I coloured the images with Copics and added some Posca pen highlights. I fussy cut the images. The background (2.5 x 3.5 inches) was made by smooshing card in Distress Oxides spritzed with water. I used three colours, Scattered Straw, Twisted Citron and Cracked Pistachio to give the spring green colours, drying each layer before adding the next. When the inks were completely dry, I added some stamping using AALL & Create's Bubble Block and Mesh stamps, there are also some tiny hearts from the Heartfelt stamp. Crackle Texture paste was applied through the Lotsa Dotz stencil. To finish the background I splattered some white paint and inked the edges in black archival ink.
The elements were glued to the background and the girl was popped on foam pads for a bit of dimension.
I hope you'll come along and play on Vera Lane.
It's such a friendly, fun place to be!

Thanks for stopping by today.
