Path of Positivity: Where Flowers Bloom

Hello

Today is the midway reminder for the December challenge at the Path of Positivity.

Our challenge is always Anything Goes with an optional theme. We have decided that our overall theme for 2024 will be THE POWER OF WORDS.

December's option is to design a project that is inspired by quotes about

Hope and Faith

***

Here is my project:

I watched a Tracy Evans' video tutorial about stamping with light coloured oxide inks and watercoloring over them. So I gave it a try. I used stamps from Tracy's latest release, this set is called TE032 'Alpha Florals'. I used Ecoline Watercolour Pens for colouring the flowers and the rectangle and found this sentiment stamp in my stash which is perfect for our theme this month.

***

Here are this month's suggested quotes, for inspiration, but you can choose your own:

“Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase.” — Martin Luther King, Jr.“The moment you doubt whether you can fly, you cease for ever to be able to do it.” — J. M. Barrie

“Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The important thing is not to stop questioning.” — Albert Einstein

“To live without hope is to cease to live.” — Fyodor Dostoyevsky

“Faith is the strength by which a shattered world shall emerge into the light.” — Helen Keller

***

That's all for now.
We would love to see your creations!
Just make sure that your entry is positive, inspirational, motivational or encouraging in some way!

* Path of Positivity: Go with the Flow

Hello

Welcome to the midway reminder for the August Path of Positivity Challenge.

Our challenge is always Anything Goes with an optional theme.

This month's option is to design a project that is inspired by the sea.

Honours and Prizes include:

  • $6 worth of images from Scribbles Designs, for a person chosen in a random draw based on all qualifying entrants.
  • A badge for the following honours: Top PickVoter's ChoiceMost InspirationalRandom WinnerDT Delight.

I decided to use the whale stamp from the AALL & Create stamp set, 'Sea Life' " for my project:

I stamped the image onto white card and then stamped the whale again to make a paper mask to place over the original whale, so that I could add ink around it. I added extra watercolour to the hexagons and seaweed and finished with plenty white splatters.
I matted the image onto black card, then made a second mat from blended blue oxides. I love the 'Go with the Flow' sentiment.

Here is a close up:

Path of Positivity: Nature

Hello

Welcome to the midway reminder for the May Path of Positivity Challenge.

Our challenge is always Anything Goes with an optional theme.

This month's option is to design a project that is inspired by nature.

Honours and Prizes include:

  • $6 worth of images from Scribbles Designs, for a person chosen in a random draw based on all qualifying entrants.
  • A badge for the following honours: Top PickVoter's ChoiceMost InspirationalRandom WinnerDT Delight.
I made a country side scene using Card-io stamps:

I am still learning to use the tiny stamps in the Card-io stamp sets. I tried to make a peaceful countryside scene. I think I overdid the grasses and flowers and I definitely got the perspective of the front tree and the fence wrong, but all in all I quite like what I made. There's plenty room for improvement - I just need to find time to practice :)
The stamping  and inking is directly on the card base. The square was masked off and the frame was dry embossed from the back.

That's all for now.
We would love to see your creations!
Just make sure that your entry is positive, inspirational, motivational or encouraging in some way!

Path of Positivity: Field Mice

Hello

Welcome to the May Path of Positivity Challenge.

I decided to make a stamped scene with  a wild flower meadow and a couple of playful field mice.

I used Lavinia stamps and Versafine Clair coloured inks for the stamping. I added some graphite ink around the edges and at the base of the background so that the heat embossed Summer Flowers and Mystic Swirls would stand out more.. The background is mica sprays which have a gorgeous shimmer. The sentiment is a Tom Holts sticker.

Galore Encore: Bear Hugs

 Hello

Happy New Year!

(This is project 3 of 3 for today.)

Today sees that start of a new year of challenges at Crafts Galore Encore

The theme is always 'Anything Goes' and you can enter up to 3 different projects.  The January challenge runs all month until mid day (GMT) 30th January.

This month's challenge is kindly sponsored by Helen from Hetty Clare Art and she is kindly giving the random winner 2 digi stamps from her Etsy Store.

Here is my project, a postcard to stick in my journal, using a beautiful image from Hetty Clare called Bear Hugs:

I coloured the image with Copic markers and fussy cut it, leaving a thin, white border. The background was made by applying Distress Oxide inks to an acrylic block, spritzing with water and using it as a stamp. I added stencilling and stamping for extra texture and interest. The edges of the card were inked in black and white splatters were added. The lovely sentiment, called Hug Need, is from Scribbles Designs.

Many thanks to Helen from Hetty Clare for her generous prize for our random winner.

Please pop over to Crafts Galore Encore to see the DT's wonderful designs and to enter our challenge.

We'd love to see your creations.
Remember the challenge is always 'Anything Goes' and so you can create any type of project - it doesn't have to be a card and you can enter up to 3 times.

Thanks for stopping by today!

* GDT for Critter Crazy Challenges: Merry & Bright

Hello

I am delighted to have been asked to be guest designer at Critter Crazy Challenges.

The Critter Crazy challenges are always Anything Goes, but MUST feature a creature (furry, feathered, scaly or insect; real or mythical). The challenges run from the 1st to the 25th of each month and winners are announced on the last day of the month.

I decided to use a new-to-me stamp set, called Field Dayfrom Card-io Stamps to make a winter scene.

Card-io is a family run, small business in the UK. They have been around for a number of years, but are a new discovery for me. I went to a craft fair a few weeks ago and watched the owner of the company demonstrating these northern lights scenes. I was smitten straight away.

I stamped the twiggy branch to make the wreath, then stamped the Field Day images. Next I masked and inked the sky and snow. Glamour Dust glitter was applied to the snow and the branches and chunky embossing enamel applied to represent snow. I added a sentiment from a different stamp set and a black and white gingham bow.

I literally could spend all day making these lovely little scenes.

Thank you so much to Critter Crazy for featuring me as guest designer.

Many thanks for stopping by today!

* Path of Positivity: Winter

  Hello

Welcome to the midway reminder for the November Path of Positivity Challenge.

Our challenge is always Anything Goes with an optional theme.

This month's option is to design a project that focuses on celebrating THE SIMPLE THINGS IN LIFE.

Honours and Prizes include:
  • $6 worth of images from Scribbles Designs, for a person chosen in a random draw based on all qualifying entrants.
  • A badge for the following honours: Top PickVoter's ChoiceMost InspirationalRandom WinnerDT Delight.
My project for today was inspired by the fabulous Tracy Evans, a stamp designer for AALL & Create.
Tracy's video (which you can watch here) had me mesmerised and I decided to give her 'bauble technique' a try.
I love the outdoors and though I'm not a fan of the cold weather, I love snowfall and countryside walks, so my Christmas bauble decoration is inspired by a simple woodland walk in winter time.

Inks are brayered onto the card to add colour to the background. The card is a one layer card, but gives the illusion of being three dimensional. This means that the card is flat and so is easy for mailing. You can see the techniques in Tracy's video.
Inside my bauble, I depicted a snowy, woodland scene with deer. The stamps I used are a mixture of Inkylicious, Lavinia and AALL & Create.

The top of the bauble and the twine are doodled.

We would love to see your creations!
Just make sure that your entry is positive, inspirational, motivational or encouraging in some way!
