* Vera Lane Studio: Leo

Hello

The sixth zodiac sign digi set, Leo, is released today at Vera Lane Studio . Isn't this little lion girl the cutest! I love how she is clutching her toy lion.

I made a tag:

The digis were coloured with Copic markers and fussy cut. I made the background by smooshing white card into Old Paper distress oxide puddles - I love how the colours separate into muted greens and yellows. I added some tone on tone background stamping using Janet's AALL & Create stamps and stamped around the edges in black. I added some washi tape to ground the scene and used some Tim Holtz dies to cut foliage so that the little lioness can feel at home.

That's all for now.

I hope you'll come along and play on Vera Lane. It's such a friendly, fun place to be!

* Path of Positivity: Special Kind of Crazy

 Hello

Welcome to the midway reminder for the June Path of Positivity Challenge.

Our challenge is always Anything Goes with an optional theme.

This month's option is to design a project that focuses on celebrating something special about your hero or someone you look up to.

Honours and Prizes include:
  • $6 worth of images from Scribbles Designs, for a person chosen in a random draw based on all qualifying entrants.
  • A badge for the following honours: Top PickVoter's ChoiceMost InspirationalRandom WinnerDT Delight.
I have always admired people who do their own thing, who throw convention to the winds, regardless of what others think. This is probably because I am beset by anxiety and self-consciousness and prefer to blend in rather than stand out in a crowd.

I used a lovely Elena ZinskiArt digi stamp for my card. She's called Doodle Girl and I coloured her with Copic markers, adding some white Posca pen highlights here and there. I gave her mermaid hair as that is something that I wish I could carry off :)
Her background is a gelli print with a 'stamped' stencil layer on top. Some black stamping was added around the edges and some white paint splatters. The quote is from Elena's 150 Quotes and Sentiments set. Crazy in this sense means different, unique, or zany. Brooke Hampton once said "Take being called crazy as a compliment. It means you've found the courage to be yourself when so many others have not."

We would love to see your creations!
Just make sure that your entry is positive, inspirational, motivational or encouraging in some way!
The link up is here: Challenge #102 Path of Positivity.

That's all for today!
Many thanks to Scribbles Designs for sponsoring the challenge.

I'll be back with a another Path of Positivity project in a couple of weeks time.

Thanks for stopping by today!

* VLS: Polaroids - Planting Seeds Again and Sit Down

Hello

Today is my DT day at Vera Lane Studio and I have two Polaroid projects, one using last week's new digi set, Planting Seeds and the second using older sets called Coffee, Tea, Books.

I love the small format of Polaroid slides. The image square is only 3.1 square inches.
For the first project I coloured the images with Copic markers and made a smooshed distressed oxide background with some white heat embossing on top.

The second project has background made with PaperArtsy Infusion pigments.  Stamping adds a 'floor' for the image and stamping was added around the edges. The girl is from Coffee, Tea, Books and her chair is from a set called 'Mid-century Modern' which is not in the store right now, but is available on request.

* Gecko Galz: Dog Days of Summer 2

Hello

The June customer challenge at the Gecko Galz blog this month is 'Dog Days of Summer'.

We also have the monthly Image Challenge and the monthly Christmas Image Challenge, as well as 4 Facebook challenges.
We hope you can find some time to join in the fun.

The winner of the Customer challenge will get a $25 Gecko Galz Etsy Store voucher and the runner up a $12 voucher. There are plenty of free Gecko Galz images if you don't already own any. Each blog post has a free image to collect and, if you sign up for the monthly newsletter, there is the chance to claim a free collage set each month.  Also if you make any purchase of $2 or more you receive a free image.

Here are my DT projects.
I made a large tag using an image from the Beach Signs collage set.

The background paper is from the Winter Palace ATC set. I added some white paint splatters to disguise the feint snowflakes. I fussy cut around the image, which is an advertising board for a seaside guest house, inked around the edges with Vintage Photo ink and popped it on foam tape with some cheesecloth beneath. I echoed the flowers in the image with die cut flowers which I coloured with Distress Inks and Copics.

I also made a pair of notecards featuring lovely ladies and their doggies.

The lady in the yellow dress is from the .Beauty and the Beach collage set, whilst the one with the red parasol is from Puppy Power. The background paper is from the Wood Work ATC set as it reminded me of boardwalk.  I used teal card for matting the image and the background paper. I added a die cut circle with flowers beneath the images and inked the flowers in blue. I also added some die cut crochet lace and made some blue paper flowers. Tim Holtz Small talk stickers provide my sentiments.

I also made a masculine birthday card using the sailor doggie from the Puppy Power collage set for my customer inspiration project. You can see the details here.

That's all for now!
I hope you'll join our Dog Days of Summer challenge where the winner will get a $25 shopping spree at the Gecko Galz shop.

The only rule is that you must use at least one Gecko Galz product (this can be one of the freebies or, of course, you can buy at the Etsy store!) Also if you sign up for the Gecko Galz newsletter, you'll be able to claim a free collage sheet each month and get first claim on the monthly $1 deals!

Please pop over to the Gecko Galz blog to see the fabulous designs by the very talented DT.

We also have a friendly Facebook Group where there are 4 monthly challenges, each with a collage sheet prize.
Do come and join us!

I'll be back on the 1st July with more Gecko Galz projects.

* Vera Lane Studio: Planting Seeds

Hello

Today is my DT day at Vera Lane Studio and we have a new digi set release called Planting Seeds. It features a lovely girl with a watering can, two sets of potted flowers, a garden stool and two sentiments.

I made a journal page:

The images are coloured with Copic markers and finished with Polychromo pencils. I added some white Posca pen highlights and fussy cut them.
The background is made with Distress Oxides, smooshed onto a stencil and spritzed with water, then stamped onto white card. I added tone on tone stamping using Janet's AALL & Create background stamps and stamped in black around the edges.
Janet's washi tape acts as grounding for the images.

That's all for now.

I hope you'll come along and play on Vera Lane. It's such a friendly, fun place to be!

Path of Positivity: Everyday Heroes

Hello
Welcome to the June Path of Positivity Challenge.

I found it really difficult to pinpoint one particular hero, so I decided to go along the route that there are some pretty amazing, ordinary people in all walks of life who are heroes in every sense of the word.
I am thinking in particular of those people who face danger in their line of work in order to protect and help the public and also all those who offer support to the vulnerable and sick. I was particularly reminded of two Macmillan nurses, Anne and Chris, who literally held our lives together when my mum was diagnosed with terminal cancer. They were our super heroes at that devastating time.

Here is my 'Everyday heroes' project:

The background was printed onto white card. I decided to use a graphite pencil to add shading to the quirky buildings (Tall Town by Vera Lane Studio) so that the characters would pop. The characters (Super Girl and Super Hero also from Vera Lane Studio) are coloured with Copic markers, fussy cut and adhered to the background with washi tape as grounding. I used a sentiment from the Super Hero set, cut it into strips and adhered to the card.

We would love to see your creations!
Just make sure that your entry is positive, inspirational, motivational or encouraging in some way!
