* Crazy Flowers

Hello!

I'm delighted that I had some time to play along at the Rubber Dance Challenge this month.

Every month there is a colour challenge or, if you prefer, an Anything Goes Challenge. Projects can be entered on the Facebook Page.
I managed to go along with the May colour challenge. Here is the card I created:

I used stamps from two Rubber Dance sets - the fabulous Crazy Flowers (set #1) and the beautiful script word 'Fleurs' from Antique Botanicals. I stamped my flower, stem and leaf images and coloured them with Copic markers, adding some white Posca paint pen highlights. I fussy cut the flowers and stems and ran a black marker all around the cut edges to mask any cutting imperfections.
The background is blended Distress Oxides (Scattered Straw, Fossilised Amber, Salty Ocean and Broken China). I used a stencil and applied the darker oxides to the centre of the background.  Once I was happy with the blending and stencilling, I splattered some water droplets to bleach out some of the colour and add texture. Then I added some black and white acrylic paint splatters and stamped the word Fleurs along the card edges using Broken China Distress Oxide. I inked the edge of the background in black archival ink and matted it onto kraft card. Finally it was fixed to a white card base.

Thanks for stopping by today.
xoxo

* Vera Lane Studio: Pretty Ladies

Hello!

Happy Spring Bank Holiday to those who enjoy the holiday today!
In true British style the weather has turned for the worse just in time for the long holiday weekend :(

Today it's my DT day for Vera Lane Studio and I have a couple of tags featuring the Pretty Ladies who were released last Wednesday.

Aren't these ladies sweet! As usual, I coloured them with Copic markers and added some white Posca paint highlights. I fussy cut them and prepared the tag backgrounds. I found the ghost gelli print in my stash and added a little sage green acrylic paint with a brayer. I stamped some script with Carved Pumpkin Distress Oxide then stamped with secondary black ink. White paint splatters were added and the edges of the tag inked with Ranger Jet Black Archival Ink.
I tore some washi to ground my ladies and glued them directly onto the tag. The sentiments come with the set - I cut them into strips and inked around the edges , then adhered to the tag, outlining them with a black fine line pen. The tag ribbons echo the colours I used.

I hope you'll come along and play on Vera Lane.
It's such a friendly, fun place to be!

Thanks for stopping by today.

* Gecko Galz: Dapper Men and Sassy Ladies

Hello!

Today it's my DT day at Gecko Galz

Before I get on with my projects, were you one of the lucky winners of the awesome shopping spree give aways for our 8th Birthday celebrations?
You can check here on the Gecko Galz blog and on individual DT blogs - mine is here.

For this month's DT projects I've made a pair of female cards and a pair of masculine cards.

Here they are:

***
Firstly, for the female cards I used one of my new favourite Gecko Galz collage sheets called Funky Card Toppers

I love the vintage images, the colour scheme and the slightly snarky comments. All of the images on this collage sheet are fabulous and would make a super little gift if wrapped in cellophane or placed in a box. I had plans to do this, but sadly time ran away ...

I teamed two of the images with teal coloured patterned paper from the First Class Passage paper pack and tangerine paper from the Smitten paper pack. I used layers and mats, with black inked edges, and added a side banner with hand made, die cut flowers and leaves.

The masculine cards use two images from the Mad About Men collage sheet and they are teamed with patterned paper made by enlarging two ATCs from the Time Flies ATC set.
The first is a Dapper Flapper man to fit in with this month's challenge theme:

He has some gold sequin trim behind his image mat and a die cut, pierced, kraft banner, backed with black card, with Alpha Stickers to spell out 'Hello'.

My second masculine card has black and antique gold card as mats and layers and beneath the image is some black lacy trim. The die cut Happy Birthday was cut twice, once with black card and once with kraft card, so that two sentiments were made at the same time

* Vera Lane Studio: Lightning Bugs

Hello!

It's my DT day at Vera Lane Studio today and we have a new digi release. The digi set is called Lightning Bugs and there are 3 adorable digi images and a sentiment.

Here is my card:

I used the two lightning bug fairies and coloured them with Copic markers. They have some Crystal Stickles on their wings and in their flower centres. They are fussy cut and popped up on foam tape to give some dimension.

The background is made from blending inks - a mixture of Distress Inks (Mustard Seed and Peacock Feathers) and Memento inks (Pear  Tart and Teal Zeal). Water droplets were sprinkled over the inks to bleach out some of the colour and add some texture to the background. I added some text stamping in teal and some stars in Peacock Feathers. White paint spatters and drips of Glimmer Mist were also layered onto the background. The edges of the background are inked with Jet Black Ranger Archival ink.
The wonderful sentiment was cut into sections, edged with black ink and glued directly onto the background.

I hope you'll come along and play on Vera Lane.
It's such a friendly, fun place to be!

Thanks for stopping by today.

* Vera Lane Studio: Rainbow Girl Bookmark

Hello!

At the Vera Lane Studio Facebook Group our monthly swap is a bookmark swap with the theme 'Let's Hear It For the Girls'.
Here is the bookmark I made:

I coloured one of the Rainbow Girls with Copics and added some white Posca paint pen highlights. I fussy cut around her leaving a narrow white border. I cut some 300 gsm smooth white card to 6.5cm x 15 cm and blended Peacock Feathers, Mustard Seed and Crushed Olive Distress Ink over the surface. Once I was happy with the blending, I splattered a few water droplets to bleach out some colour and add a little texture. I then used the same inks, and a little black ink, to add stamping around the edges. I added some torn washi tape to ground my Rainbow girl and glued her directly to the background.
I printed the Dr Seuss quote using the Vera Lane Studio Baby Powder Font. I then cut the sentiment into strips, inked the edges in black and glued them directly onto the background. The edges of the bookmark were inked with Ranger Jet Black Archival Ink and the bookmark was matted onto black card stock to make it a little sturdier. A hole was punched at the top of my bookmark and some hand-dyed seam binding threaded through.
