* Gecko Galz: Myths and Legends

 Hello

August is here and we have a new customer challenge at the Gecko Galz blog challenge. The theme this month is Myths and Legends.

We also have the monthly Image Challenge, the monthly Christmas Image Challenge, the monthly Stamp Challenge, a Steampunk challenge and a Gothic Challenge on the blog, as well as 4 Facebook challenges.
We hope you can find some time to join in the fun.

The winner of the Customer challenge will get a $25 Gecko Galz Etsy Store voucher and the runner up a $12 voucher. There are plenty of free Gecko Galz images if you don't already own any. Each blog post has a free image to collect and, if you sign up for the monthly newsletter, there is the chance to claim a free collage set each month.  Also if you make any purchase of $2 or more you receive a free image.

I made a triptych booklet, using a 3D embossing folder and Distress Oxide inks to create the stone bases.

The pages are decorated with images of King Arthur inside frames. The frames are lifted up on foam tape to give a 3D effect. The frames and three of the images are from the King Arthur Junk Journal  Kit. The fourth image is an icon from the Camelot Kit.

You can see below that the King is on top of the same papers that I used for the other project. I added some creeping foliage and a piece of trim. A tiny bulldog clip keeps the booklet closed.

The book can be opened and displayed like this:

Here it is fully extended.

* Gecko Galz: Summer Love

Hello!

I hope that you are keeping safe and well.

The customer challenge theme for August is Summer Love. You can check out the awesome creations made by the DT on the Gecko Galz blogWe would love for you to join the challenge using one or more products from the Gecko Galz Etsy shop.

Here is what I made:

I made a gap card. This is one of the challenges in out Facebook Group this month - to try a new card fold that you may not have used before. They are called gap cards, simply because they have a gap on the front. The gap is bridged by either an image, die cuts or a sentiment.

My card has a horizontal gap - I found this worked best on a tent fold card as cutting to the card fold does not look neat.
The paper I used is from the Island Girl paper pack. Basically the card front and paper is cut into two separate pieces and the image from Summer Romance, which was matted onto white card, was used to bridge the gap. I also die cut some letters and spelled out 'hello' - I added these to the gap as well. I adhered black card to the inside so that the gap would show up a little more.

My second project is a set of simple notecards, always handy for thank yous or just general notes.

Once again the papers are from Island Girl and the images are from Summer Romance. The papers and images were inked along the edges in Vintage Photo and matted onto kraft card. They new then layered up on a white card base and the only embellishment I added was the natural trims along the left hand sides of each card.
