* Gecko Galz: Beautiful Boho

Hello
October is well and truly under way now and the leaves are fast falling from the trees. We hope you'll find some time to get cozy and do some crafting and join us with our challenges at the Gecko Galz blog.
The theme this month is Bohemian Rhapsody.

We have the annual Blog Hop at the end of October, starting on the 27th, with lots of free collage sheets and super prizes to be won. I do hope you'll join us.

As always, we have the monthly Image Challenge, the monthly Christmas Image Challenge, the monthly Stamp Challenge, a Steampunk challenge and a Gothic Challenge on the blog, as well as 4 Facebook challenges.
We hope you can find some time to join in the fun.

The winner of the Customer challenge will get a $25 Gecko Galz Etsy Store voucher and the runner up a $12 voucher. There are plenty of free Gecko Galz images if you don't already own any. Each blog post has a free image to collect and, if you sign up for the monthly newsletter, there is the chance to claim a free collage set each month.  Also if you make any purchase of $2 or more you receive a free image.

I made a set of ATCs:

I really like how these turned out. I used Wild Child ATCs for the background, matted onto gold card and I fussy cut images from the collage sheets Gypsy Jewels and Gypsy Beauties. I had some elaborate sequin trim in my stash and thought this matched the images perfectly.  The words are small talk stickers.

I made a mixed media Hamsa card:

I love this symbol. It is the symbol of good luck, good fortune, good health, happiness and protection from the Evil Eye. It is a stamp from the Free Sprit Stamp Set. l printed it onto a piece of card which was coloured by smooshing the white card into puddles of inks. I fussy cut the Hamsa, edged it in black and splattered some white paint I made the background by stamping and heat embossing in gold onto black card.

I made a Mandala Dream Catcher:

Below is the mandala design - it is a stamp from the  Free Spirit Stamp Set.
Again I printed onto pre-inked card, this time gluing the inky card onto thick black card for strength. I doodled in sparkly gel pens and added gold highlights as well as specks of white acrylic paint.

Here are the feathers, real and paper, that I added on twine:

The feather stamp is also from the Free Spirit Stamp Set. I added colourful craft feathers to the back of each paper feather and adhered them to the mandala with ribbon trim.

I also made a simple Dream Catcher card:

This is an enlarged ATC, from the Boho Dreams ATC collection, to which I added lots of glitter and sparkle. I die cut a tag shaped sentiment from the Girl Power sentiments set , inked around the edges in blue and added a pink bow. I matted onto gold, then black card - quite a simple, but effective card.

And finally ...
This was the card I made for the start of the challenge.
You can see the details here.

That's all for now!
I hope you'll join our Bohemian Rhapsody challenge where the winner will get a $25 shopping spree at the Gecko Galz shop.

The only rule is that you must use at least one Gecko Galz product (this can be one of the freebies or, of course, you can buy at the Etsy store!) Also if you sign up for the Gecko Galz newsletter, you'll be able to claim a free collage sheet each month and get first claim on the monthly $1 deals!

Vera Lane Studio: New Dress

Hello!

It's my DT day at Vera Lane Studio and today there is a new digi set in the shop. It is called New Dress and consists of a delightful, quirky girl dressed in 7 different patterned and coloured dresses. There is also one left plain for you to colour or paper piece and a sentiment as well. Check it out here.

Here is what I made:

Oh my goodness! There are so many lovely girls in this set, that I couldn't decide which to use. I coloured them all, the ones with the pre-coloured dresses and two that had their dresses left plain. In the end I made a card with the plain dressed girls. I coloured their dresses, one in plain blue and the other in green then I heat embossed it in white. There is so much you can do with this set. The girl has a whole wardrobe of dresses and more besides if you take the time to colour and customise the dresses.

My background is Distress Oxides stamped with one of Janet's lovely stencils (#116 Tre Fiori) from AALL & Create. I used Speckled Egg and Bundled Sage and love the soft colours together. Some Ephemera Digits (Tracy Evans #438) were stamped in the background and some #404 Visual Ingredients in black around the edges.

That's all for now.
I hope you'll come along and play on Vera Lane. It's such a friendly, fun place to be!

Artsystamper: Halloween Colours

 Hello!

Happy Monday!

Today sees the start of a new challenge at the Artsystamper Challenge Blog
Each challenge runs for two weeks and starts on the first and third Monday of the month.
The theme for this challenge is Halloween Colours.
I hope that you can find time to join in the fun!

The winner will receive the stamp set of their choice from TheArtsystamperShop. The Winner and Top 3 will receive a badge for their blog.
Beverly Cole’s selections offer stamps and sentiments in each set as well as pre-coloured images for easy, last minute cards. Why not take a moment and check out what she has in store!

Today I'm sharing my Sweet Halloween card:

This set, Sweet Spirits, comes as black and white stamps for you to colour, or pre-coloured for quick and easy cards.  I chose to colour my own this time.
I arranged the png image outlines into a group, printed them out and used Copic markers to colour them. They were fussy cut.

For the background, I heat embossed an AALL & Create stamp using white WOW Powder, then blended Distress Oxides in Candied Apple, Dusty Concord and Chipped Sapphire. I sprinkled water over to bleach out some colour. I completed the background by stamping in black around the edges.
The image was grounded with some washi tape, glued to the background and white paint splatters applied.
The sentiment was die cut with a tag die, inked lightly around the edges and trim was added.

That's all for today!
I hope you will hop on over to Artsystamper Digitals Challenge Blog and enter our challenge! You will also see more inspiring designs from the Artsystamper Addicts Design Team ... so much fun.

I'll be back with another Artsystamper project in two weeks time.

Meanwhile, please check out:

Crafts Galore Encore: Sunny Sunflower

Hello!

October brings another Anything Goes challenge at Crafts Galore Encore.

The sponsor this month is the fabulous Artsystamper who are offering a digital kit to the winner.

Beverly from Artsystamper kindly gave the DT some digital stamps to work with. I chose to work with Sunny Sunflower and here is the card I made:

I chose the sunflower with a stem, black and white digi so that I could colour it myself. I used Copic markers to add colour, then I fussy cut around the stamp leaving a thin white border. I made a vase from air dry clay and stamped into it for some texture. I painted the vase and added some bronze wax to highlight the texture.
The background was made by braying Distress Oxides onto white car. I used Antique Linen, Scattered Straw, Fossilised Amber and Wild Honey. I stamped Background Grunge from AALL & Create and heat embossed with white WOW Powder.
The flowers were popped on foam dots. The sentiment is from the Sunny Sunflower set.

Many thanks to  Beverly at Artsystamper for generously sponsoring and supporting this challenge. We hope you'll pop over to the shop to see the many lovely products on sale.

Please pop over to Crafts Galore Encore to see the DTs wonderful designs.

We'd love to see your creations.

Gecko Galz: Autumn Cascade

Hello!

Today is my DT day at Gecko Galz and I have a cascade card to share.

I used kraft card as my base and the beautiful Autumn Colours ATC set as my papers.
The card fold looks quite complicated, but I found a very easy tutorial by Kelly Acheson here. She also has a video demonstration.

I made a tag to fit inside the card where the greeting could be written on the reverse side. The image I used is from the Autumn Splendour Collage set.

The sentiments are from the Autumn Sentiments stamp set:

Here is the back of the card:

I also made this autumnal card for the Customer Challenge Inspiration post:

* Artsystamper: Watercolour Flower Kit

Hello!

Happy Monday!

Today sees the start of a new challenge at the Artsystamper Challenge Blog
Each challenge runs for two weeks and starts on the first and third Monday of the month.
The theme for this challenge is Anything Goes.

For this challenge, the DT are using Beverly's Watercolour Florals Cardmaking Kit. This is a fabulous kit and has all you need to make quick, simple, yet gloriously gorgeous cards. It would make a perfect gift for a friend!

Beverly has a You Tube video showcasing how you can use the kit.

At the moment there is a half price sale at The Artsystamper Shop - it is the perfect time to stock up on your card making digital stamps and papers.

Here is my card:

I used the pretty grey floral paper to showcase the gorgeous watercolour image. The sheets are intended to 'Print and Go'. I edged the paper with Smoked Hickory Distress Oxide. Next, I simply chose a stitched square die to cut out the floral image and a slightly larger die to cut out the pink mat. I actually cut out two floral images so that I could fussy cut elements from the second one to pop on foam dots to give a little dimension. I inked around the edges of the fussy cut elements to add more definition and visual texture. The sentiment was simple cut and popped on foam tape.
I think this is such a pretty card. The whole set is fabulous and well worth purchasing, especially as there is 50% off through to September 15th!

That's all for today!
I hope you will hop on over to Artsystamper Digitals Challenge Blog and enter our challenge! You will also see more inspiring designs from the Artsystamper Addicts Design Team ... so much fun.
