Vera Lane Studio: On the Trail

Hello

A huge welcome to Jane Savage and Pat Crossland - thank you for your support!

It's my Vera Lane Studio DT day and we have a new digi set in store today called On The Trail.  It has a gorgeous little girl and her dog as the main images, some boulders and stones as well as hills and two sentiments.

Here is what I made:

I started a home-made, disc bound journal and popped this page into it.
I coloured the images with Copic markers and finished them off with Polychromo pencils. They are fussy cut and adhered directly onto the background.
The background was stamped with one of Janet's stencils (Dandelion Field) and Distress Oxide inks. Stamping was added, using stamps from both Background Noise and Visual Ingredients, in tone on tone colours using green inks and using black inks around the edges. I made a trail by stamping with black ink and I added some torn washi beneath it. Paint and inky splatters were added to the background.

That's all for now.
I hope you'll come along and play on Vera Lane. It's such a friendly, fun place to be!

Gecko Galz: Sunflowers for Ukraine

 Hello

Gecko Galz have a Sunflowers for Ukraine collage set in their store and all proceeds from sales are being donated to Samaritian's Purse, responding to the crisis in Ukraine.

Here is a little more about them:

Samaritan's Purse stands ready to respond at a moment’s notice whenever and wherever disaster strikes. We specialize in meeting critical needs for victims of conflict, disaster, famine, and epidemics throughout the world, often working through ministry partners on the ground. We provide food, water, shelter, medicine, and other assistance.

I made a simple card using just one of the 17 images in the set:

I teamed the image with paper from the China Shop paper pack and used blue card stock for matting. The sentiment is a Small Talk sticker.

I am donating £2 to the Red Cross Ukraine Appeal for every handmade card (or other project) using this charity set which is placed in the 'Sunflowers For Ukraine' folder on the Gecko Galz Paper Crafting Facebook page. My lovely friend, Marcia, has also pledged the same donation per card.

Do come and join us and help to raise funds.

You can get your collage set here:

Path of Positivity: Childhood

Hello

Welcome to the March Path of Positivity Challenge.

Our challenge is always Anything Goes with an optional theme.

This month's option is to design a project that focuses on celebrating something special about our childhood.

Honours and Prizes include:
  • $6 worth of images from Scribbles Designs, for a person chosen in a random draw based on all qualifying entrants.
  • A badge for the following honours: Top PickVoter's ChoiceMost InspirationalRandom WinnerDT Delight.
In my project I used a vintage digital stamp from Gecko Galz. It depicts two children playing outdoors and it represents the joy and freedom that I had with my younger sister when we were children. Weekends were always special - we would go on a trip to the seaside or for a picnic in the countryside, or on some occasions we would visit a stately home. If time was limited we would visit the park, feed the animals and have fun on the playground swings and slides. There was always somewhere to go and fun things to do.

The adorable digi stamp is one of twenty five stamps from the set Sweet Child of Mine. I used Copic markers to colour it and made a die cut frame from patterned paper. I used co-ordinating papers to make the background and added a sticker sentiment as well as a flower embellishment and some trim.

We would love to see your creations!
Just make sure that your entry is positive, inspirational, motivational or encouraging in some way!
The link up is here: Challenge #99 Path of Positivity.

That's all for today!
Many thanks to Scribbles Designs for sponsoring the challenge.

I'll be back with a another Path of Positivity project in a couple of weeks time.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Vera Lane Studio: Sunflower

Hello

Welcome to the first week of spring. I am really looking forward to longer days and warmer weather.

Today is my Vera Lane Studio DT day and I have a journal page featuring the beautiful Sunflower.

As sunflowers are the unofficial national flower of Ukraine, I decided to use the Ukraine flag colours for my project background. I smooshed Broken China Distress Ink onto white card and, when it was dry, smooshed Fossilised Amber into the bottom portion. I added some tone on tone stamping using Janet Klein's 'X or O' stamp set from AALL & Create. I also added stamping using the same set in black around the page edges.

Sunflower was coloured with Copics and fussy cut. She was a little fiddly to cut, but was well worth the effort!  She was popped on some torn washi tape to ground her and the flowers were placed alongside her. I love the sun - it looks like a sunflower head in the sky.
I cut the sentiment into strips and edited it to read 'stand tall and find the sunlight'.

That's all for now.
I hope you'll come along and play on Vera Lane. It's such a friendly, fun place to be!

Gecko Galz: Birds and Bees and Butterflies

Hello

The month of March heralds the arrival of Springtime, and over at the Gecko Galz blog our customer challenge theme is Birds and Bees.
We also have the monthly Image Challenge and the monthly Christmas Image Challenge, as well as 4 Facebook challenges.
We hope you can find some time to join in the fun.

The winner of the Customer challenge will get a $25 Gecko Galz Etsy Store voucher and the runner up a $12 voucher. There are plenty of free Gecko Galz images if you don't already own any. Each blog post has a free image to collect and, if you sign up for the monthly newsletter, there is the chance to claim a free collage set each month.  Also if you make any purchase of $2 or more you receive a free image.

For my DT day, I made some pretty notecards featuring birds and butterflies.

My birdie notecards were really simple to make:

I enlarged the ATCs from the Dream Garden set, digitally added one of the Spring Time Sentiments and matted it onto black card. I fussy cut the robin and the yellow bird from the Little Birds Collage Set and the blue tit from the Garden Botanica paper pack, and I popped them on foam pads to give them some dimension.

These are my favourite ATCs ... I love the beautiful flowers and the colours.

The 4 x 4 inch butterfly notecards were another simple make.

The images are from the new Butterflies and Bees collage set. I printed each image twice, once for the base and I fussy cut the butterfly from the second print and adhered it just at the body so that the wings are free. I applied Glossy Accents to the butterfly's body and I added a Small Talk sticker on each card.

Here are my Customer Challenge Inspiration projects.
You can read about them here is you so wish.

Dashing Crow Green

Hello

Dashing Crow is making another appearance today. I love this steampunk bird and think he makes a super masculine card - something I usually struggle with.

The crow was stamped in Versafine Nocturne onto white card and fussy cut. He was also stamped onto a piece of inked A6 card and a mask made, so that I could stamp and heat emboss the background with #280 Enumerated from AALL & Create..  White paint splatters were applied over the background.

The crow was popped on foam tape and a sentiment banner made.  The Happy Birthday sentiment is from #405 Doodled Numbers.

All stamps are from AALL & Create.

That's all for now.

Winter Cottage

 Hello

I made a winter scene using some Inkylicious stamps and Distress Oxides.

I blended Distress Oxides to create the winter sky, using a torn piece of paper to mask the ground. I splattered some water to bleach out some colour, then stamped the Tall Pine Trees.
The Winter Cabin was stamped and some snow mounds made, again using torn paper as a mask to create shadows for the snow banks. Extra trees were added around the cottage and some foreground wintery twigs (Bare Branches).
White paint splatters were added as falling snow and some silver glitter gel pen was used to highlight the snow on the cottage and trees.

That's all for now.

Vera Lane Studio: Bright Day

 Hello

Today is my DT day at Vera Lane Studio and we have a new digi set release called Bright Day. It has 9 digis, including a very cute girl, 2 birds, 2 clouds, 3 flowers and a sentiment.

I made a journal page:

The background is brayered PaperArtsy Fresco Paints which have been stamped over with white acrylic, spritzed with water, and a stencil (#39 Lotza Dotz).. I added some watercolour pencils to outline some of the stencilled circles in the background. I also added some white paint splatters with a Posca pen and some stamping, using Janet's # 338 Background Noise and #494 X or O, and concentrating on the edges. I inked around the edges in black.

The images are coloured with Copic markers and fussy cut. I love the flowers in this set - they remind me very much of the collage fodder which is popular right now. Some torn washi tape, #21 Beachrock, acts as grounding for my characters.

That's all for now.
I hope you'll come along and play on Vera Lane. It's such a friendly, fun place to be!
