* Vera Lane Studio: Little Birds

Hello

For my Vera Lane Studio project this week I made a couple of ATCs.

Recently the Bird's Nest digi set was released and so I coloured up the image and since I love both sentiments I found another girl and birdie from an older set called Joyful (available on request).

I coloured my images with Copic markers and fussy cut them. They are adhered to a background made from stamping in Oxides with one of Janet's stencils, #116 Tre Fiori. Extra stamping was added in toning Oxides and also in black as a border using #470 Reverse Diamonds and #484 Scripted Diamonds,

Janet's 'Wishy Washi' washi tape grounds the girls. The sentiments were cut up into strips and adhered.

That's all for now.

I hope you'll come along and play on Vera Lane. It's such a friendly, fun place to be!

* AALL & Create: Sew Happy

Hello

It's my GDT day at AALL & Create and I have a mixed media page to share.
This week I enjoyed revisiting some older stamps for my background. One of my favourite things to do is to combine AALL & Create stamps from different designers. I had great fun making this sewing themed page.

I love how the background colours turned out. I wasn't happy with my initial colour choices (Fossilised Amber and Picked Raspberry), so I added some Frayed Burlap and then inked over in Peacock Feathers. It made a beautiful grungy background and the white embossing pops against this dark colour..

I added water to the Lotza Diamonds stencil and held it over the background. The bleached out diamonds are subtle, but add a lot of texture.

The machine stitching adds more texture and fits the sewing theme. I really like the two contrasting fonts and the vintage style background with the cute, and quirky Material Girl.

The background has an air of luminosity.

How it came together:
1. I heat embossed parts of the stamps from Sewing Forever and Heartfelt into a collage and heat embossed in white.
2. I smooshed the card into various Distress Oxides.
3. I blended Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide over the colours.

4. I spritzed the stencil with water and held it over the inks to bleach out some of the colour.

5. I stitched around the edges of the background and added Reverse Diamonds in black along the edge of the background.
6. The words 'Weird and Wonderful' from the Sewing Forever stamp set were stamped in black, cut out, inked around the edges and adhered over the background.

7. I decided to mat the piece onto a second piece of card, so I inked the edges and bleached out some colour with the Diamond stencil.
8. I machine stitched around the edges.

9. I stamped images in Memento ink so that I could colour with Copic markers.
In the end I didn't use the cotton bobbin.

* C.R.A.F.T GDT: Shabby Chic Ice Queen

Hello!

I am delighted to be joining C.R.A.F.T. Challenge Blog for a month of Guest DT posts. Thank
you to Jo and the C.R.A.F.T. Team for inviting me.

The challenge theme this fourth and final week is Shabby Chic and the sponsors are Colour of Love and SheepSki Designs.

I was fortunate to receive this beautiful image, called Ice Queen, from SheepSki Designs. Here is my project:

I coloured the image with Copic markers. I added Glossy Accents to the jewels in her head dress. I used a die to cut the image out. Keeping the die in place, I lightly blended Pumice Stone Distress Oxide around the image. I added some Quickie Glue pen and some iridescent glitter to the snowflakes and to the Ice Queen's eyebrows.

I I used some pretty pearlescent card to die cut the lacy borders and tucked them behind the image and also behind the patterned paper image mat. The image itself is popped on foam tape for some dimension. I added several layers of distressed edged mats finishing with a pearly silver one.

The pink, organza bow was attached to the top left corner and a gemstone flower to the bottom right corner.

Many thanks to Colour of Love and Sheepski Designs for sponsoring the challenge.

That's all for now.

You can enter the C.R.A.F.T. challenge twice - we hope to see you there.
Thanks for stopping by today.

* Path of Positivity: Great Ideas

 Hello

Today is the midway point in the June  Path of Positivity challenge.
The challenge lasts for the whole month of June.

This month the theme is Anything Goes with the optional twist of
Try Something New.

Prizes this month include:

  • THREE digital images from Pattie's Creationsour guest sponsor for this month, for a person chosen in a random draw based on all qualifying entrants.
  • ONE image (value of $5 or less) from Scribbles Designs, for the post or project that the team deems most inspiring of the bunch based on all qualifying entrants.
  • One digital image from Creative Bug Digital SnapShots for each person chosen as a DT Delight.

Our optional theme this month is
Try Something New
This could be trying a new craft technique, or designing a journal or scrapbook page. Or, like me, it could be a new life experience. Reach out beyond your comfort zone - feel proud and rejuvenated.

There are so many ways you can interpret the optional theme this month. We are waiting to see your take on the theme.

Please remember ...
... in order to be eligible for the prizes your project must be positive, inspirational, motivational or encouraging in some way.

Here is my project using Scribbles Design's Carla Diet Queen Diva.

Yes, you guessed it - my latest 'try something new' is trying to shed a few of those lockdown pounds. Carla Diet Queen Diva really appeals to my sense of humour; to be honest this is the only way I'm going to get the scales to register less than the previous week! The snarky sentiment also makes me smile :)

I coloured Carla with Copics and added some Polychromo pencil shading. She was fussy cut and popped onto an ink blended, stencilled background. I added some darker ink to act as grounding and stamped around the edges in black for a border. I added some water splatters to bleach out a little colour from the stencilling and then added some white paint splatters.

Many thanks to Pattie's Creations, this month's guest sponsor,

and to Scribbles Designs as the ongoing sponsor of the challenge

We would love to see your creations!
Just make sure that your entry is positive, inspirational, motivational or encouraging in some way!

That's all for today!

I'll be back with a another Path of Positivity project in a couple of weeks time.

Thanks for stopping by today!

* Vera Lane Studio: Be Kind

 Hello

It's my DT day again at Vera Lane Studio. and today sees the release of a new digi set called Toucan Do.

It's a quirky, fun set with 3 images and 2 sentiments.

I made a journal page:

I coloured the images with Copic markers and fussy cut them. The background was stamped with the stencil and Distress Oxide inks, then ink was blended around the edges and some tone on tone stamping done with Janet's AALL & Create background stamp sets (#338 and #404). Text was added in black ink around the edges to act as a border.
The little girl and the bird were grounded with Janet's #17 washi tape.

I adore this sentiment:

Toucan Do

That's all for now.

I hope you'll come along and play on Vera Lane. It's such a friendly, fun place to be!

* Gecko Galz: Rodeo Girls

  Hello,

Today is my DT day at Gecko Galz.

This month at Gecko Galz we have a Wild West Sweetheart challenge theme. My projects today are based on this theme.

First of all, I have a trio of ATCs:

The lovely images are from the Rodeo Galz Digital Kit, as are the ornate frames. The wanted poster is from the Ride Em Cowgirl Kit.

My second project is a card. I decided to make some faux fence panelling for my background by scoring white card and swiping distress oxide inks in various shades of browns and greys.

I wanted to highlight the turquoise background, so I inked some white card and die cut the letters for my sentiment. I also die cut three hearts. I added Glossy Accents over the sentiment and hearts. The lovely image is from the Rodeo Sweetheart collage set, whilst the frames, papers and the gingham bow are from the  Ride Em Cowgirl Digital Kit.

My final project is the one I made as customer inspiration for this challenge and you can see it here.

That's all for now!
I hope you'll join our Wild West Sweetheart challenge where the winner will get a $25 shopping spree at the Gecko Galz shop.

The only rule is that you must use at least one Gecko Galz product
