Path of Positivity: Mandala

 Hello

Welcome to the midway reminder for the June Path of Positivity Challenge.

Our challenge is always Anything Goes with an optional theme.

This month's option is to design a project that is inspired by a pattern.

Honours and Prizes include:

  • $6 worth of images from Scribbles Designs, for a person chosen in a random draw based on all qualifying entrants.
  • A badge for the following honours: Top PickVoter's ChoiceMost InspirationalRandom WinnerDT Delight.
A pattern is a repeated decorative design and a mandala is a perfect example.
This stamp has been in my stash for ages:

I heat embossed the mandala in white then blended over with oxide inks (Spiced Marmalade, Ripe Persimmon and Picked Raspberry).  I used a die to cut out the centre and stamped the "all about you' sentiment directly onto the inked surface. I also heat embossed the 'sending hugs' onto black card.
The mandala was raised on foam tape and three sequins were added to the middle section.

That's all for now.
We would love to see your creations!
Just make sure that your entry is positive, inspirational, motivational or encouraging in some way!
The link up is here: Challenge #113 Path of Positivity.

Many thanks to Scribbles Designs for sponsoring the challenge.

I'll be back with a another Path of Positivity project in a couple of weeks time.

Thanks for stopping by today!

* Vera Lane Studio: Snow Much Fun

 Hello

Happy Boxing Day!

I hope you had a lovely Christmas Day, if you celebrate.

At Vera Lane Studio, we have a new-ish digi set called Snow Much Fun and I made what for me is a clean and simple journal page with the adorable squishy characters:

This is what we should be doing today - shaking away the cobwebs and whizzing down slopes on sledges (or at least taking a brisk walk :) )

I coloured the digis with Copics and fussy cut them. The background was inked with Elements Inks and using torn paper masks to create the skyline and the snow banks. White embossing enamel was scattered and heated from underneath to produce the snow effect and the sentiment was cut into strips.

That's all for now.

I hope you'll come along and play on Vera Lane. It's such a friendly, fun place to be!

* Path of Positivity: Great Ideas

 Hello

Today is the midway point in the June  Path of Positivity challenge.
The challenge lasts for the whole month of June.

This month the theme is Anything Goes with the optional twist of
Try Something New.

Prizes this month include:

  • THREE digital images from Pattie's Creationsour guest sponsor for this month, for a person chosen in a random draw based on all qualifying entrants.
  • ONE image (value of $5 or less) from Scribbles Designs, for the post or project that the team deems most inspiring of the bunch based on all qualifying entrants.
  • One digital image from Creative Bug Digital SnapShots for each person chosen as a DT Delight.

Our optional theme this month is
Try Something New
This could be trying a new craft technique, or designing a journal or scrapbook page. Or, like me, it could be a new life experience. Reach out beyond your comfort zone - feel proud and rejuvenated.

There are so many ways you can interpret the optional theme this month. We are waiting to see your take on the theme.

Please remember ...
... in order to be eligible for the prizes your project must be positive, inspirational, motivational or encouraging in some way.

Here is my project using Scribbles Design's Carla Diet Queen Diva.

Yes, you guessed it - my latest 'try something new' is trying to shed a few of those lockdown pounds. Carla Diet Queen Diva really appeals to my sense of humour; to be honest this is the only way I'm going to get the scales to register less than the previous week! The snarky sentiment also makes me smile :)

I coloured Carla with Copics and added some Polychromo pencil shading. She was fussy cut and popped onto an ink blended, stencilled background. I added some darker ink to act as grounding and stamped around the edges in black for a border. I added some water splatters to bleach out a little colour from the stencilling and then added some white paint splatters.

Many thanks to Pattie's Creations, this month's guest sponsor,

and to Scribbles Designs as the ongoing sponsor of the challenge

We would love to see your creations!
Just make sure that your entry is positive, inspirational, motivational or encouraging in some way!

* Cat Lovers Hop: Cats on a Branch

Hello!

Have you heard?
It's the Cat Lovers Hop hosted by Janis at Her Peaceful Garden.
This year is the fifth hop and it's a crazy week filled with crafting, commenting and celebrating cats of all sizes. There are fabulous sponsors and prizes to be won, but best of all, friendships to be forged with like minded cat lovers from around the world. Why don't you come and join us?

Here is my second card:

The card was inked with Distress Oxides in Antique Linen, Spiced Pumpkin, Vintage Photo and Worn Lipstick. I splattered some water droplets to bleach out some colour and blotted with a paper towel. I created a moon using a die cut circle, and hills using a torn piece of paper, by blending ink around the paper. I made a bit of a botched job with the blue around the moon, forgetting to blend the sponge off on spare card before adding it to the background.
I used a super, polymer, silhouette stamp from Inkylicious Stamps called Cats on a Branch, and made sure my cat couple were inside the moon spotlight. Bare Branches were stamped along the left side of the card and along the top edge. The lovely sentiment was added in the bottom right corner.
I inked the edges of the background with black archival ink and matted first onto white card, then onto black and popped it onto a 6 x 6 inch  card base.

That's all for now!

If You Give A Crafter A Cookie: Bugaboo Penguins

Hello crafty friends!

I hope your week is going well.
Here in the NW of England we are managing to keep warm and haven't had the snow ... yet.

Today is the start of a brand new challenge at
If You Give A Crafter A Cookie.
You can enter your projects until January 25th.

Our sponsor is the wonderful Bugaboo Stamps.

And here is the image to spark your imagination:

Such beautiful penguin and snowflake cookies.
How will they inspire you?

I was lucky to be given a Bugaboo stamp to work with - it's the Penguin Trio Block and I went along with a similar colour scheme to the photo.

The image  was coloured with Spectrum Noir markers and iridescent glitter applied to the snow caps and flakes. The image was matted on to black card.
The background was made by blending distress inks (Tim Holtz  Spun Sugar and Shaded Lilac) onto satin silk art card from Inkilicious. Snowflake clusters were stamped in clear embossing ink to give a watermark effect, then some snowflakes were heat embossed with Snowflake Tinsel embossing powder. The background was then matted onto black card and the image block adhered on foam pads.

That's all from me for today. Now it's over to you...

Please pop over to the
If You Give A Crafter A Cookie
challenge blog to check out the lovely designs by the rest of the DT.

We would love for you to share your projects in the challenge!

You could win digi stamps or become one of our 'Top Cookies'!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Vera Lane Studio: Foxes' Evening Stroll

Hello!

I'm super excited to be publishing my first DT post for Vera Lane Studio.

Janet, the owner and artist at Vera Lane Studiohas created some delightfully quirky and whimsical characters. They come in sets which can easily be mixed and matched. Today sees the released an adorable set of digital stamps called 'Foxes'. They are the start of a new collection called the Woodlands Collection.

So, onto my project ... I made this card:

I'm thrilled to say that I won Top Pick at Outlawz Twisted Thursday Challenge.

My foxes are taking a romantic evening stroll!

I coloured the images with Spectrum Noir alcohol pens. The robins and snail have Glossy Accents applied to their eyes. Here are the colours I used:

Fox fur: OR1, TN4, TN5      Fox cheek fur: EB1 and Blender
Mr Fox: Jeans: TB1, TB2, TB4    Bodywarmer: EB1, EB2    Shirt: TB2, TB4, IG2         Boots and Collar: IG4, IG6
Mrs Fox: Dress: TB1, TB2, TB4    Scarf: CR7, CR9     Boots: IG4, IG6
Acorns: EB2, CG2, TN4, Blender
Snail: EB1, EB2, TN4, CG2
Robins: EB1, EB2, TN4, CR7

For the background I used super smooth art card from Inkylicious and used ink dusters to apply Tim Holtz Distress Inks in Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade, Crushed Olive and Vintage Photo. The Vintage Photo ink at the base was stippled onto the card to give a different texture. Next, the inked card was dry embossed using an embossing folder called Winter Wonderland which was a free gift with a recent Paper Inspirations magazine. There was also a free set of stamps, so I inked the birch trunks with Vintage Photo and stamped over the embossed areas.

The foxes were fussy cut leaving a thin white border. The smaller critters, acorns and leaves were fussy cut right to the black outlines. The leaves were arranged and glued onto the background, all the other elements were adhered on foam pads.

I matted my embossed card onto black card, them adhered it on foam tape to another layer which has textured gold paper on a black mat. The whole thing was then adhered to a white card base. My finished card measures 8 inches x 6 inches (20 cm x 15 cm).

The small elements are a little fiddly to fussy cut, but my tip would be to cut as close as you can to the black outline, then colour over the line to fill in any white bits, or run a pen along the edge. You can see below that I struggled with the snail's antennae, but when you look at the card as a whole, it's not so noticeable (I hope!).

This last photo shows the matted layers:

Here are the Vera Lane Studio sets I used:

Foxes                        September (leaves)           Lovely Garden (Bird)
