* Path of Positivity: Be a Rainbow

Hello

Welcome to the second Path of Positivity Challenge. of 2024.

Our challenge is always Anything Goes with an optional theme. We have decided that our overall theme for 2024 will be THE POWER OF WORDS.

This month's option is to design a project that is inspired by quotes about Love and Relationships.

Here are the quotes chosen for this month:: 

“Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud.” — Maya Angelou

“We can improve our relationships with others by leaps and bounds if we become encouragers instead of critics.” — Joyce Meyer

“Never above you. Never below you. Always beside you.” — Walter Winchell

“There is only one happiness in this life, to love and be loved.” — George Sand

 

Honours and Prizes include:

• $6 worth of images from Scribbles Designs, for a person chosen in a random draw based on all qualifying entrants.
• A badge for the following honours: Top Pick, Voter's Choice, Most Inspirational, Random Winner, DT Delight.

Here is my DT project.

I made a postcard for my mini journal using digi stamps from Vera Lane Studio. I used the pre-coloured rainbow from ROYGBIV, adding extra colour with Copic markers. The little characters, from Catch the Rainbow, and the grass are also coloured with Copic markers and Polychromo pencils. I made a brayered, acrylic paint background, added some white heat embossing and some paint splatters and adhered the images along with the quote from Maya Angelou.

* Vera Lane Studio: February's Heart

 

 Hello

It's Monday and my Vera Lane Studio DT day. 

(Just so that you know, I am taking a short break from Vera Lane Studio DT duties during February).

Today I'm using a newish digi set called February's Heart. It has the most adorable little girl and her puppy dog along with a flower and six sentiments.

Here is what I made:

I went with a CAS style this week. The lovely characters are coloured with Copic markers and fussy cut. They are on a gelli print background made with a mini gelli plate and PaperArtsy Fresco Chalk paints along with one of Janet's stencils from AALL & Create (#96 Dandelion Field). I added a hand drawn doodle border and matted it onto a painted piece of card, then popped it on a 5 inch card base..

* Vera Lane Studios: Celeste

 

 Hello

It's Monday and my Vera Lane Studio DT day. 

Today we have a new digi set in the Etsy store. It is Celeste - a beautiful girl and her puppy dog gazing up to the stars. She has a choice of three sentiments.  

Here is what I made:

I coloured the digi stamps with Copic markers and fussy cut them. The background was made with Distress Ink blending. I used a piece of torn paper to mask off the ground and coloured the sky, trying for a northern lights effect. White paint spatters replicate stars in the night sky. When dry, the sky was masked and the ground coloured with inks. I added some stamping in black to represent foliage silhouettes, then adhered the girl, grass and starts. The sentiment was cut into strips.

* Vera Lane Studio: Hello Winter

 Hello

It's Monday and my Vera Lane Studio DT day.  

I made a circular card this week with a newish set called January's Hat. It's a beautiful set featuring a cute girl in her winter coat and a polar bear. There are two hats, a bird and three sentiments.

Here is my card:

The background was heat embossed and then coloured with Distress Oxides (Cracked Pistachio and Broken China) spritzed with water and transferred from an acetate sheet onto the embossed background. White paint splatters were added along with the fussy cut, Copic coloured characters. Janet's wash tape grounds the characters.

* Vera Lane Studio: Sauvignon Blanc

 

Hello

It's Monday and my Vera Lane Studio DT day.  

Today Janet has released a new digi set called Sauvignon Blanc. It features a cute girl with an oversized glass of wine. She has a separate wine bottle and wine glass for accessories and two sentiments. 

Here is what I made:

I started by making the ATC. The background is stencil stamped using Oxide inks. I added a little black stamping and lots of white paint splatters. The character is coloured with Copics, fussy cut and adhered onto torn washi tape which grounds her. The sentiment was cut into strips and outlined in black.. I decided to make a background, again stamping with a stencil loaded with Oxide inks. It was matted onto black card and a piece of velvet trim was added along the bottom portion, A knot bow was placed on top of the trim and everything was adhered onto an A6 card base.

Vera Lane Studio: Happy New Year

Happy 2024

It's Monday, it's New Year's Day and it's also my Vera Lane Studio DT day.  

I made a card and a bookmark using two Vera Lane Studio digi sets. The card used the Happy New Year digs set and the bookmark features the Matilda 2024 set:

I used my usual Copic markers for colouring, adding a few white highlights and some Wink of Stella clear sparkle. Once the images were fussy cut, I adhered them to the snowflake, patterned paper backgrounds. I added some extra stamping and silver heat embossing to the papers, as apparently I haven't had enough of glitter yet :) Silver glitter tape acts as grounding.

Vera lane Studio: Winter Magic

 

 Hello

It's Monday, it's Christmas Day and it's my Vera Lane Studio DT day.  

A short while ago a digi set called Waddle On was released. It features two cute penguins with separate hats (a choice of two) and three sentiments. 

Here is what I made:

Isn't this the sweetest penguin!

My penguin CAS card has a simple stencilled background using Broken China Distress Oxide through an AALL & Create stencil. I added white paint splatters and popped the fussy cut, Copic coloured penguin on top. I added the fussy cut  Winter Magic sentiment.
