House Mouse: A Day Spent with Friends

Here's a card I made for the House Mouse and Friends Challenge.
The theme is "A Day Spent with Friends"

I remember summer days spent on beaches collecting shells and pebbles when I was little. In fact, come to think of it, I still do collect them! Who can resist the lovely colours and textures?

I used a decoupage sheet for this.

What I learned about decoupage was:
1. It's a lot, and I mean a LOT,  more tricky than I thought!
2. I need an alternative to foam pads, as some pieces were very small and fiddly to attach.
3. Those mice make me smile so much - such adorable faces!

I masked the main image around the edges and used ink dusters to add some blue to the sky and some extra beachy colours. I edged each decoupaged piece with inks to take away the white edges. Once the decoupaged image was complete, I matted it onto black card. This was added to another mat made from black and shimmery blue card.
Ivory heart ribbon was stuck along the bottom and tiny flat back pearls were added between the hearts. Two flowers were made from textured yellow card stock using hand held punches. A pearl heart was added to the centre of each.

Thanks for looking.

House Mouse and Butterfly

Hello!

Here is my House Mouse with Butterfly for the current House Mouse challenge.

I used charcoal patterned design paper for the background. The image is Daisy Float. I coloured it with Spectrum Noir markers and die cut it with a Cottage Cutz Stitched Rectangle Die. I left the die in place and inked the background using memento ink pads (in Dandelion, Bamboo Leaves and Danube Blue) and a blending tool - this left a white border. The image was matted onto a black stitched rectangle and the whole thing attached to the background on foam pads to give dimension. A white die cut doily was placed behind the matted image.

The banner is made from faux mother of pearl card which I made using pearl acrylic paint scrunched onto a ball of cling film and dabbed randomly onto white card. When it was dry, distress inks were applied with a blending tool. The pearl acrylic paint resists the ink and, when buffed, leaves a subtle, shimmery effect. It was die cut using the smallest Pierced Banner from Cheery Lynn Designs. The Papermania glitter sentiment was attached to the banner with a 3D butterfly.

The flower is a Spellbinders Create a Gerber Daisy die set. Although I find these very fiddly and time consuming, I love the result! All the parts were cut from white card and coloured with inks and a blending tool. The petals were inked in Dandelion and the leaves in Bamboo Leaves.  Prills were added to the centre of the flower.

This is the inside:

Patterned and plain lemon papers were used. The die cut is the second largest from the Spellbinders Labels Twenty set. The butterfly is die cut from a set which was free with Papercraft Essentials magazine Issue 134.

House Mouse In the Garden

The current challenge at House Mouse has the theme ' In the Garden'.

I am patiently awaiting the delivery of some House Mouse stamps, but as it's getting close to the closing date, I decided to use my one and only HMD stamp once more! It's the lovely little Monica mouse in 'Scent of Lilac' which is so apt at the moment as the lilac trees in my garden are in bud...I can't wait for them to blossom :)

Here is what I made:

I went with a pink lilac theme this time, colouring the stamped image with Spectrum Noir markers. The image was die cut with an Xcut scalloped circle and the background was inked with a blending tool in Memento Rose Bud.

A larger scalloped circle was cut from deeper pink design paper as a mat for the stamped image. I chose embossed dotty card from Jelly Bean Crafts as my background. The matted image was attached to the dotty card on foam pads.

Next I made some flowers from Heartfelt Creations. I stamped Vintage Morning Background in Rose Bud, then used the matching die (Majestic Blooms) to cut out the flowers. These were then shaped and layered, and a pink crystal gem placed in the middle of each one.

Some leaves were die cut from pale green design paper using the Spellbinders Foliage die set. The flowers and leaves were arranged around the matted stamped image. I used tiny foam pads to attach the leaves and glue dots to attach the flowers.

A piece of shocking pink lace (which was gifted to me in happy mail) was attached at the bottom of the dotty card. A glitter sentiment was made into a tag, with ribbon was added. The dotty card was then attached to the card base.

Lilac House Mouse

I'm really thrilled to say that this little mouse helped me be in the Top 3 at House Mouse and Friends Monday Challenge...eeeeeek!!

I've used my one and only house mouse stamp for this card.

I'm sure to start a collection of House Mouse stamps though, as they are simply adorable!

House-Mouse have their own challenge blog and I decided to play along.

The current challenge is a BLOG HOP CHALLENGE, HMFMC# 216 and the theme is to use stencils with a HMD stamp. The design team have loads of inspiration and there are some great prizes on offer.

Here is what I made.

I used a Crafter's Companion stencil called Mini Stick Flowers by Balzer Designs to create the background on white card stock. I applied Memento inks in Danube Blue, Lilac Posies and Rose Bud with a blending tool over the stencil, then inked the edges to make a border. I also blended some inks onto the House-Mouse image background.

The stamp is Scent of Lilac and features tiny Monica mouse. It is coloured with Spectrum Noir markers. It was die cut with an Xcut scalloped square, then trimmed into a rectangle, as I felt there was too much 'white space'. A larger rectangle of white card was also die cut and the image was mounted on foam pads.

I added ribbon along the bottom of the card and glued on some die cut flowers with lilac crystal gems for the centres, along with the sentiment. The whole card was then mounted on black card and attached to the card base.
