* Vera Lane Studio: February's Heart

 Hello

It's Monday and my Vera Lane Studio DT day.

(Just so that you know, I am taking a short break from Vera Lane Studio DT duties during February).

Today I'm using a newish digi set called February's Heart. It has the most adorable little girl and her puppy dog along with a flower and six sentiments.

Here is what I made:

I went with a CAS style this week. The lovely characters are coloured with Copic markers and fussy cut. They are on a gelli print background made with a mini gelli plate and PaperArtsy Fresco Chalk paints along with one of Janet's stencils from AALL & Create (#96 Dandelion Field). I added a hand drawn doodle border and matted it onto a painted piece of card, then popped it on a 5 inch card base..

That's all for now.

I hope you'll come along and play on Vera Lane. It's such a friendly, fun place to be!

Here's all the info you need:

Path of Positivity: Be Happy (Mood Board)

Hello

Welcome to the March Path of Positivity Challenge.

Our challenge is always Anything Goes with an optional theme.

This month's option is to design a project that is inspired by this mood board.

Honours and Prizes include:

  • $6 worth of images from Scribbles Designs, for a person chosen in a random draw based on all qualifying entrants.
  • A badge for the following honours: Top PickVoter's ChoiceMost InspirationalRandom WinnerDT Delight.

I was inspired by the geometric patterns in neutral shades of grey, the lacy texture and the floral elements. I chose kraft card for accents based upon the taupe colours in the swatch.
Here is my project:

I used a stencil and 3 shades of Distress Oxide to make the background: Pumice Stone, Hickory Smoke and Weathered Wood. In retrospect I could have gone a little darker with the ink blending. I die cut a lacy kraft card border to tuck my florals behind. The florals are from a Sizzix die set. I coloured the card first, then die cut and added splatters with white paint. I kept the sentiment simple, using a Tim Holtz sticker sentiment from the Small Talk pad.

That's all for now.
We would love to see your creations!
Just make sure that your entry is positive, inspirational, motivational or encouraging in some way!

That's all for today!
Many thanks to Scribbles Designs for sponsoring the challenge.

I'll be back with a another Path of Positivity project in a couple of weeks time.

* Path of Positivity: CAS Floral Greetings

  Hello

Welcome to the November Path of Positivity Challenge.

Our challenge is always Anything Goes with an optional theme.

This month's option is to design a project that focuses on celebrating THE SIMPLE THINGS IN LIFE.

Honours and Prizes include:
  • $6 worth of images from Scribbles Designs, for a person chosen in a random draw based on all qualifying entrants.
  • A badge for the following honours: Top PickVoter's ChoiceMost InspirationalRandom WinnerDT Delight.
I decided to make a trio of CAS cards as technically they are quite simple to make. However, in real life, I find them rather tricky (probably because I am a messy crafter) and am prone to get inky spots where there shouldn't be any.
It is no secret that I love all things to do with nature, so I chose simple grasses and wild flower stamps from Inkylicious along with simple, yet beautiful and bold sentiments.

The stamping was completed first and I used a stamp platform to make sure the silhouette stamps and words were crisp and black. Next I used torn paper as a mask on two sides of the base so that I could make a strip of colour. I used blending brushes and Distress Inks. The cards were matted onto black card then popped onto a white card base.

We would love to see your creations!
Just make sure that your entry is positive, inspirational, motivational or encouraging in some way!

Thank you, ladies  - I feel honoured :)

Welcome to Day 5 of the Cat Lovers Hop 2021.

Another big hello to all my furry, feline-loving friends!

The Cat Lovers Hop is an annual event hosted by the lovely Janis over on her blog at Her Peaceful Garden.

If you like cats pop over and have a look at the fun games and awesome prizes that Janis has organised for the next two days.

Today I used my favourite cat stamp,  Toby Cat from Inkylicious for this CAS card and I coupled him with a HobbyArt stamp FMDA101.

I love Toby cat's quizzical look and he reminds me very much of a tuxedo kitty we had called Indiana. Indiana Jones (yes ... that's our surname) really did live up to his name - he was quite the adventurer. My hubby has written several short stories depicting some of Indie's antics and adventures, and, of course, he anthropomorphised this legendary, funny kitty. who will live in our hearts forever.💗💗💗

I let the images do the work here and matted and layered on black and turquoise card for a pop of colour. I added some torn washi tape (AALL & Create #24 Power Words) to ground them.

That's all for now.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Vera Lane Studio: Sunny Days

 Hello

Today is my DT day at Vera Lane Studio and today we have a new digi set release called Sunny Days.

Here is what I made:

I do love the small format of ATCs and the Vera Lane digi sets fit perfectly to any sized project, as they can be sized up or down to fit your needs. Each set contains all you need to make a little scene - focal image, extra, small images and sentiments; the smaller digis are so versatile as they can be used alongside any other sets to add extra details.

I coloured the images with Copic markers and fussy cut them. They have a background made by stamping with a stencil and some extra 'Visual Ingredients' stamps added for texture and interest. Washi tape acts as grounding for the images.

It was my doggy-niece's second birthday yesterday, so I made her a card:

I kept the card clean and simple using the blooms printed onto white card as my background. The doggie is coloured with Copics and fussy cut leaving a thin white border. He is popped on foam tape to add dimension.

The blooms are from Blooms and the adorable dog is from Farm Set 2.

* Blue Butterfly

Hello!

I'm sharing a card that I made after seeing a You Tube video by the wonderfully talented Tracy Evans. I had to use similar colours as I thought the card was beautiful.

Clean and Simple is not a style that comes easily to me and leaving white space is something that I really struggle with. However, I am so pleased with this. Distress Oxides were used to colour the strip and the circle whilst watercolour pens were used for the butterfly. The stamps are from AALL & Create, #449 Through the Meadows and #458 Hibiscus.

That's all for today.

Thanks for stopping by.

Cat Lovers Hop: Day 3 - Toby Cat

Hello!

This year is the sixth Cat Lovers Hop and it's a crazy week filled with crafting, commenting and celebrating cats of all sizes. There are fabulous sponsors and prizes to be won, but best of all, friendships to be forged with like minded cat lovers from around the world.
Why don't you come and join us?

Here is my card for Day 3:

I made this CAS card simply by stamping with Versafine Clair Nocturn onto white card. I used two stamps, both from Inkylicious, a small, family-run business here in the UK. I used Toby Cat - isn't he handsome. I used to have a tuxedo cat exactly like him many years ago. She was called Holly because we adopted her the week before Christmas. I teamed Toby Cat with Daisy Fields
I find it quite difficult to make CAS cards; I always feel that I should add more. This time I decided to mat and layer my image three times and then I popped it onto a 5 x 7inch card base.

That's all for now!

* Vera Lane Studio: Flower Crowns

Hello!

Well - winter has returned here in the UK! Yesterday we had hail and sleet along with strong gusts of wind ...  great weather for cosying up with a book or a good film, or even losing yourself in crafting!

Today is my Vera Lane Studio DT day and I've made cards with the Flower Crowns digi set which was released last week. The three images are totally adorable and the three sentiments are just lovely! To be honest I can't choose a favourite from these girls, so I made a set!

Here are my cards:

I went for a CAS style so the beautiful ladies can speak for themselves! I coloured the images with Copics and fussy cut them leaving a narrow white border. I placed them, on foam pads, onto  a piece of embossed white card and matted that on colour coordinating card. This was then matted onto white card which was in turn attached on foam tape, for dimension, to the 5 x 5 inch card base.
I found these gorgeous jewel-coloured mulberry paper flowers by Little Birdie at my local craft store and decided to add one to each card along with a leaf.

There was no room on the front for the lovely sentiments, so I added them on a colour coordinated mat to the inside of each card.

I hope you'll come along and play on Vera Lane.
