At last, it's here .... the Cat Lovers Christmas Challenge, organised by Jo at the Christmas Kickstart Challenge. 

Each October for the past 8 years, our dear friend Janis Woolbright of Her Peaceful Garden blog, held a week-long Cat Lovers Hop. This week was always eagerly anticipated by kitty loving crafters world-wide and Janis made it a very special week of fun where new friendships were forged. Sadly, Janis passed away in January this year.

Jo consulted with Janis's son and they agreed upon this one -off challenge to honour and remember this truly remarkable lady.

The challenge is running until the last day of October. You can enter up to 6 cards. 

There's a whole host of generous sponsors. Winners will be chosen at random, but you have to be in it to win it, so link up your Christmas kitty cards, leave some comments or just display the above badge on your blog and other social media to be in with a chance of winning. Oh, and don't forget to sign up in the comments section of Day 1.

For today's cat card I used a Stampendous stamp designed by Laurel Burch called Holly Cat. I won this stamp in the 2018 Cat Lovers Hop and treasure it, as I once had a sweet kitty cat called Holly who lived with us for 18 glorious years.

Here is my card - it's a little bit green :)

I stamped the image with Momento ink and coloured with Copic markers. I fussy cut it and placed it onto a brayered acrylic paint background.  I embossed a larger background, inking the inside of the folder with Versamark so that I could add gold embossing powder. It is such a long time since I did this technique that I inked the wrong side of the folder. Nevertheless, I added embossing powder and heated it - I like how it turned out. I swiped the edges of my backgrounds through the Versafine and added further gold embossing powders. The sentiment is also stamped and heat embossed.

Cat Lovers Hop: Angel Cat

Here is my fifth card:



It's another Laurel Burch stamp and it looks like I have a lime green and turquoise theme going on this year! I coloured this sweet Angel Cat with Copic markers, adding my usual white dots and highlights. I was intending trying to make a CAS card, but it didn't quite turn out that way. 
I started the background by stamping with the Mini Distresses Tree Poly Plate from Crafty Roo. It's a little like a gelli plate, but with form and texture, I applied Twisted Citron and Peacock Feathers DO inks to the stamp, spritzed with water and stamped to give a lovely, artsy, watercolour tree.
I stamped Angel Cat alongside the tree, placed some gold glitter washi tape and popped the fussy cut coloured cat on foam tape to add some dimension. The halo and stars were coloured with a gold Posca pen. I inked around the background's edges with a Twisted Citron/Peacock Feather mix and doodled a hand drawn border with a fine liner pen. The tree looked like it needed decorating, so I added some tiny, gold coloured crystal gems and some shiny gold sequins. I finished with a gold, heat embossed, wooden star and heart for the top of the tree. The background was matted onto turquoise textured paper and popped onto a 5 x 5 inch card base.

Here is my fourth card:

I love Laurel Burch images! I'm a big fan of colour - the brighter, the better in my book, so Laurel Burch images are purr-fect for me! Holly Cat was the prize that I won in the 2018 Cat Lovers Hop and I have kept it in its packaging until now. 
I used to have a cat named Holly - a sweet natured, tuxedo that we adopted as a tiny kitten. She lived happily for 18 years and loved to travel in the car when we went to visit friends for the weekend. 



I coloured the image with Copic markers and added some white highlights and dots with a white Posca paint pen. I made the plaid-like background by brayering Twisted Citron and Peacock Feathers Distress Oxides horizontally and vertically onto 300 gsm card. The card edges were inked with Peacock Feathers and then black archival ink.
I fussy cut around the frame of the image and popped it on foam tape for dimension. I stamped the sentiment (free with a magazine last year) onto white card, inked the edges with Peacock Feathers and glued it directly onto the background.

It's Day 6 of the Cat Lovers' Blog Hop - the final day for link ups! 
Have you visited Janis's blog yet?  There's lots going on including giveaways, games and crafting ideas! Pop over and take a look! 

 I'm back to share another of my makes - this time a card using the iconic Laurel Burch Indigo Cats.

I went for a more subdued colour palette today, but one that used the rich golden tones of autumn. Mama and baby cat are coloured with Copic markers and fussy cut. They are popped onto a background made with Distress Oxides spritzed with water. I dipped the mixed media card into the inks trying to get the lightest colours in the centre. Dipping, dabbing and drying in-between colours is the only way to go! When I was satisfied with the coverage, I added some Vintage Photo Distress Oxide around the edges of the card to deepen the border area, then I inked the edges with Ranger black ink. I decided to add some gold paint through the stencil which comes with the Indigo Cat stamp set. The paint didn't show up as well as I wished, so I went around the shapes with a black fine liner pen. I swiped some gold paint along the edges too.  I added some sequin waste to the base of the card and popped the cats on foam tape for a little dimension.

It's Day 3 of the Cat Lovers' Blog Hop. If you haven't popped over to Janis's blog yet, you must do so!

 I'm back to share another of my Laurel Burch stamped cards. This one features a stamp called A Bunch of Love.



I went with traditional bright colours and tried to graduate the shades into one another. I used Copics to colour the stamp and added some green and white Posca paint pen for the flower stems and gold Posca paint pen for some of the flower centres and dots on the kitty, although these don't show very well in the photos. 

The background was made with Brushos and stamped with a Laurel Burch border set.

I'm so excited that the Cat Lover's Blog Hop is here! I love seeing everyone's feline creations and hearing about their kitty escapades!

Janis at Her Peaceful Garden hosts the blog hop and this is the fourth one! A tremendous amount of work goes into the preparations for the hop, and we are so grateful for the time and effort she spends to make this hop a highlight of the crafting year!

Janis has outdone herself this year with a stunning line up of 28 sponsors offering generous prizes. Janis will also host daily games and we will have tons of fun getting to know each other. I hope you'll come along and play - you don't even need a blog to be part of the fun!

So ... on to business. This year I treated myself to three sets of Laurel Burch cat stamps from Stampendous.

Here is my first card:

Yes... I've started with the big cats - this set is called Leopard Jungle. I coloured the image with Copics and fussy cut it (that took what seemed like forever!). To hide my imperfections  and to conceal any white card, I ran a black Copic marker around the cut edges. I popped the image on foam pads and attached it to a blended Distress Ink background. I matted my background onto black card and placed it onto a card blank.
