* Creative Artiste: Beautiful Blooms

Hello!

I am delighted to say that I have been invited to guest design at the Creative Artiste Mixed Media blog today.

I decided to make a small canvas (10 x 12 inches) using PaperArtsy stamps and stencils designed by Tracy Scott after I had seen a beautiful project made by Claire Snowden. Here is Claire's project that inspired me.

Here is what I made:

I have a few more close ups and them some work in progress photos ...

I love these big blooms. I added white Posca Pen marks to the stamen and gave them a die cut centre for some extra dimension.

The clay vase is decorated with a tile pattern from Stencil #PS2!! . I added gold wax lightly over the surface.

This photo shows the dimension a bit more clearly.

Next I have my work in progress photos:

1. I painted the canvas with Vanilla PaperArtsy Fresco paint and blended Caramel (wet on wet) around the edges.
2. Crackle Paste was added through Stencil #PS210.  I used masking tape to line up the stencil.

3.  I brayered black paint onto the leaf stamp and stamped it onto the canvas. The print was not good, but easily fixed with a small paintbrush. I decided to stamp some leaves onto card and cut them out.

4. The vase was made from air dry clay and the pattern made by pressing the stencil on top. When dry, I painted the vase with Chalk Fresco and lightly added some gold wax with my finger.

.5.  The flowers from set TS047 were stamped onto card coloured with warm colours.

6. Gold and white paint splatters were added to the finished piece and some gold wax was blended around the edge of the canvas.

That's all for now.
Thank you to Andree for asking me to guest design.
I hope you'll pop over to Creative Artiste to see what the DT have made and maybe enter their challenge.

Thanks for stopping by today.

* Possibilities Circular Canvas

Hello!

Today I am sharing a mixed media canvas I made during an online workshop with Tracy Evans.

The piece is 30cm in diameter and so makes a lovely wall piece. The centre silhouette is from the Eclectic Silhouette stamp from AALL & Create.

Distress Oxides in Fossilised Amber and Hickory Smoke make the base colour, along with background stamping and stencilling with texture paste. Paint splatters also give more texture. The chipboard words remind us to try things out of our comfort zone.

Paint dripage and shadows drawn with watercolour pencils accentuate the textured circles. Tim Holtz alpha tape and index clips were used as decoration.

Inside the painted embroidery hoop sits our stamped human silhouette wearing wings, but wrapped in wire. She needs to break free and be inspired to create. Behind her is some book page stamping and black threads. She is holding an 'Inspire' charm and has a paint brush base.

That's all for now!
Be sure to check out Tracy's Facebook Group for inspiration and information about great value online workshops.

That's all for today.

Gecko Galz: Once Upon a Springtime

Hello!

A new month brings a new challenge at Gecko Galz.
This month the theme is Once Upon A Springtime.

I decided to go with wild flowers and a bunny for my project this month and made a collage on a small canvas.

I started by applying crackle paste through a stencil. When it was dry, watercolours were washed over the canvas

The bunny is from the Some Bunny collage set. There are some beautiful images on the single collage sheet. I enlarged the image I wanted, printed it and fussy cut around the edges. I added a little more colour to the bunny's earsand the leaves and flowers with coloured pencils. The wildflowers are from the Dreams of Spring mini paper pack. I fussy cut elements from just 2 of the papers (No 5 and 6) and added them to the canvas along with the beautiful Dream sentiment from paper 6.  Some flowers are glued directly onto the canvas, whilst others are popped up. I left the edges of some images loose in some cases and curled them to add to the texture and dimension. I applied natural fibres, using  Fabritac glue, to the bottom of the canvas as a bed for the flowers.

I love the way this turned out. The sides of the canvas were textured as well.
