* Vera Lane Studio: Best Fishes

Hello

Today is my Vera Lane Studio DT day and I have made a birthday card with a recently released digi set called Best Fishes.

I coloured the image with Copic markers and fussy cut her. The background was firstly stamped with a stencil loaded with Distress Oxide inks - this was the second generation print. I added some Distress Emboss Glaze using the #468 Scripted Stars stamp by Bipasha and added some #485 Reverse Stars stamping with Distress Inks. White and black paint splatters were applied and a hand drawn doodle border.

The little girl was grounded on AALL & Create washi tape.

Here is a close up:

That's all for now.

I hope you'll come along and play on Vera Lane. It's such a friendly, fun place to be!

Path of Positivity: Life is Good (Mood Board)

Hello

Welcome to the March Path of Positivity Challenge.

Our challenge is always Anything Goes with an optional theme.

This month's option is to design a project that is inspired by this mood board.

Honours and Prizes include:

  • $6 worth of images from Scribbles Designs, for a person chosen in a random draw based on all qualifying entrants.
  • A badge for the following honours: Top PickVoter's ChoiceMost InspirationalRandom WinnerDT Delight.

I was inspired by the lacy patterns in neutral shades of cream, the darker brown colour swatches and, once more, the floral elements. I chose black card for my base and added some metallic paper and paint.

Here is my project:

I smooshed a small panel of card into Distress Oxides and added various die cut floral and foliage elements, matting this panel onto onto bronze and cream card. The cream card is textured and pearlised. The background is a Sizzix lacy die over some bronze metallic paper. I matted this onto black card and popped it onto a blank card base.

That's all for now.
We would love to see your creations!
Just make sure that your entry is positive, inspirational, motivational or encouraging in some way!
The link up is here: Challenge #110 Path of Positivity.

That's all for today!
Many thanks to Scribbles Designs for sponsoring the challenge.

I'll be back with a another Path of Positivity project in a couple of weeks time.

* Vera Lane Studio: Chosen Sister

Hello

It's my DT day at Vera Lane Studio and today we have a new digi release called

I made a couple of postcards using both images and sentiments in this lovely set:

The images were, as usual, coloured with Copics. The emboss resist backgrounds are watercolored with puddles of Elements dye inks and salt. I added some stamping and some white splatters as well as black ink around the edges. The characters were fussy cut and popped on torn strips washi tape. I like to cut the sentiments into strips too.

All stamps are from AALL & Create.

Gecko Glaz: Springtime and Easter Bunny

Hello

March has arrived and we have a new customer challenge over at the Gecko Galz blog.
The theme this month is Ode to Spring.

As always, we also have the monthly Image Challenge, the monthly Christmas Image Challenge, the monthly Stamp Challenge, an ATC challenge, a Steampunk challenge and a Gothic Challenge on the blog, as well as 4 Facebook challenges. These can be accessed by the tabs at the top of the main blog page.
And, new for this year, we have a quarterly challenge which ends on May 26th.
We hope you can find some time to join in the fun.

The winner of the Customer challenge will get a $25 Gecko Galz Etsy Store voucher and the runner up a $12 voucher. There are plenty of free Gecko Galz images if you don't already own any. Each blog post has a free image to collect and, if you sign up for the monthly newsletter, there is the chance to claim a free collage set each month.  Also if you make any purchase of $2 or more you receive a free image.

First, I have a bright and beautiful spring-time card featuring the lady and elements from the newly released Jaune Collage set.

Isn't she lovely! I fussy cut her and popped her on foam pads onto of the background from the same set. I added some gold mesh fabric behind her and popped a knot-bow at the top. I made a stencilled background using shades of yellow Distress Oxides and spritzed water over to bleach out some inks and add texture. The topper was added to the background with foam tape. Lace trim was adhered to the bottom and a paper, layered flower (again from the Jaune set) adds the finishing touch. The background was matted onto polka dot black card and the whole attached to a card base.

Challenges:

Lets Create and Craft #193 AG 31/03

My second make is an Easter greeting card. I used the gorgeous bunny image from the Animal Whimsies collage set. How wonderful is this image? She looks fabulous in her ornate Elizabethan collar and brocade dress and she is offering a beautifully decorated egg in a basket.

I matted her onto gold card and tore the edges. I made a background by heat embossing and adding PaperArtsy Infusion pigments and spritzing with water. I added some gold pigments in the form of Nuvo 'Sunset Corsett'. The topper was adhered to the background and some sequin waste trim added below the image. As a finishing touch I added a lemon organza bow. Again I matted the background onto polka dot card and popped it onto a card base.

Path of Positivity: Be Happy (Mood Board)

I was inspired by the geometric patterns in neutral shades of grey, the lacy texture and the floral elements. I chose kraft card for accents based upon the taupe colours in the swatch.
Here is my project:

I used a stencil and 3 shades of Distress Oxide to make the background: Pumice Stone, Hickory Smoke and Weathered Wood. In retrospect I could have gone a little darker with the ink blending. I die cut a lacy kraft card border to tuck my florals behind. The florals are from a Sizzix die set. I coloured the card first, then die cut and added splatters with white paint. I kept the sentiment simple, using a Tim Holtz sticker sentiment from the Small Talk pad.

That's all for now.
We would love to see your creations!
Just make sure that your entry is positive, inspirational, motivational or encouraging in some way!
