* Path of Positivity: Go with the Flow

Hello

Welcome to the midway reminder for the August Path of Positivity Challenge.

Our challenge is always Anything Goes with an optional theme.

This month's option is to design a project that is inspired by the sea.

Honours and Prizes include:

  • $6 worth of images from Scribbles Designs, for a person chosen in a random draw based on all qualifying entrants.
  • A badge for the following honours: Top PickVoter's ChoiceMost InspirationalRandom WinnerDT Delight.

I decided to use the whale stamp from the AALL & Create stamp set, 'Sea Life' " for my project:

I stamped the image onto white card and then stamped the whale again to make a paper mask to place over the original whale, so that I could add ink around it. I added extra watercolour to the hexagons and seaweed and finished with plenty white splatters.
I matted the image onto black card, then made a second mat from blended blue oxides. I love the 'Go with the Flow' sentiment.

Here is a close up:

That's all for now.
We would love to see your creations!
Just make sure that your entry is positive, inspirational, motivational or encouraging in some way!

Many thanks to Scribbles Designs for sponsoring the challenge.

I'll be back with a another Path of Positivity project in a couple of weeks time.

AALL & Create: Seahorse

Hello!

Today is my guest DT day at AALL & Create and this time I have made a mixed media mini plaque. I created an underwater scene with the beautiful seahorse from Bipasha BK's stamp set, # 390 Sea Life, as the focal image.

Since the seahorse has a lot of line detail, it appears quite dark when stamped, so I made my background paler that usual in shades od blue and green and sand.

The piece has lots of dimension from the cheesecloth, the art stones and the image being raised on foam tape.

Look at the beautiful markings on the seahorse - this is such a detailed stamped image. Can you see the hidden sentiment, 'your thoughts, feelings, sensations are waves'. The light caused some glare on the Glossy Accents of the seahorse.

Around the tail of the seahorse are the words, 'The beauty and mystery of the ocean.

How I made it:

1. I stamped the seahorse, the bubbles and the sea plants onto mixed media card using Versafine Clair inks, so that they would stay in place when I used watercolour next.

2. The background was given a wash of green and blue watercolours for the sea and brown, orange and ochre for the sand.
3. Texture was added to the sand using the Circled Number stamp and Desert Sand Memento ink.
4. Some more circles from Roundly were stamped in grey.
5. Crackle paste was applied through the Lotza Dotz stencil.

6. Strips of cheesecloth and art stones were adhered with matte medium.
7. The seahorse was stamped and coloured with Inktense watercolour pencils, then clear heat embossed. It was added to the plaque on foam tape.

8.  The edges were inked with Broken China and Chipped Sapphire.
9. The plaque was assembled and extra cloth and stones placed on the base.
10. The sentiment was inked and adhered.

Stamps:
#44
#352 Circled Numbers
#366 Roundly
#390 Sea Life
#443 Scripted Circles
Stencil
#39 Lotza Dotz

Vera Lane Studio: Lost In Space

Hello!

I'm back from my holiday. We had a brilliant time!
I feel rested and relaxed and ready to face the world again :)

Thanks to Mischelle for swapping Vera Lane Studio DT days with me this week.

I'm sharing a card with this week's new release, the fabulous 'Lost In Space'. This is such a fun set of digis. You get a spaceship, three aliens with a library of antennae (useful for all sorts of projects!!) as well as two sentiments.

Here is my make:

I coloured the spaceship with distress inks and a water brush (it's only now that I see the aliens can't see out of the spaceship ... oops!). The aliens are coloured with watercolour pencils. Glitter was applied to the alien's wings and Glossy Accents to their eyes and the spaceship lights.

The background is meant to represent space. It was made by smudging distress ink onto an acrylic block, spritzing with water then stamping onto card. When it was dry, I sprayed some Glimmer Mist and splattered some watered-down, white acrylic paint. I like how it turned out - a bit like a galaxy (if you close one eye and squint a bit!).

The images were fussy cut and attached on foam pads. I used a green and black mat to frame the card.

I hope you'll come along and play on Vera Lane. It's such a friendly, fun place to be!
You'll find us on Facebook in a closed group, which I invite you all to join! You can find us HERE
I guarantee, you'll get a very warm welcome!

CAS: 3 Stamps

The current challenge at Less is More #272 is to use 3 stamps. This could be 3 individual stamps or the same 3 stamps used multiple times.

Here is what I made:

I stamped a flourish from the Elements 1 stamp set by Inkilicious on to ivory card and clear heat embossed it. The embossing tool resisted the ink which I applied with a blending tool. I used Memento Bamboo Leaves and Tim Holtz Peacock Feathers.

The butterflies were stamped and heat embossed with detail black powder.  They were coloured with watercolour pencils and then fussy cut. They were attached to the card with foam pads.

The sentiment is from another Inkilicious stamp set, called Reflections - Thinking of You
