Hello!

Today is the start of a brand new challenge at
If You Give A Crafter A Cookie.
I hope you'll join us.
You can enter your projects until the 22nd February .

Our sponsors are the wonderful Elisabeth Bell and The Cutting Cafe

And here is the inspiration photo:

I was lucky to get a digital stamp to work with - I chose Valentine Angel Blowing Kisses

My lovely image was coloured with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers and pencils, then fussy cut. I adhered it on foam pads onto some Trim Craft design paper and choose coordinating paper for the background. The image was framed with a lovely Papermania Bare Basics wooden frame. Here is a close up:

That's all from me for today. Now it's over to you...

Please pop over to the

Vera Lane Studio: Three Bears

Hello!

First, let me welcome Nancy to my blog - thank you for following!

Today sees the release of a new set of digital stamps at Vera Lane Studio

It's The Three Bears! Look at those faces!

Here is a card I made using the set:

My images are coloured with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers and pencils. Aren't the bears adorable - did you spot Mrs Bear's slippers - they make me smile a lot! The images were fussy cut and adhered to the background. I gave the bears shin (Glossy Accents) noses and also added some Glossy Accents to the centres of the daisies and the blossom on the trees.  The bears were popped on foam pads for dimension. The trees and birds are from the Woodland Props set and the daisies are from the May set. The sun is really a flower from the Backyard Monsters set. The background is a piece of card which has acrylic paint brayered onto it. The sentiment comes with the Three Bears set - it was cut into strips and the edges inked. A hand drawn border finished off my card.

The VLS digital sets are perfect for mixing and matching. The images can be resized and reversed.  I took elements from these sets:

Woodlands Props                       May                     Backyard Monsters

Vera Lane Studio: Rain or Shine on Straight Street

Hello!

First of all, a warm welcome to some new followers - Sonia, Sherry, Melissa and Mary. I'm delighted that you've joined me on my creative journey!

I'm thrilled that these projects were a Winner at Angie's Digital Stamps, a Runner -Up Winner at  World Wide Open Design Team Challenge and DT Favourite at Classic Design Team Challenge.

Today I'm sharing my weekly project for the lovely Vera Lane Studio
Every day there is a new DT project, and you can find the talented Vera Lane DT ladies' blogs in my side bar.
This week I made a desk tidy, a stand-up calendar and a little card using images from four Vera Lane Studio digi sets:

The images I used are from
Rain or Shine         and        Straight Street

I kept my colour palette limited to corals and turquoises for this.
I coloured my images with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers and pencils.
( Markers: FS1, FS3, CR1, CR2, CR3, BT1. BT2, BT3, BT4, GT1, GT2)
I added highlights using white, gold and pink glitter gel pens. I fussy cut the images leaving thin white borders for the main images.

To make the desk tidy:
I applied a thin layer of gesso to the mdf desk tidy base, its top edge and side corners. When this was dry I applied gold paint. (I used a brand called Rust-Oleum Painter's Touch which is a water based, multi-purpose paint for interior and exterior projects. It has a beautiful lustre to it.) Next I cut my patterned paper (I love polka dot paper and this colour is gorgeous) ... it just so happened that each side of the tub is ATC sized, so the paper was cut 2.5 x 3.5 inches (6.5 x 9 cms).
I glued the paper to the tub using Decoupage glue, then glued the images in place using the same glue. The sentiments, which come with the Rain or Shine digi set, were cut into strips and stuck down. For the homes, I printed computer generated sentiments. I drew around the sentiment strips with a Uniball mico pen.The edges of the papers were inked with Tim Holtz Vintage Photo.

The  stand-up calendar was really easy to make:

Cut a piece of heavy card 30 x 10.5 cm. Score and fold at 10.5 cm, 21 cm, 24 cm and 27 cm. Tape the end 3 cm panel to the back of the bottom of the front panel. Then decorate as you wish.
I resized the Straight Street images and put them together before I printed, as my available space was quite restricted. I popped the image on foam pads for dimension. (My calendar cost just 25 pence from Ryman Stationery, but you can see the stitching is already falling apart!)

The card was originally going to be part of the calendar, but then I realised I didn't have any heavy 12 x 12 inch card, so I had to make the calendar smaller. 'Waste not, want not' as the saying goes, I made a card from the images:

The cat is from Cats and Crocks and the word 'Smile' is from Sentiments Set 1. Little peachy coloured gems were stuck onto the tree and white gel pen added for some highlights.

Vera Lane Studio: All Good Things are Wild and Free ATC

Hello!

I'm super excited to be hosting the first Vera Lane Studio ATC Swap of 2017.
I hope you will come along and take part.
We play on Facebook in a private group, which I invite you all to join! You can find us HERE

In order to play you must use a Vera Lane Studio digital stamp. There are some free ones available once you join the group, or you can browse the VLS Etsy shop, in which case you'll be spoiled for choice and won't know which set(s) to buy!

Janet, the owner and artist, has released a new set of digital stamps today called 'Foxes'. They are the start of a new collection called the Woodlands Collection.
Aren't they adorable?

Here is my ATC:

I coloured the images with Spectrum Noir alcohol pens.
Fox fur: OR1, TN4, TN5
 Cheeks: EB1 and Blender
Dress: LG2, CG2
Scarf: DG2, DG3
Boots: TN9, TN4 and Blender
Tree trunk: EB2, CG2, TN9
Tree Top: DG3 and EB2 applied with broad tip in sweeping swirl strokes
Acorns: EB2, DG2, TN4, Blender

The background card has modelling paste applied through a stencil around the edges. It was coloured using Dylusions spray inks in Calypso Teal and Lime Green, but really letting the ink soak in to give a deep colour and reapplying until I got the effect I wanted. Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Iridescent Gold was lightly spritzed over the background to give a lovely shimmer. I also spritzed the Glimmer Mist onto the trees (these were from a set called Straight Street). I added a bit of definition to the background using Tim Holtz distress ink in Vintage Photo and a blending tool.

The trees were glued in place directly onto the card. Mrs Fox was adhered on foam pads to make her stand out a little. The sentiment, which comes with the set, was cut into strips and the edges inked with Vintage Photo. The acorns were glued onto the trees and one onto the ground. Finally, I went around the edge of the ATC with Vintage Photo ink and a blending tool to frame the card.

Here are the 2 sets I used to make this ATC:

Why not come and join the fun in our VLS Facebook group and take part in our ATC swaps?

I'll look forward to seeing you there!

Vera Lane Studio: Foxes' Evening Stroll

Hello!

I'm super excited to be publishing my first DT post for Vera Lane Studio.

Janet, the owner and artist at Vera Lane Studiohas created some delightfully quirky and whimsical characters. They come in sets which can easily be mixed and matched. Today sees the released an adorable set of digital stamps called 'Foxes'. They are the start of a new collection called the Woodlands Collection.

So, onto my project ... I made this card:

I'm thrilled to say that I won Top Pick at Outlawz Twisted Thursday Challenge.

My foxes are taking a romantic evening stroll!

I coloured the images with Spectrum Noir alcohol pens. The robins and snail have Glossy Accents applied to their eyes. Here are the colours I used:

Fox fur: OR1, TN4, TN5      Fox cheek fur: EB1 and Blender
Mr Fox: Jeans: TB1, TB2, TB4    Bodywarmer: EB1, EB2    Shirt: TB2, TB4, IG2         Boots and Collar: IG4, IG6
Mrs Fox: Dress: TB1, TB2, TB4    Scarf: CR7, CR9     Boots: IG4, IG6
Acorns: EB2, CG2, TN4, Blender
Snail: EB1, EB2, TN4, CG2
Robins: EB1, EB2, TN4, CR7

For the background I used super smooth art card from Inkylicious and used ink dusters to apply Tim Holtz Distress Inks in Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade, Crushed Olive and Vintage Photo. The Vintage Photo ink at the base was stippled onto the card to give a different texture. Next, the inked card was dry embossed using an embossing folder called Winter Wonderland which was a free gift with a recent Paper Inspirations magazine. There was also a free set of stamps, so I inked the birch trunks with Vintage Photo and stamped over the embossed areas.

The foxes were fussy cut leaving a thin white border. The smaller critters, acorns and leaves were fussy cut right to the black outlines. The leaves were arranged and glued onto the background, all the other elements were adhered on foam pads.

I matted my embossed card onto black card, them adhered it on foam tape to another layer which has textured gold paper on a black mat. The whole thing was then adhered to a white card base. My finished card measures 8 inches x 6 inches (20 cm x 15 cm).

The small elements are a little fiddly to fussy cut, but my tip would be to cut as close as you can to the black outline, then colour over the line to fill in any white bits, or run a pen along the edge. You can see below that I struggled with the snail's antennae, but when you look at the card as a whole, it's not so noticeable (I hope!).

This last photo shows the matted layers:

Here are the Vera Lane Studio sets I used:

Foxes                        September (leaves)           Lovely Garden (Bird)
