TioT GDT: Make A Wish

 Hello

I am delighted to be GDT today at Try It On Tuesday

The theme at TioT this time is Texture and I made my card with heaps of texture derived from layering die cuts and smooshing inks.

The background is a lacy die-cut (Intricate Lace 664181 Sizzix), smooshed in Antique Linen ink and laid over the top of card which was smooshed, dipped and dabbed in Victorian Velvet ink.

The flowers are layering dies (Brushstroke Flowers #1 665209 Sizzix) which I cut from white card then coloured with inks in various shades of light yellow and pink, I inked the edges of the pieces with Vintage Photo ink and added white paint splatters once they were assembled.

I also added some beautiful pink velvet ribbon trim and placed some sisal fibres beneath the flowers. The flowers are popped on foam tape to lift them from the card and only the centre is adhered so that I could curl and shape the petals to give a more natural look.

Here are some of the products I used:

Thank you to Jo at TioT for inviting me to be GDT.

That's all for now.

Thanks for stopping by today!
xoxo

* Path of Positivity: Let's Face the Music

 Hello!

Today is the start of a new Path of Positivity challenge.
The challenge lasts for the month of March.

This month the theme is Anything Goes with the optional twist of
Music is Good for the Soul.

Prizes this month include:
  • Store Voucher from Lunagirl Images, our guest sponsor for this month, for a person chosen in a random draw based on all qualifying entrants.
  • ONE image (value of $5 or less) from Scribbles Designs, for the post or project that the team deems most inspiring of the bunch based on all qualifying entrants.
  • One digital image from Creative Bug Digital SnapShots for each person chosen as a DT Delight.

Our optional theme this month is Music is Good for the Soul.
So, this month we want you to create a project INSPIRED BY MUSIC (song title, lyrics, instrument, musical manuscript etc). Music is good for the soul. It is one of the ways to build bridges and bring people together. It influences us in different ways - think about how patriotic songs make you feel, then love songs, Christmas music, classical music, country music, pop music ....

Please remember in order to be eligible for the prizes your project must be positive, inspirational, motivational or encouraging in some way.

I have always been influenced by music, right from my teenage crushes on David Cassidy and Donny Osmond! I met my husband and he is from a musical family, in fact he and his brother were singer/guitarists at the time, earning a living from performing whilst going through college. My husband is still very musically minded - he composes his own tunes and writes lyrics. We are surrounded by guitars - acoustic, electric, rhythm, bass, Hawaiian, 12 string, a banjo and a keyboard, not to mention all the percussion instruments that family and friends can play to join in. Then there are the concerts we love to go to.

My card today is more to do with how music makes me feel. I am moved emotionally by music - it can make me cry if it is classical or opera, or it can brighten my mood in any situation. I just can't help toe taping and moving when I listen to uplifting music and often will get up and dance around the room.

Here is my card using Luna Girls beautiful Dance collage sheet:

I chose an image of the 1883 Renoir painting called Dance at Bougival. It depicts a young couple dancing to music at an open air cafe in the countryside outside of Paris. You can see the cafe-goers in the background. I love the loose style of the Impressionists paintings.

The background was made by blending Oxide inks onto a piece of white card. I then stamped Sheet Music (KaiserCraft) and heat set with Hickory Smoke embossing glaze. Next I stamped the flowers (Vines and Roses by Stampers Anonymous) and heat embossed in white - I thought this would make a country style background fitting for the image.

The flowers and foliage were die cut and inked, in colours to compliment the image, and added with some lace to the bottom of the card. I distressed the edge of the background, the image and the kraft card mats and popped all onto a blank 5 x 7 inch white card. The sentiment was typed and printed, then cut into strips and inked.

Many thanks to Lunagirl Images this month's guest sponsor,

and to Scribbles Designs as the ongoing sponsor of the challenge

We would love to see your creations!
Just make sure that your entry is positive, inspirational, motivational or encouraging in some way!
