* Vera Lane Studio: Ride the Wave

Hello

Today is my Vera Lane Studio DT day.
We have a new digi set released today called Ride the Wave.

Here is my project:

Isn't this little whale girl the sweetest. She comes already riding the whale and with a wave digi, a splash digi and two sentiments.
I used Copics to colour the images and made the background by heat embossing an AALL & Create stamp and applying various Brushos, then spraying with water. I love the effect the Brushos give. I inked around the edges of the background with black ink, matted onto black card and popped it onto a white card blank.

That's all for now.

I hope you'll come along and play on Vera Lane. It's such a friendly, fun place to be!

Here's all the info you need:

* Vera Lane Studio: Thinking of You

Hello

Today is my Vera Lane Studio DT day.
I chose to use an old digi set called Thinking of You.

Here is my project:

I decided to use a circular format this time. I made a monoprint using my gelli plate with acrylic paints and an AALL & Create stencil designed by Janet. I added some 'Background Noise' stamping and lots of white paint splatters. The images were coloured with Copics and fussy cut. I grounded the girl and flowers with Janet's 'Flower Dance' washi tape and added a sticker sentiment.

That's all for now.

I hope you'll come along and play on Vera Lane. It's such a friendly, fun place to be!

Gecko Galz: Spun Sugar

Hello

The May customer challenge over at the Gecko Galz blog is Spun Sugar.

As always, we also have the monthly Image Challenge, the monthly Christmas Image Challenge, the monthly Stamp Challenge, an ATC challenge, a Steampunk challenge and a Gothic Challenge on the blog, as well as 4 Facebook challenges. These can be accessed by the tabs at the top of the main blog page.
And, new for this year, we have a quarterly challenge. This time the challenge is to make an altered canvas.
We hope you can find some time to join in the fun.

The winner of the Customer challenge will get a $25 Gecko Galz Etsy Store voucher and the runner up a $12 voucher. There are plenty of free Gecko Galz images if you don't already own any. Each blog post has a free image to collect and, if you sign up for the monthly newsletter, there is the chance to claim a free collage set each month.  Also if you make any purchase of $2 or more you receive a free image.

I made a set of four snarky, retro birthday cards:

I used re-sized Passion Fruit ATCs for the background and fussy cut some of the retro girls from the Retro Home Front Kit . I teamed them with snarky sentiments that were typed and cut into strips. I added a circular die cut sentiment from the Happy Birthday to You sentiment stamp set.
I decided to make a gift of these cards, so I popped the cards and envelopes into a cellophane bag and tied a gingham ribbon around the top

I'd like to play along in the following challenges:

I prefer to make Feminine projects as most of my supplies are for girls :)

I made a birthday card:

I used one of the images  (ht24) from the High Tea Kit. I fussy cut it and made a smooshed Distress Oxide ink background. I added some stamping around the edges and grounded the image with hand drawn grass. I made a banner sentiment using one of the Happy Birthday to You sentiments, I inked around the edges of the sentiment and added it along the bottom edge.

I'd like to play along in the following challenges:

We Love 2 Create #4 AG MM 27/05
Cardz4galz #199 Backgrounds 31/05
A Place to Start May AG 02/06

I made a couple of tags:

I die cut the tags using a Sizzix die. I used Oxide inks and a floral background stamp to make the background then lightly blended ink all over. I added the gold trim and the fussy cut images and finished off with sentiments and organza bows.
The little girl image is from the Retro Girls collage sheet and the retro woman is from Kitchy Cool ATC set. The banner flags and sentiment on the yellow tag are from the Happy Birthday to You sentiment stamp set.

Finally I made an ATC:

I love this image from the Cute Clips collage set. The background is brayered PaperArtsy Fresco Finish Chalk Paints. I added some black stamping around the edges and tore pieces of washi tape for the image to sit upon. The Live, Love, Bake is a Gecko Galz sentiment.

That's all for now!
I hope you'll join our Spun Sugar challenge where the winner will get a $25 shopping spree at the Gecko Galz shop.

Path of Positivity: Nature

Hello

Welcome to the midway reminder for the May Path of Positivity Challenge.

Our challenge is always Anything Goes with an optional theme.

This month's option is to design a project that is inspired by nature.

Honours and Prizes include:

  • $6 worth of images from Scribbles Designs, for a person chosen in a random draw based on all qualifying entrants.
  • A badge for the following honours: Top PickVoter's ChoiceMost InspirationalRandom WinnerDT Delight.
I made a country side scene using Card-io stamps:

I am still learning to use the tiny stamps in the Card-io stamp sets. I tried to make a peaceful countryside scene. I think I overdid the grasses and flowers and I definitely got the perspective of the front tree and the fence wrong, but all in all I quite like what I made. There's plenty room for improvement - I just need to find time to practice :)
The stamping  and inking is directly on the card base. The square was masked off and the frame was dry embossed from the back.

That's all for now.
We would love to see your creations!
Just make sure that your entry is positive, inspirational, motivational or encouraging in some way!
The link up is here: Challenge #112 Path of Positivity.

That's all for today!
Many thanks to Scribbles Designs for sponsoring the challenge.

I'll be back with a another Path of Positivity project in a couple of weeks time.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Vera Lane Studio: Smoosh Fish

Hello

Today is my Vera Lane Studio DT day.
Janet, has a new digi set release today called 'Smoosh Fish'. There are 5 different fish and 2 party hats - they are so much fun.

I made a set of ATCs:

I coloured the fish with Copic markers and fussy cut them. I gave them Glossy Accent eyes. I also coloured the rocks and seaweed from Ocean Floor. The background was created with PaperArtsy Infusions and Brushos. I applied the colours separately and allowed each to dry a little before applying the next as these photographs show:

As a final touch, I added some gold Glimmer Mist and a little gold Nuvo Powder to add some sparkle.
Once dry, some white splatters were applied and the elements adhered. I also added some rock stones for texture. I finished each ATC with a doodle border and added a Tim Holtz Small Talk sticker..

Here are the individual ATCs:

 Hello

Today is my Vera Lane Studio DT day.
I chose to use a recently released digi set called Be a Sunflower.

Here is my project:

Isn't she beautiful!
This tall legged girl comes in a set with two sunflowers, a set of rocks and two sentiments. I added the grass from the Maui set and a cloud (Beach Love) and a bird (Lovely Garden). I used Copic markers to colour the digi stamps, then fussy cut them.
The background is card smooshed into various yellow oxide inks. I then stamped and heat embossed using an AALL & Create stamp set from Bipasha. White splatters were added and black ink applied around the edges. The sentiment was cut into strips and adhered with a doodle border.

That's all for now.
