Vera lane Studio: Winter Magic

 Hello

It's Monday, it's Christmas Day and it's my Vera Lane Studio DT day.

A short while ago a digi set called Waddle On was released. It features two cute penguins with separate hats (a choice of two) and three sentiments.

Here is what I made:

Isn't this the sweetest penguin!

My penguin CAS card has a simple stencilled background using Broken China Distress Oxide through an AALL & Create stencil. I added white paint splatters and popped the fussy cut, Copic coloured penguin on top. I added the fussy cut  Winter Magic sentiment.

That's all for now.

I hope you'll come along and play on Vera Lane. It's such a friendly, fun place to be!

Path of Positivity: Mice Choir

Hello

Welcome to the midway December Path of Positivity Challenge.

Our challenge is always Anything Goes with an optional theme.

This month's option is to design a project that is inspired by MUSIC.

Honours and Prizes include:

  • $6 worth of images from Scribbles Designs, for a person chosen in a random draw based on all qualifying entrants.
  • A badge for the following honours: Top PickVoter's ChoiceMost InspirationalRandom WinnerDT Delight.

Here is my midway DT project.

I made a quick and easy, acetate front easel fold card using a sweet image of a mouse choir :) The panel of acetate was strengthened with a strip of card at it's base. It was attached on the inside of the card with double sided sticky tape and I added patterned paper over it to conceal the tape. I used snowflake patterned paper on the front of the card and a winter sky design for the inside. The papers are from the Crafters Companion 'Glittering Snowflakes' paper pack.  The image is matted onto white card and adhered above the acetate panel.

How cute is this choir!

That's all for now.
We would love to see your creations!
Just make sure that your entry is positive, inspirational, motivational or encouraging in some way!

Many thanks to Scribbles Designs for sponsoring the challenge.

I'll be back with a another Path of Positivity project in a couple of weeks time.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Vera Lane Studio: 'Tis the Ski-son

 Hello

It's Monday and my Vera Lane Studio DT day.

A short while ago a digi set called Ski-son was released. I didn't realise at the time that Ski-son means ski season. This adorable set has a girl and a boy character all togged out in ski wear along with a winter sun and two sentiments.

Here is what I made:

My journal page has a smooshed Oxide ink background with a die cut snow bank. Lots of white paint splatters and white embossing, with an AALL & Create splatter stamp, replicate the snow along with some holographic glitter. I added a little stamping around the edges in grey ink.
The cute, little character was coloured with Copic markers.

That's all for now.

I hope you'll come along and play on Vera Lane. It's such a friendly, fun place to be!

Here is what I made for inspiration on the Winter Elegance theme.
First is my December tag. It's a shaker tag.

I played around with making a simple shaker as usually I get glue everywhere and none of the shaker pieces actually shake :) This was made with a self seal cellophane bag. I had to fold it carefully and seal it at the back, but it works fine and the sequins do move!
The background paper is from the Christmas Traditions ATC set. The image is from the Holly and Ivy collage set. I added some red glitter tape along the bottom and placed some gold trim on top. The pocket has a red foil, die cut frame and some tiny die cut pine leaves and a small flower at the top. Red velvet ribbon was threaded through the tag and a small knot bow was added to the top of the shaker frame.

Next, I have a couple of winter nature cards:

The beautiful images are from Nature's Winter and The Frosty Garden, two of my favourite winter collage sets.
The background paper is from the Christmas Traditions ATC images which I enlarged.

I made a hanging tree decoration using a die cut circle of card as the base:

I die cut some old book pages using a doily die and used Vintage Photo ink to age it a little more. I added some music manuscript and some die cut snowflakes made from green glitter card. Some gold trim was placed below the lovely fussy cut image which from the Christmas Icons collage set - I popped this on foam tape for dimension. I also added some gold foliage and a tiny red flower. Red velvet trim will allow this to be hung from the tree.

I made a pair of Christmas greeting cards in non-traditional colours:

My cards use images from the beautiful Winter Magic collage set. I teamed them with linen card and added heat embossing using white glitter powders around the edges. Some 3D die cut snowflakes are tucked beneath the image mat on the blue card, and snowflake and flower die cuts with gems add a little sparkle. along with the sentiment, die cut from white glitter card.

Here is my DT project.

I made my first swing fold card.

I followed a video tutorial from Sam Calcott to make this fancy fold card (you can view it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BlSMhYNM4xE&t=5s). I was surprised by how easy it was. I used patterned paper (from the Crafters Companion 'Glittering Snowflakes' paper packfor the frame on the front and the two panels inside. I used a square stitched die for the aperture and frame. I love the cute carolling kitty image.

That's all for now.

Vera Lane Studio: Christmas Whiskers

Hello

It's Monday and my Vera Lane Studio DT day.

Today there is a new digi set release called Christmas Whiskers and it features three festive kitty cats, a kitty bed and a sentiment.

Here is my project:

I made a trio of trinchies and I teamed the Christmas Whiskers with the Doodle Tree Lot.
I used Copic markers for colouring and Distress Oxide in Cracked Pistachio for the background. I smooshed white card into puddles of ink and when dry I added white spatters and some iridescent gold Glimmer Mist. I also added some tone on tone stamping, a little white embossing and some black star stamping around the edges. All stamps used are from AALL & Create. I used washi tape to ground my images and chose a selection of sentiments.

That's all for now.

I hope you'll come along and play on Vera Lane. It's such a friendly, fun place to be!

Conjurer of Dreams: It's Christmas

Hello

Today I'm sharing some projects I made using Conjurer of Dreams images. I hope you'll pop over to the store and take a look at the Digital Art on sale for collage, scrapbooks, journals, cards and more.

The theme this month is Rustic Christmas.
Here is what I made:

A set of Festive Highland Cow greetings cards:

I used the lovely Festive Highland Cow set, choosing two of the four images. I paired them with some plaid digital paper I had in my stash and matted on kraft card for a more rustic finish. I made some die cut flowers and foliage from kraft card and inked the edges to leave some of the kraft colour showing. I added a piece deep green velvet trim and a knot bow before popping onto white card bases.

***
A pair of wooden tree baubles:

Several coats of mica sprays were used to colour the wooden shape and chunky white embossing powder was used for falling snow. I fussy cut two rather handsome Santas from the Vintage Santa set and adhered them to the base. Next I rolled the bauble edge along a Versamark ink pad and added white glitter embossing powder. I dyed the jute twine with the same mica spray and threaded it through the top of the bauble.

***
Some Christmas cards:

I love the doorways from the Door Greenery set. I digitally added critters in front of the doors. Above we have one of the Steampunk Wild Animals and some Victorian Mice. I also digitally added a string of pinecones to the first door wreath and a lantern to the mice's doorway. I printed the images and matted them on card coloured with Iced Spruce Oxide ink. I matted them onto card coloured by stamping with a stencil coated in Oxides (in Pumice, Weathered Wood and Iced Spruce) and spritzed with iridescent gold Glamour Mist.

In these doorways (again from the Door Greenery set) I have a Yorkie which was a freebie on the Conjurer of Dreams Facebook page - I also digitally added some snowflakes. The little Christmas Mice have a visiting bird and a circular door wreath. Again they are matted onto Iced Spruce coloured card and have the stencil stamped background.

And finally, here are my digital scrapbook projects:

Using the free Yorkie pup and Rustic Christmas

Using Wreath and free Christmas Mouse

That's all for now.
