Path of Positivity: Be Happy (Mood Board)

Hello

Welcome to the March Path of Positivity Challenge.

Our challenge is always Anything Goes with an optional theme.

This month's option is to design a project that is inspired by this mood board.

Honours and Prizes include:

  • $6 worth of images from Scribbles Designs, for a person chosen in a random draw based on all qualifying entrants.
  • A badge for the following honours: Top PickVoter's ChoiceMost InspirationalRandom WinnerDT Delight.

I was inspired by the geometric patterns in neutral shades of grey, the lacy texture and the floral elements. I chose kraft card for accents based upon the taupe colours in the swatch.
Here is my project:

I used a stencil and 3 shades of Distress Oxide to make the background: Pumice Stone, Hickory Smoke and Weathered Wood. In retrospect I could have gone a little darker with the ink blending. I die cut a lacy kraft card border to tuck my florals behind. The florals are from a Sizzix die set. I coloured the card first, then die cut and added splatters with white paint. I kept the sentiment simple, using a Tim Holtz sticker sentiment from the Small Talk pad.

That's all for now.
We would love to see your creations!
Just make sure that your entry is positive, inspirational, motivational or encouraging in some way!
The link up is here: Challenge #110 Path of Positivity.

That's all for today!
Many thanks to Scribbles Designs for sponsoring the challenge.

I'll be back with a another Path of Positivity project in a couple of weeks time.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Path of Positivity: Fashions Fade, Style is Eternal

Hello

Welcome to the February Path of Positivity Challenge.

Our challenge is always Anything Goes with an optional theme.

This month's option is to design a project that is inspired by fashion.

Honours and Prizes include:
  • $6 worth of images from Scribbles Designs, for a person chosen in a random draw based on all qualifying entrants.
  • A badge for the following honours: Top PickVoter's ChoiceMost InspirationalRandom WinnerDT Delight.
This was a difficult theme for me.
In the end, after a lot of too-ing and fro-ing, I settled for a Julie Nutting doll stamp called Frida to be my focal point:

I stamped Frida onto white card and stamped her again onto patterned paper so that I could paper piece her dress. I coloured the rest of the doll with Copic markers. I added some shadows to her dress and fussy cut her.
I made two backgrounds using Distress Oxide inks through stencils. I added lots of stamping in various shades of greens and some white splatters. I added some faux stitching to the smaller background and a doodled border around the large background. The sentiment was typed and cut into a strip. I made a fabric bow and added a button as my embellishment.

That's all for now.
We would love to see your creations!
Just make sure that your entry is positive, inspirational, motivational or encouraging in some way!

Inkylicious Stamps, a small family company in the north of England, is one of the many sponsors of the 2022 Cat Lovers Hop., and I am delighted to be guest designing for Janis at the Hop with this card:

For my card I used  3 sets of Inkylicious stamps:

The Cats on a Branch were stamped and heat embossed with clear powder and the background was coloured with Brusho pigments by sprinkling the powders onto card and lightly spritzing with water.

The moon mask was held in place and Faded Jeans Distress Oxide ink was blended around it, leaving the moon itself a paler colour.  The moon stamp was stamped using Antique Linen Oxide Ink. Chalk pastel pencils added some highlight to the moon and a silver sparkle gel pen adds a little shimmer around the edge of the moon.

The Bare Branches were added around the edges of the background and the edges were inked in black archival ink.

The sentiment is a sticker.

Many thanks to Inkylicious for sponsoring the Cat Lovers Hop.

Thank you, Deby!

* Gecko Galz: Musical Muses and Sweet Valentines

Hello

It's February, the month of Love, and at Gecko Galz our new customer challenge is
Silly Love Songs.
We also have the monthly Image Challenge and the monthly Christmas Image Challenge, as well as 4 Facebook challenges.
We hope you can find some time to join in the fun.

The winner of the Customer challenge will get a $25 Gecko Galz Etsy Store voucher and the runner up a $12 voucher. There are plenty of free Gecko Galz images if you don't already own any. Each blog post has a free image to collect and, if you sign up for the monthly newsletter, there is the chance to claim a free collage set each month.  Also if you make any purchase of $2 or more you receive a free image.

For my DT day, I made a card, a journal page and some ATCs.

I made a sweet, mixed media Valentine card using an image from the Lovely Little Valentine collage set. I fussy cut the image and inked around the edges in black ink. The background was made with PaperArtsy Infusions and Brushos. I added some stamping and some paint splatters and heat embossed gold leaves around the top and side edges. Some torn book text acts as grounding for the cute couple who were popped on foam tape for dimension. I die cut the letters to make the sentiment - once in gold and again in black to add a drop shadow.

Lovely Little Valentines

Next, I made an A6 journal page:

I stamped and heat embossed the rose background, then blended Distress Oxides over the top and added some music note stamping.
The images were fussy cut from two collage sheets, Musical Muses and Lovely Vignettes. I added a gold paper border die and chose a snarky sentiment sticker as my sentiment.

Then I made a couple of ATCs:

I fussy cut the images from Musical Muses and added them to ATCs made from manuscript paper. I added grit paste through a mandala stencil and coloured with Hickory Smoke and touches of Brushos. Small Talk sticker sentiments were added and the ATCs were mounted onto black card.

My projects for the Silly Love Songs customer challenge inspiration are below and you can read about them here:

and here

That's all for now!
I hope you'll join our Silly Love Songs Challenge where the winner will get a $25 shopping spree at the Gecko Galz shop.

The only rule is that you must use at least one Gecko Galz product (this can be one of the freebies or, of course, you can buy at the Etsy store!) Also if you sign up for the Gecko Galz newsletter, you'll be able to claim a free collage sheet each month and get first claim on the monthly $1 deals!

Please pop over to the Gecko Galz blog to see the fabulous designs by the very talented DT.

We also have a friendly Facebook Group where there are 4 monthly challenges, each with a collage sheet prize.

* Crafts Galore Encore: Sending Love

Hello

Today sees that start of a new challenge at Crafts Galore EncoreThe theme is always 'Anything Goes' and you can enter 3 different projects The challenge runs all month until mid day (BST) 30th October.

Hetty Clare is kindly sponsoring this month's challenge.

Here is a card I made with Sending Love:

I coloured the image with Copic markers and die cut it. I added a scalloped die cut mat cut from design paper and inked around the edges. The background was made with a stencil which I inked and spritzed with water. I then ran it through my die cutting machine to emboss the pattern.

The sentiment is die cut from design card and has a white underlay.

My second Hetty Clare card for Crafts Galore Encore is here.

Many thanks to Helen at Hetty Clare for sponsoring the challenge.

Please pop over to Crafts Galore Encore to see the DT's wonderful designs.

* Neon

 Hello,

I was intrigued by the current challenge at Lost Coast Designs

It has a Neon theme.

Now neon wouldn't normally be on my desk, but I had a rummage through my many drawers and I found some neon paints.  They are, to be honest, decades old so it was no surprise when it came out of the tube with a texture like cottage cheese. Unperturbed, I mashed it with a pallet knife and brayered the heck out of it until it resembled something close to smooth.

Here is my project. It's a panel that I stuck into a small art journal. I used a Lost Coast Designs silhouette stamp called Grunge Flower Profile:

I brayered the orange neon paint as well as I could to provide the base of the background. I then used a PaperArtsy stencil and sponged on some pink neon paint, fading it out towards the bottom right corner where my image would be. I added some neon pink splatters and some black ones too. The image was stamped onto the background, then again onto white card which I fussy cut and adhered.

The sentiment is a snarky sticker from a Tim Holtz sentiment sticker pad. I added a black mat to help the neon pop a little more.

Thanks for stopping by today.

* Path of Positivity: Great Ideas

 Hello

Today is the midway point in the June  Path of Positivity challenge.
The challenge lasts for the whole month of June.

This month the theme is Anything Goes with the optional twist of
Try Something New.

Prizes this month include:

  • THREE digital images from Pattie's Creationsour guest sponsor for this month, for a person chosen in a random draw based on all qualifying entrants.
  • ONE image (value of $5 or less) from Scribbles Designs, for the post or project that the team deems most inspiring of the bunch based on all qualifying entrants.
  • One digital image from Creative Bug Digital SnapShots for each person chosen as a DT Delight.

Our optional theme this month is
Try Something New
This could be trying a new craft technique, or designing a journal or scrapbook page. Or, like me, it could be a new life experience. Reach out beyond your comfort zone - feel proud and rejuvenated.

There are so many ways you can interpret the optional theme this month. We are waiting to see your take on the theme.

Please remember ...
... in order to be eligible for the prizes your project must be positive, inspirational, motivational or encouraging in some way.

Here is my project using Scribbles Design's Carla Diet Queen Diva.

Yes, you guessed it - my latest 'try something new' is trying to shed a few of those lockdown pounds. Carla Diet Queen Diva really appeals to my sense of humour; to be honest this is the only way I'm going to get the scales to register less than the previous week! The snarky sentiment also makes me smile :)

I coloured Carla with Copics and added some Polychromo pencil shading. She was fussy cut and popped onto an ink blended, stencilled background. I added some darker ink to act as grounding and stamped around the edges in black for a border. I added some water splatters to bleach out a little colour from the stencilling and then added some white paint splatters.

Many thanks to Pattie's Creations, this month's guest sponsor,

and to Scribbles Designs as the ongoing sponsor of the challenge

We would love to see your creations!
Just make sure that your entry is positive, inspirational, motivational or encouraging in some way!
