* Vera Lane Studio: Besties

Hello!

This is my second  Vera Lane Studio DT project today. You can find the first one here.

This time I have a card using one of the older digi sets called Besties:

As usual, I coloured my girls with Copic markers and gave them some white Posca pen highlights. I fussy cut them and ran a black Copic marker around the cut edges to mask any cutting imperfections.
I  applied acrylic paints, in green and blue, with a brayer onto the background, then added some modelling paste through an Art by Marleen stencil. I spritzed some Dylusions ink sprays to bring out the texture of the modelling paste. Stamping was added around the background edges, and the outer edged inked with Ranger Jet Black Archival ink.
The girls were grounded with some black and white strips from the Circle and Stem set. I made two flowers using elements from the Pretty Little Houses collage set and used a sun from the Sunshine Collage sheet.

Vera Lane Studio: February's Moon

Hello Friends!

Today I'm sharing my weekly DT post for Vera Lane Studio

Our monthly theme for August is 'Add Some Sparkle', so I did just that using the beautiful February's Moon digital set.

I made the background with Dylusion Spray inks on mixed media card, then when dry, spritzed water through a stencil to create the ghost stamp effect. I also added inky grey dots through a stencil. The beautiful February's Moon fairy was coloured with Copics and fussy cut. She has glittered eyelashes and wings and the hearts are also glittered. The sentiment is from The Traveller set. I added a hand drawn border to finish it off.

Here are links to the sets I used:

Vera Lane Studio: All Good Things are Wild and Free ATC

Hello!

I'm super excited to be hosting the first Vera Lane Studio ATC Swap of 2017.
I hope you will come along and take part.
We play on Facebook in a private group, which I invite you all to join! You can find us HERE

In order to play you must use a Vera Lane Studio digital stamp. There are some free ones available once you join the group, or you can browse the VLS Etsy shop, in which case you'll be spoiled for choice and won't know which set(s) to buy!

Janet, the owner and artist, has released a new set of digital stamps today called 'Foxes'. They are the start of a new collection called the Woodlands Collection.
Aren't they adorable?

Here is my ATC:

I coloured the images with Spectrum Noir alcohol pens.
Fox fur: OR1, TN4, TN5
 Cheeks: EB1 and Blender
Dress: LG2, CG2
Scarf: DG2, DG3
Boots: TN9, TN4 and Blender
Tree trunk: EB2, CG2, TN9
Tree Top: DG3 and EB2 applied with broad tip in sweeping swirl strokes
Acorns: EB2, DG2, TN4, Blender

The background card has modelling paste applied through a stencil around the edges. It was coloured using Dylusions spray inks in Calypso Teal and Lime Green, but really letting the ink soak in to give a deep colour and reapplying until I got the effect I wanted. Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Iridescent Gold was lightly spritzed over the background to give a lovely shimmer. I also spritzed the Glimmer Mist onto the trees (these were from a set called Straight Street). I added a bit of definition to the background using Tim Holtz distress ink in Vintage Photo and a blending tool.

The trees were glued in place directly onto the card. Mrs Fox was adhered on foam pads to make her stand out a little. The sentiment, which comes with the set, was cut into strips and the edges inked with Vintage Photo. The acorns were glued onto the trees and one onto the ground. Finally, I went around the edge of the ATC with Vintage Photo ink and a blending tool to frame the card.

Here are the 2 sets I used to make this ATC:

Why not come and join the fun in our VLS Facebook group and take part in our ATC swaps?

I'll look forward to seeing you there!

Thanks for stopping by today.
I'd love it if you became a 'follower'!

ATC: Feathers

Hello!

Welcome to Terri, Babs and Wendy - I'm thrilled you could join me!

This week, the ATC challenge at Wicked Wednesday is Fins, Feathers or Fur.

I went with feathers, as I remembered I had a cute little bird by Miss Rach, who is the sponsor.

I bought this bird because it was pretty to look at - I had no idea how gorgeous it is in real life! It's an Australian Bee Eater and I had to Google it to see how I should colour it. WOW!!! I didn't expect that.

{Moral of this little tale: buy from Miss Rach and get educated :-) teehee! }

Anyhow...here is my ATC:

The marbled background was printed using shaving cream and Dylusions ink in Fresh Lime and Calypso Teal. The edges of the card were then inked in black.
The bird was coloured with alcohol markers, then fussy cut leaving a thin white border. This was matted onto black card and fussy cut again. The image was added to the ATC on foam pads. Glitter was applied to the little heart and 2 craft feathers were stuck to the bottom corner along with a lime green bow. Such a 'tweet' little bee eater!

Thanks for stopping by today!

There's still time to add yourself to the draw for my blog candy.

CAS: Splatters

Hello

Today I'm sharing my CAS Splatters card:

I used watercolour paper which I taped to my work surface and sprayed with water. I dripped Dylusions ink (Bubblegum Pink and Calypso Teal) in a controlled way to create pockets of colour. I left the paper to dry naturally. When it was completely dry, I stamped the Papermania 'Hello' and heat embossed it in Seafoam White. I love how the word has texture.

Finally, I trimmed the watercolour paper and mounted it onto an ivory card base.

Rubber Dance March: Colour Challenge

March's colour challenge at Rubber Dance is:

This is such a gorgeous colour combination!
Here is a card I made:

Background: First, white card stock was heat embossed with clear powder using a cracked tile stamp and a script stamp, both from Inkilicious Essentials 1 set. Once dry, Tim Holtz distress inks in Crushed Olive and Spiced Marmalade were applied with a blending tool. To add extra depth of colour, the card was spritzed with Dylusions ink in Fresh Lime and Pure Sunshine.

Image: The two dandelion seed heads called 'Make a Wish' from Marion Emberson Designs were stamped and heat embossed with Snowflake Tinsel embossing powder.
Lines of diamond shapes were stamped around the edges using Memento Bamboo Leaves  and Inkilicious stamps.

Banner: Sentiment was heat embossed in white Sea Foam powder and inked with distress inks and Dylusions inks. The banner was attached on foam pads.

All edges were inked with jet black Ranger ink. The finished piece was mounted on black card, then mounted onto the card base.

Thanks for stopping by and looking!

ATC: Girly

The theme this week (#199) at Wicked Wednesday is Girly.

I'm also entering this into Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge where the theme is 'Make your own Background"

Background: white card with script stamped in clear embossing ink. When dry, Dylusions ink in Bubblegum Pink and Pure Sunshine were sprayed and wiped over with a baby wipe. Card edged in Jet Black Ranger Archival ink.

Image: I used a Sherri Baldy 'My Besties' digi stamp and coloured her with Spectrum Noir markers.T he image was fussy cut and mounted on pop dots.

Washi tape was applied to the bottom of the card for the girl to stand upon. Crystal gems were added to one side edge and the words 'sweet girl' from Tim Holtz's ChitChat stickers finished it off.

Thanks for looking!
