Gecko Galz: Winter Elegance

 

Hello

December is here and we have a new customer challenge over at the Gecko Galz blog.  

The theme this month is Winter Elegance..

As always, we also have the monthly card challeng.e, the monthly Christmas Image Challenge, the monthly Stamp Challenge, an ATC challenge, a Steampunk challenge and a Gothic Challenge on the blog, as well as 4 Facebook challenges. These can be accessed by the tabs at the top of the main blog page. We also have the quarterly challenge where this time we're asking you to make an altered shrine..

The winner of the Customer challenge will get a $25 Gecko Galz Etsy Store voucher and the runner up a $12 voucher. There are plenty of free Gecko Galz images if you don't already own any. Each blog post has a free image to collect and, if you sign up for the monthly newsletter, there is the chance to claim a free collage set each month.  Also if you make any purchase of $2 or more you receive a free image.

Here is what I made for inspiration on the Winter Elegance theme:

My card uses an image from the beautiful Winter Fantasy collage set. I added some crystal glitter and matted it onto glitter card, then gave it a dreamy background using paper from the Once Upon a Dream ATC set (digitally resized). I made a pink Distress Oxide background to frame the piece and popped it onto a white card base. I added a cluster of foliage and flowers with sparkly centres and a simple die cut greeting that just says, 'joy'.

* Vera Lane Studio: Unique Succulents

 Hello

Today at Vera Lane Studio we have a new digi set release. It is Unique Succulents and has a sweet boy in his truck delivering succulents plus three sentiments.

I made a journal page:

Isn't he the sweetest boy! 

I used Copics and Polychromos to colour the truck and made a stencilled background using PaperArtsy Golden Sands Infusion pigments. I added stamping using AALL & Create stamps and added some white Posca pen splatters.. I cut a strip of background card and added it on top of torn washi tape for the grounding.

The sentiment was cut into strips, adhered and outlined with a fine liner.

* Crafts Galore Encore: Fae 3

Hello!

We have a new challenge for February at the Crafts Galore Encore Challenge Blog. The theme is always Anything Goes.

Our sponsor for February is Morgan's Art World who are generously offering 3 digi stamps to the challenge winner.

I was given a digi stamp to work with and I chose the beautiful Fae 3. Here is my card:

Fae is coloured with Copics and die cut with a stitched rectangle die. I added some white Posca pen highlights to the flower centres. I mounted the image onto pink card and set aside whilst I made the background.

The background is made from white card, swiped over with a mini Distress ink pad in Spun Sugar. I then lightly added some Memento Rose Bud ink through a stencil to created a 'faded' pattern.  I inked the edges of the background card, first with Rose Bud and then with Ranger Black ink.

I found some pretty laced and attached it to the card and topped it with some pink ribbon. The background was then matted onto pink card which was edged lightly with black ink.

The image and mat were attached on foam pads at a slight angle and I added a die cut butterfly border to the top right hand side. I made some die cut paper flowers and inked the edges of the petals. Once shaped and assembled I added some golden Prills to the centres, attached them to the card and finished them off with some die cut leaves.

The sentiment was die cut three times from pink card and glued together for some dimension. Finally 3 pearls were placed in the top left corner.

November brings a new challenge at Crafts Galore Encore. The theme is always 'Anything Goes' and we would love for you to join in!

I was lucky to get a Beccy's Place digi to work with and I chose the llama from the South of the Border set. Here is my card:

I coloured the llamas with Copic markers and fussy cut them. I made a stencilled background with Distress Oxides and a blending tool and inked the edges in black. I die cut a scalloped circle and applied Distress Ink to the edges and some 'mountains' in the background. The llamas were popped on foam pads.

* Crafts Galore Encore: Violets

Hello!

August brings a host of new monthly challenges and at Crafts Galore Encore this month we have another Anything Goes Challenge.

We are kindly sponsored by Fred She Said and they are offering a $10 gift voucher for the lucky winner, chosen by random.org. Hop on over to see the fabulous selection of digi stamps, both black and white and coloured, as well as papers, decoupage and cutting files.

I was lucky to receive a wonderful digi to work with called African Violets and here is the card I made:

 

It's a Z-fold card - and it's super easy to make! I took a 6 x 6 inch card and chopped the bottom 1.75 inches off. Next it was just a matter of folding the front panel of both pieces in half and turning the smaller piece upside down. The card base is now ready to decorate.

I coloured the lovely potted violets with Copic Markers and fussy cut them. The main image was backed onto white card as it would overlap the panel. I used some digital papers from Pretty Grafik called Diamond Harlequin to cover all three panels of the two bases, then adhered them together. The violet images were glued directly onto the card and the die cut sentiment was popped on foam for a little dimension.
