* Vera Lane Studio: ATCs

Hello Crafty Friends!

Today I have some Vera Lane Studio projects to share.

I made a couple of ATCs following the Black and White with a Pop of Colour theme:

The backgrounds were made with acrylic paint and plastic wrap. I love the way they turned out.  Simply take some card, coat with gesso and let it dry. Spritz water over gessoed surface, add desired acrylic colour in blobs and use a paintbrush to spread and mix. The paint needs to be fluid, but quite thick - remember the more paint you use, the longer it takes to dry. Next lay plastic wrap over the painted card and push and crinkle the wrap into wrinkles all over. Allow the paint to dry thoroughly, preferably overnight, and then remove the wrap. (Here is a short video that I found online which shows the technique.)

The images are all coloured with alcohol pens and fussy cut.

The tree has some Nuvo Crystal Drops on the apples and the baby raccoon has Glossy Accent eyes and nose. A part sentiment was cut into strips and glued directly onto the background.  Washi tape was torn and used along the top and bottom edges. Green sticker gems were added in the corners and a white, hand drawn Posca pen border finishes the ATC off.

I love the textured look to this background. Again I tore washi tape and used it along the edges as a border. The flowers are simply printed and fuss cut - no colouring here, but I added Glossy Accents to them. The cat has Glossy Accent eyes.

* Vera Lane Studio: Black/White/Pop of Colour

Hello Crafty Friends!

Today I have some Vera Lane Studio projects to share.

I'm starting out with two cards following the Black and White with a POP of Colour theme and a reminder that you have until the end of May to enter our ATC challenge, hosted by Stephanie, with the same theme.

My first is Lil' Red and Big Bad :

Can you see how love-struck Big Bad is - he's a big softie really!!

And next are the lovely couple from The Raccoon Family:

These lovely pair would make a great engagement, wedding or special news card!

All images were coloured with markers, fussy cut and matted onto black card. The background paper was made using the dahlia flower from the Blooms for a Mother set. The edges of the paper were inked in black, ribbon/trim attached and matted onto black card.

*Vera Lane Studio: ATC Black and White with a pop of colour

Hello Crafty Friends!

I'm just back from a few days spent in the lovely Gibralta sunshine. We had a lovely time, resting and relaxing in-between exploring the Nature Reserve on The Rock and meeting the wild Barbary Apes.

Today I'm sharing an ATC I made for the May swap at Vera Lane Studio Facebook Group. Stephanie is hosting the swap and the theme is Black and White with a POP of colour.

I coloured the girl (February set) and flowers (Blooms set) using markers and pencils in various shades of grey. My pop of colour was crimson. I used white gel pen to add a few highlights and a blender pen to soften the colours on the edges of the blooms.  My little girl was fussy cut leaving a white border and then matted onto black card to make her pop from the background.
The background of the ATC is made from fabric tape and washi tape. The girl was added on foam pads and the blooms were shaped to give them some dimension and then added on foam pads. The sentiment is from the Fairy House set and was glued directly onto the background. The edges of the ATC were inked with a blender and black ink.

* Vera Lane Studio: Black and White with a Pop of Colour

Hello crafty friends!

Today I'm sharing a DT project for Vera Lane Studio.

This week we have a theme:
Black and White with a Pop of Colour
This ties in with the May ATC swap, hosted by Stephanie ... we'd love you to join in the fun!

So here is my project:

I used some of the older VLS sets for this: Ocean 11 and Under The Sea. All images were resized, some flipped and printed. They were coloured with alcohol markers and pencils. White gel pen adds some highlights.

The background was made with Brushos - I sprinkled black Brusho onto thick card and spritzed with water - to my surprise, the powder turned out to be a mixture of colours which then blended together to give this inky-black colour - if you look closely there are little patches of red and blue which didn't fully dissolve, but I like the effect! They add to the pop of colour!

They images were fussy cut and the white cut edges inked. Most were glued directly onto the background, but some shells, a starfish and the fish were added on foam pads. I used watercolour pencil to add shadows around the elements.

I finished off by adding some clear gems to represent bubbles and a few grey pearls. A wonky, wavy border was made with a white gel pen that needs replacing!

Finally the images were matted onto white, then black card and taped to a blank tent card.

Black and White

Hello friends,

I'm back - twice in one day - goodness gracious!!

I'm showing a card I made for the Gecko Galz Facebook Group Challenge, 'Black & White'.
Each month there are 5 challenges to enter and the prizes are wonderful collage sheets.
(There is also a Blog challenge where the winner gets a whopping $25 to spend in the online store!)

Anyhow ... here is my card:

I made the card base from card stock which was die cut at the top to give the shape of a dressing  screen. The paper is from a very old paper stack by DCWV, and I blinged it up a little with clear stick-on gems. The beautiful image was a free one from one of the DT's blogs at Gecko Galz.  She was fussy cut to leave a narrow white border and mounted on foam pads onto black card which had its corners rounded.

The flower embellishment was cut from paper in the same pack and mounted on foam pads. Three clear crystal gems were adhered to the top right corner of the image mat. This was then adhered on foam for more dimension.  A small hand tied, organza bow and a 'For You' glittered tag were added to the top left side.

Thanks for stopping by today!
