Vera Lane Studio: Violetta

Hello

Today is my DT day at Vera Lane Studio and we have a new digi set release called Violetta. Violetta is one of the beautiful, squishy characters and this set has three different Violetta poses along with a separate hat and three sentiments.

I made a set of trinchies (some call them thrinchies) which are 3 x 3 inches in size:

As usual I coloured the images with Copic markers and fussy cut them. Aren't they the cutest characters.

The background was made by inking one of Janet's stencil from AALL & Create called Dandelion Field. I used 3 shades of blue Distress Oxides, spritzed with water and stamped onto white card. White splatters were applied all over and some black stamping around the edges using Janet's stamp set called Background Noise. Some tone on tone stamping was added to the background and the edges inked with black Versafine.

I had some narrow red velvet trim which I decided to add along the bottom of each trinchie and I added a knot bow.

Here they are separately:

Each one would make a super topper for a card.

The sentiments are part of the Violetta digi set.

You can find Violetta here:

That's all for now.

I hope you'll come along and play on Vera Lane. It's such a friendly, fun place to be!

Path of Positivity: Mindfulness

Hello

Welcome to the midway reminder for the January Path of Positivity Challenge.

Our challenge is always Anything Goes with an optional theme.

This month's option is to design a project that is inspired by a word collage.

Honours and Prizes include:
  • $6 worth of images from Scribbles Designs, for a person chosen in a random draw based on all qualifying entrants.
  • A badge for the following honours: Top PickVoter's ChoiceMost InspirationalRandom WinnerDT Delight.
At this time of year I always think about my health and lifestyle. I try to eat healthily all the time, but there are always times when temptation gets in the way. Equally important is our mental health and that's what my project is focusing upon.
Mindfulness; living in the moment; noticing what is going on and letting it go; catching negative thoughts before they spiral; breathing; meditating; being kind to yourself; relaxing .... calmness. We all deserve that!

Here is my project:

Like my previous Path of Positivity post, I created the word collage using an online programme from Word Art.com which you can find here. It is quite simple to use: choose a shape, a font, a colour and fill boxes with the words that you want to feature. If you are not happy with the format, simply click 'Visualise' again and a new version will be generated. This way you decide which your focal  words are.
This is the word cloud that I settled for with my Mindfulness words.
You may use it if you wish, but please credit Word Art.com if you do :)

I chose a circle shape for my word cloud and it came with a coloured background. Once printed, I used a die cut circle to cover the word cloud circle and added inks, blending with brushes until they merge with the cloud background. I then added some white heat embossed foliage around the edges.
I used a beautiful digi stamp from Vera Lane Studio, called XOXO, and coloured it with Copic markers. I popped a Small Talk sticker sentiment onto the card as grounding for the girl and decided to add some washi tape as well. The wording on the sticker sentiment is how  we should strive to feel when life isn't getting in the way (as it often does).

That's all for now.
We would love to see your creations!
Just make sure that your entry is positive, inspirational, motivational or encouraging in some way!

That's all for today!
Many thanks to Scribbles Designs for sponsoring the challenge.

I'll be back with a another Path of Positivity project in a couple of weeks time.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Vera Lane Studio: Snow Fun

 Hello

Today is my DT day at Vera Lane Studio and I have a winter themed postcard to share.

I used the lovely girl from the November digi set and the cute (November 'free with purchases') snowman. I coloured them with Copic markers and fussy cut them. The background was made with 'In the Navy' PaperArtsy Infusions spritzed lightly with water and then gold pigment was added. Once the pigments were dry, star stamps from AALL & Create were heat embossed in white. Some black stamping and inking was added around the edges and white splatters applied all over. I added some snow bank shadows to ground the character and a sentiment from Snow Much Fun.

That's all for now.

I hope you'll come along and play on Vera Lane. It's such a friendly, fun place to be!

Gecko Galz: Welcome to Wonderland

Hello

Welcome to Carmelle F, my new follower.
Thank you for showing an interest in my projects :)

At Gecko Galz the challenge theme this month is Through the Looking Glass.

As always, we also have the monthly Image Challenge, the monthly Christmas Image Challenge, the monthly Stamp Challenge, an ATC challenge, a Steampunk challenge and a Gothic Challenge on the blog, as well as 4 Facebook challenges. These can be accessed by the tabs at the top of the main blog page.
And, new for this year, we have a quarterly challenge - the current one being make a Junk Journal - which ends on February 26th.
We hope you can find some time to join in the fun.

The winner of the Customer challenge will get a $25 Gecko Galz Etsy Store voucher and the runner up a $12 voucher. There are plenty of free Gecko Galz images if you don't already own any. Each blog post has a free image to collect and, if you sign up for the monthly newsletter, there is the chance to claim a free collage set each month.  Also if you make any purchase of $2 or more you receive a free image.

I made a card:

I love this image of an innocent Alice having her attention caught by the white rabbit hurrying by. Notice the little pixies peeping round from the undergrowth behind the characters.
The image is from the Wonderland Collage set and the paper is from the Wonderland ATC set. I popped the image on foam for dimension and added a piece of velvet ribbon along the bottom. I made a paper flower and die cut some leaves for decoration.

I next made a silhouette card:

This beautiful silhouette is one of 12 from the Wonders of Wonderland  Kit. It is popped on foam tape on top of paper from the same kit. I used red card for matting and added a red velvet trim and a knot bow, along with a sticker sentiment.
This is my example for one of the Facebook challenges - black and white with a pop of colour.

I also made a couple of digital collages.

I used digital ATC papers from the Looking Glass ATC set for the backgrounds, adding painted edge digital masks from Pixel Scrapper to add interest to the paper edges and floral elements for decoration. The beautiful images above are from the Wonders of Wonderland Craft Kit.  The image below is from the Wonderful Wonderland Collage set

Here are the products I used:

Vera Lane Studio: Sweet Life

Hello

Welcome to two new followers - Pam Tiedtke and Margreet Burger. Thank you for having interest in my blog :)

It's Monday and my DT day at Vera Lane Studio
Today there is a new digi set release called Sweet Life. It features two girl digis and two sentiments and is perfect for occasion cards and journal pages.

I made a small card and a decorated box of chocolates:

My digis are coloured with Copic markers and the background is a gelli print made with acrylic paints and a stencil.
I deconstructed a jumbo match box so that I could put an acetate window in the front and cover with the patterned card.

The chocolates are some of my favourites, a brand called Lily O'Brien's ...

That's all for now.

Path of Positivity: January Word Collage Calendar

Hello

Welcome to the January Path of Positivity Challenge.

Honours and Prizes include:

This is the word cloud that I settled for with my winter words.
You may use it if you wish, but please credit Word Art.com if you do :)

I decided to make a January calendar page with the winter word collage.
I used a cute, pre-coloured digi called Hat Tipping Snowman from Fred She Said. Luckily it is in .png format and has a transparent background, so it was popped over the right side of word collage. I found a calendar online at Print A Calendar.com and used the Numbers digi stamps from Vera Lane Studio for the year.
Once it had all been printed, I coloured the numbers with Copics and used a Lavinia stencil and Distress Oxides to add colour to the background. I added some white splatters for snow, then I matted it on to silver glitter card and then on to black card.

That's all for now.
We would love to see your creations!
Just make sure that your entry is positive, inspirational, motivational or encouraging in some way!
