* Path of Positivity: Winter

  Hello

Welcome to the midway reminder for the November Path of Positivity Challenge.

Our challenge is always Anything Goes with an optional theme.

This month's option is to design a project that focuses on celebrating THE SIMPLE THINGS IN LIFE.

Honours and Prizes include:
  • $6 worth of images from Scribbles Designs, for a person chosen in a random draw based on all qualifying entrants.
  • A badge for the following honours: Top PickVoter's ChoiceMost InspirationalRandom WinnerDT Delight.
 My project for today was inspired by the fabulous Tracy Evans, a stamp designer for AALL & Create.
Tracy's video (which you can watch here) had me mesmerised and I decided to give her 'bauble technique' a try.
I love the outdoors and though I'm not a fan of the cold weather, I love snowfall and countryside walks, so my Christmas bauble decoration is inspired by a simple woodland walk in winter time.

Inks are brayered onto the card to add colour to the background. The card is a one layer card, but gives the illusion of being three dimensional. This means that the card is flat and so is easy for mailing. You can see the techniques in Tracy's video.
Inside my bauble, I depicted a snowy, woodland scene with deer. The stamps I used are a mixture of Inkylicious, Lavinia and AALL & Create.

 The top of the bauble and the twine are doodled.

We would love to see your creations!
Just make sure that your entry is positive, inspirational, motivational or encouraging in some way!

* Vera Lane Studio: Seniors

 Hello

It's my DT at Vera Lane Studio and I have a postcard featuring two of the seniors, Esther Jean and Agnes Rose.

I used Copics and Polychromo pencils for colouring the images and popped them on an inky background,  printed with a stamping block. I added some tone on tone background stamping, using Janet's Background Noise stamp set from AALL & Create, and stamped in black around the edges. I used torn washi tape for grounding. I cut the sentiment, which I whole-heartedly identify with, into strips and outlined it in black fine liner.

I hope you'll come along and play on Vera Lane. It's such a friendly, fun place to be!

Hello

November is well and teeny underway and we have our ongoing monthly customer challenge at the Gecko Galz blog.
The theme this month is Retro Christmas.

As always, we have the monthly Image Challenge, the monthly Christmas Image Challenge, the monthly Stamp Challenge, a Steampunk challenge and a Gothic Challenge on the blog, as well as 4 Facebook challenges.
We hope you can find some time to join in the fun.

The winner of the Customer challenge will get a $25 Gecko Galz Etsy Store voucher and the runner up a $12 voucher. There are plenty of free Gecko Galz images if you don't already own any. Each blog post has a free image to collect and, if you sign up for the monthly newsletter, there is the chance to claim a free collage set each month.  Also if you make any purchase of $2 or more you receive a free image.

I've been having some retro fun with retro Gecko Galz images.
I made 2 snowmen ATCs with retro gift wrap style background paper. The cute snowmen are decoupaged and the snowbank is made from die cut glitter card.
The first snowmen is from the Frosty Collage Set and the sleigh snowman is from the Christmas Dreams Kit.
The papers are from the Retro Christmas ATC Collection.

These 2 cards are simple makes using collage images as card toppers:

The images are from the Little Christmas Ladies collage set and they were adhered onto a die cut, red scalloped mat. The papers and the greetings are from the Christmas Dreams Kit.  I added some gold mesh trim under the main image for texture and a little sparkle.

And here is the card I made for the Customer  Inspiration blog post:

You can read about this HERE.

* Vera Lane Studio: Santa's Favourite

 Hello

As we welcome a new week it's my DT day at Vera Lane Studio and we have a new release today. It's a Christmas digi set called Santa's Favourite and it feature a cute girl elf and her dachshund as well as two sentiments.

I made a card:

The background was a mono print using Distress Oxides and an acrylic block. I added a little of Janet's AALL & Create 'Background Noise' stamps, using black around the edges to make a frame. The digis were coloured with Copics and Polychromos, then fussy cut and adhered onto washi tape to ground them. I added some chunky white embossing powder, cut the sentiment into strips and adhered them.

That's all for now.

I hope you'll come along and play on Vera Lane. It's such a friendly, fun place to be!

* Spooktacular Florals

 Hello

I wanted to play in the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity's current challenge which is Spooktacular Florals.

I made this card:

Normally, I'm not a fan of skulls, but this one from AALL & Create looks friendly enough :)
I stamped her onto white card and fussy cut her, popping her on foam tape for dimension. I made her a wreath of stamped, fussy cut and shaped flowers for her head, adding some glitter to the centres. The smooshed oxide background was inked with black around the edges and then I stamped her a floral background.
I love this sentiment and thought it fitted Miss Skull nicely.

Thanks for stopping by today!

* Path of Positivity: CAS Floral Greetings

  Hello

Welcome to the November Path of Positivity Challenge.

I decided to make a trio of CAS cards as technically they are quite simple to make. However, in real life, I find them rather tricky (probably because I am a messy crafter) and am prone to get inky spots where there shouldn't be any.
It is no secret that I love all things to do with nature, so I chose simple grasses and wild flower stamps from Inkylicious along with simple, yet beautiful and bold sentiments.

The stamping was completed first and I used a stamp platform to make sure the silhouette stamps and words were crisp and black. Next I used torn paper as a mask on two sides of the base so that I could make a strip of colour. I used blending brushes and Distress Inks. The cards were matted onto black card then popped onto a white card base.

We would love to see your creations!
Just make sure that your entry is positive, inspirational, motivational or encouraging in some way!

* Vera Lane Studio: Sagittarius

Hello

It's time for another zodiac tag with the lovely Sagittarius from Vera Lane Studio.

I coloured this cutie with Copic markers. Her background was made with texture paste through an AALL & Create stencil which was then spritzed with all the pink sprays I own including distress, oxide and mica sprays. In real life it has beautiful shimmer. I heat embossed the heart background around the edges, added white splatters and then decided to edge with white embossing.
I added some torn washi to ground Sagittarius and dyed ribbon to match.

That's all for now.

I hope you'll come along and play on Vera Lane. It's such a friendly, fun place to be!
