* Gecko Galz: Yuletide Wishes

Hello

This month the main customer challenge over on the Gecko Galz blog is Yuletide Dreams.

As always, we also have free images to download to make projects to enter the Card challengethe Christmas Image Challenge, the Fantasy Challenge, an ATC challenge, a Steampunk challenge and a Gothic Challenge,. The free images can be accessed by the tabs at the top of the main blog pageWe also have a quarterly challenge. on the blog.

If that isn't enough challenges, we also have 4 Facebook challenges each month.
We hope you can find some time to join in the fun.

The winner of the Customer challenge will get a $25 Gecko Galz Etsy Store voucher and the runner up a $12 voucher. There are plenty of free Gecko Galz images if you don't already own any. Each blog post has a free image to collect and, if you sign up for the monthly newsletter, there is the chance to claim a free collage set each month.  Also if you make any purchase of $2 or more you receive a free image.

A Pyramid Card:

I used red card to make the base of the pyramid card and paper from my stash for the background. The beautiful image is from a set I received as a prize. I die cut it and matted it onto a red scalloped circle. I made some holly leaves and berries with a tiny tag to say 'joy' as embellishments. The back of the pyramid closes with a self adhesive hook and loop dot and it folds flat-ish (the holly adds dimension on mine) for mailing.

A Tri-fold Card:

My tri-fold card features two images from the newly released Yuletide Magic Card Toppers.
I made the card base from pearlised ivory card which is double sided and so the back looks pretty too. I used some festive paper from my own stash. All papers and images were heat embossed in gold along their edges, then matted onto gold card. I die cut the sentiments from gold card and placed them over the images.
The three side panels have Sizzix die cut sentiments saying love, hope and joy.

 Nutcracker Card:

This dimensional card features a beautiful Nutcracker from one of last month's free with purchase sheets. The paper is from my stash and the bauble was found online. The sentiment is die cut. The Nutcracker topper and the bauble are on foam tape and the sentiment was cut 3 times and adhered. Two poinsettias from an extra bauble were added to the top of the sentiment.

I made the die cut flowers and foliage from silver speckled card and silver card. The flowers have a gem stone centre.

I used a Sizzix die to cut the medium sized tags and I used left over scraps of patterned paper for the backing. The edges were inked in Vintage Photo. I added red velvet trim along the seam joining the papers. The little girl is from a set called Winter Cuties which I received as a prize/gift for commenting on the blog posts - so kind of Leanne to do this. She is mounted on a fancy edged die cut circle. Her poinsettia is die cut and heat embossed with Crackling Campfire Glaze and I used a brad for the centre.
The Nutcracker below was from one of the free with purchase sheets from November 2024. He is die cut and matted on red and gold card with a die cut sentiment.

* Path of Positivity: Family & Friends

Hello

Today marks the midway point of our challenge at the Path of Positivity.

Our challenge is always Anything Goes with an optional theme. We have decided that our overall theme for 2024 will be THE POWER OF WORDS.

November's option is to design a project that is inspired by quotes about

Family and Friends

***

Here is my Christmas card inspired by this quote:

“Let us relish life as we live it, find joy in the journey, and share our love with family and friends.” — Thomas S. Monson

I digitally added these wonderful Vintage Christmas Animals from Sharm Studio to  winter backgrounds from A&Jj Designs (Whimsical Winter Houses) and made a tri-fold card, step card.

I used embossed, pearlised, ivory card for the structure because the back is pearlised too. The peachy-pink, holly patterned paper is from a very old pack called Vintage Noel by Love to Craft. I heat embossed the edges of all the papers and the images in gold and matted them onto gold paper. The small squares are decorated with gold die cuts. The three steps say Joy, Hope and Love.

 I love these whimsical characters!

Here are this month's suggested quotes, but you can choose your own:

“If there ever comes a day when we can't be together. Keep me in your heart. I'll be there forever.” — Winnie the Pooh

“Walking with a friend in the dark is better than walking alone in the light.” — Helen Keller

“Having somewhere to go is home. Having someone to love is family. And having both is a blessing.” — Author Unknown

“The length of one's days matters less than the love of one's family and friends.” — Gerald R. Ford

“Let us relish life as we live it, find joy in the journey, and share our love with family and friends.” — Thomas S. Monson

That's all for now.
We would love to see your creations!
Just make sure that your entry is positive, inspirational, motivational or encouraging in some way!

Path of Positivity: Bunny Family

 Hello

Today is the start of a new challenge at the Path of Positivity.

Our challenge is always Anything Goes with an optional theme. We have decided that our overall theme for 2024 will be THE POWER OF WORDS.

November's option is to design a project that is inspired by quotes about

Family and Friends

***

Here is my project:

I have no words or sentiment as I wish to use this card as a Christmas card, but it has a small family of Lavinia hares.  This quote by Gerald R. Ford fits my scene “The length of one's days matters less than the love of one's family and friends.”
I started by inking the sky, using a circle mask for the moon and a piece of torn paper for the horizon. More strips of paper were used to ink the snow mounds. I used Distress Oxide inks as I find them easier to blend.
Keeping the paper masks in place, I stamped some twiggy branches in black and did secondary stamping to for a bit of dimension. I added black ink at the base of the bushes and then heat embossed some branches in white to represent frost. The hares were stamped last of all and some shadows placed beneath them. Finally white paint splatters were applied and some Glamour Dust glitter.

It's my DT day today, so here is what I made:

Fist up is a shaker card. I used one of the beautiful images from the Stay Wild Moon Child collage set and make a shaker frame by cutting out die frames and adhering them together. I added midnight blue, gold and orange sequins as the shaker element.
The background was finger painted with acrylic paints from PaperArtsy, then splattered with white and gold paint. The flowers and foliage were die cut from painted card.

Next I made a triple diamond point card.
Here is the stood up view:

I used another beautiful image from the Stay Wild Moon Child collage set and cut it with a circular die. I matted it on a die cut, white, scalloped circle. I chose paper  from my stash to match the colours in the image.
Lying down view:

I made die cut flowers and leaves as embellishment:

*The Crafting Challenge Sept AG 30/09

I made a very simple notecard, just using the gorgeous image from Stay Wild Moon Child and adding mats in gold and teal.

An altered spiral bound notebook - my favourite kind!

First, I coated the kraft, hard backed, cover in Inky Pool acrylic paint. When it was thoroughly dry, I splattered some white paint and added silver embossing powder around the edges. I made an inky background with Distress Oxides. I decided to give this (and the image) a coat of Distress Glaze to seal the surface so it wouldn't  react with any water. The image is from Stay Wild Moon Child. I added some silver metallic looking gems to frame the image and added a moon charm.

I also made a tri-fold shutter mini book which you can read about HERE.
