Path of Positivity: Snow Hugs

 Hello!

Today is the start of a new Path of Positivity challenge.
The challenge lasts for the month of December

This month the theme is Anything Goes with the optional twist of
Give/Help Others.

Prizes this month include:
  • TWO images from All Dressed Upour guest sponsor for this month, for a person chosen in a random draw based on all qualifying entrants.
  • ONE image (value of $5 or less) from Scribbles Designs, for the post or project that the team deems most inspiring of the bunch based on all qualifying entrants.
  • One digital image from Creative Bug Digital SnapShots for each person chosen as a DT Delight

So if you are following the theme this month, we would like you to design a project that focuses on Giving To or Helping Others. A giving heart is a joyful, positive heart and the holiday season is a perfect time for reflecting and thinking about what we can give to others.

How nice is it to get a hug or a kiss, or simply to feel that someone loves you. These are, in my opinion, the gifts that matter the most.
I made a journal page to show this:

Aren't these two cuties simply adorable!
I used the wonderful Snow Kisses digital stamp from Scribbles Designs and paired it with the Hug Need sentiment.
I coloured the image with Copic markers and made the background by smooshing card into puddles of blue Distress Oxides and adding white Posca pen splatters. Originally I had intended to make a card and had die cut my image, but I changed my mind and made a journal page. I fussy cut around the image and adhered it to a die cut snow bank.
Here is a close up of the pair:

Many thanks to All Dressed Up, this month's guest sponsor,

and to Scribbles Designs as the ongoing sponsor of the challenge

We would love to see your creations!
Just make sure that your entry is positive, inspirational, motivational or encouraging in some way!

All month long, until the 29th, we have the blog customer challenge and the theme is
We also have the Christmas Challenge and a monthly Image challenge, as well as 4 Facebook challenges. We hope you can find some time to join in the fun.

The winner of the Customer challenge will get a $25 Gecko Galz Etsy Store voucher and the runner up a $12 voucher. There are plenty of free Gecko Galz images if you don't already own any. Each blog post has a free image to collect and, if you sign up for the monthly newsletter, there is the chance to claim a free collage set each month.  Also if you make any purchase of $2 or more you receive a free image.

Today I am sharing two more vintage style Christmas cards.

I love this image of little Holly and Ivy sharing a kiss. It is from the Little Christmas Icons collage sheet and I matted it onto some music paper from the Christmas Carols collage set. The papers I chose came from the Christmas in Nature ATC set and the Merry and Bright. ATC Collection.. All cut edges are distressed and inked and matted onto kraft card. Some gold trim was added along the left hand side. Here is a close up:

My second card:

My second card follows the same format as the first - the only difference is the choice of image. This sleigh riding children are from the Little Christmas Icons collage set. The papers are from the Christmas Traditions ATC set and Merry and Bright. ATC Collection.

It is also my time to share another tag in our 24 tags of December event:

The sweet little Caroller image is from the Little Christmas Ladies collage set. I added her to a chipboard frame from my stash and layered it onto a Christmas Bingo card from the Altered Christmas collage set. The lovely paper, one of my favourites, is from the Christmas in Nature ATC set. I added some green velvet trim and made some holly berries and leaves to add as embellishments.

My other December Gecko Galz projects can be seen here and here.

Gecko Galz: Frosty Days

Hello

The DT at Gecko Galz have had a Secret Santa Swap.

Here is the handmade item I made for my swap partner.

It's a shadow box that lights up.
I used a small wooden vignette box and built up layers of the same image, decoupage style. I used an image from the Frosty Collage Set.
I added grit paste with Stampendous glitter mix, mica flakes and tiny rock stones. Concealed behind each layer are tiny lights.

I used 3D embossing folders to make the stonework for the interior walls of the box and the exterior brickwork. Distress Oxides and Distress Crayon provide the colour for the stones and bricks.

I added some die cut foliage, some real cones and some alcohol inked polystyrene balls, to represent holly berries, to one corner., along with a tiny bit of moss.

Here is the box with the lights on.

That's all for now.

I'll be back on the 20th December with more Gecko Galz projects.

Gecko Galz: White Christmas

 Hello

At the Gecko Galz Scrapbooking Blog we always have a 25 Tags of December event, and today is one of my days to show a tag that I created.

I'm calling this one White Christmas:

I used a Sizzix die to create a tag base from white card. I adhered some Gecko Galz patterned paper and a strip of silver glitter tape. Next I added my die cut image from the Winter Wonderland collage set (free at one of the blog hops) and I matted it onto silver mirror card, adding some silvery mesh trim underneath. I cut the girl image out from a second print, shaped her and popped her on foam tape so that she has some dimension. I added some die cut snowflakes with a gem in the centre of each one and I made a couple of 3D Impresslit Snowflakes to which I added glitter and silver embossing powder.
The white edges that were left exposed were also heat embossed with silver powder. A piece of white tinsel was threaded to tie the tag in place.

That's all for now!
I hope you'll join our Holly and Ivy Challenge where the winner will get a $25 shopping spree at the Gecko Galz shop.

The only rule is that you must use at least one Gecko Galz product

Christmas Robins, Gnomes and a Santa

Hello

In the Gecko Galz Facebook Group, we had a Christmas Ornament and card swap. Here is what I made and sent to the USA to my swap partner, Robin. It has arrived safely, so now I can share here.

My first ornament was a large, decorated matchbox with a decoupaged interior scene:

The front of the matchbox was decorated with images from the Gnome for the Holidays collage set. I set it on a gold mat and added sparkle with mica flakes. A half of an Impresslit star was also added at the top. The sides and back of the box were covered with beautiful patterned paper from the Christmas in Nature ATC set.

For the inside I used two collage images from Frosty Garden as well as one of the cheeky gnomes from the Gnome for The Holidays collage set. The images were fussy cut and decoupaged along with some die cut foliage. Lots of glitter and mica flakes were added to represent ice and snow.

***
My second ornament is a Santa wooden bauble.

I used the Santa face image from the Christmas Icons collage set. I printed the face twice, reversing one of the faces so that they could be glued back to back. The body of my santa is a flat wooden 'bauble' which I covered with red manuscript paper from the Merry and Bright ATC Collection. I filed around the edges and added some gold embossing powder. I adhered twine to replicate arms and legs and added wooden beads for weight and decoration.
His belt is a strip of glitter washi with a snowflake and gem for a buckle.

On the reverse Santa has three shiny gem stone buttons on his belt.

And here is the card I made:

I used the Christmas in Nature ATC Set for background paper and Plaid Paper from my stash. The main image is from The Frosty Garden collage set and I added die cut flowers and foliage and a die cut sentiment.

That's all for now!
I hope you'll join  the Gecko Galz Holly and Ivy Challenge where the winner will get a $25 shopping spree at the Gecko Galz shop.

Path of Positivity: Meowy Christmas

This year I lost my kitty, Casey. He was 14 and had been being treated for Hyper Thyroidism for a couple of years. He was the sweetest, gentlest kitty you could meet. He strayed into our garden one winter and seemed to like it. At first he lived in the bushes and stole food from our other cat when no one was watching :) During a particularly bad, cold snap, he developed an eye infection and we took him to the vets, who confirmed that he had no ID chip. We decided to adopt him. This was sorted through the Cat's Protection Society. They do such wonderful work, taking in stray and unwanted cats and rehoming them and we will always be grateful for them allowing us to have time with our darling boy! Each year we donate to their charity so that other kitties can have a better life. My project reflects this.

I used the beautiful Meowy Christmas digi stamp, kindly given to me by our sponsor, All Dressed Up. I used Copics and Polychromo pencils to colour the image. I used a Sizzix circle die to cut the image and added some acrylic ink spatters. When the splatters were almost dry, I sprinkled white embossing powder over and heated it - this gave me some lovely, textured snow flurries.
I used patterned paper for the background and added some heat embossed snow flakes. Kraft card was used for matting and some lovely velvet trim was added along the left hand side.

Many thanks to All Dressed Up, this month's guest sponsor,

and to Scribbles Designs as the ongoing sponsor of the challenge

We would love to see your creations!
