* Vera Lane Studio: Black and White with a Pop of Colour

Hello crafty friends!

Today I'm sharing a DT project for Vera Lane Studio.

This week we have a theme: 

Black and White with a Pop of Colour. 

This ties in with the May ATC swap, hosted by Stephanie ... we'd love you to join in the fun!

So here is my project:

 

I used some of the older VLS sets for this: Ocean 11 and Under The Sea. All images were resized, some flipped and printed. They were coloured with alcohol markers and pencils. White gel pen adds some highlights. 

The background was made with Brushos - I sprinkled black Brusho onto thick card and spritzed with water - to my surprise, the powder turned out to be a mixture of colours which then blended together to give this inky-black colour - if you look closely there are little patches of red and blue which didn't fully dissolve, but I like the effect! They add to the pop of colour!

They images were fussy cut and the white cut edges inked. Most were glued directly onto the background, but some shells, a starfish and the fish were added on foam pads. I used watercolour pencil to add shadows around the elements.

I finished off by adding some clear gems to represent bubbles and a few grey pearls. A wonky, wavy border was made with a white gel pen that needs replacing!  

Finally the images were matted onto white, then black card and taped to a blank tent card.

If You Give A Crafter A Cookie: April Showers

Hello crafty friends!

Today is the start of a brand new challenge at 

If You Give A Crafter A Cookie.
I hope you'll join us.

Here is the photo inspiration:

We don't have any sponsors this time, so I chose to use some lovely, quirky digital stamps from Vera Lane Studio:

I used April Showers and flower elements from May.

   

I arranged the digital stamps how I wanted them, flipping the image of April, then printed them out. I used a stitched rectangle to die cut the image card and coloured with my markers. I added glitter to April's eye shadow, the flowers and raindrops and filled in the background with some dots of glitter.
The image was matted onto black card, then mounted onto patterned paper which in turn was matted onto black card.

Vera Lane Studio: Unicorn and Rainbow Mobile

Hello!

Here's my final DT project for VLS with the newly released Unicorn and Pegasus digital set:

I made a small paper mobile. 

The images were printed out in normal and reverse, so that they could be placed back to back. They were coloured with alcohol markers and I coloured the edges of the back of each image with black marker pen. Glitter was applied to the large clouds (from the March set) and Fluffy Puffy Stuff was applied to the clouds beneath the rainbows. The unicorns have glitter in their manes, tails and along their horns.  

The images were adhered together with foam tape making sure the transparent jewellery cord was also attached through the centre of each image.

I decided to add the sentiment "Believe" on pink glitter card at the bottom of the middle thread. 

The top of the mobile was cut from cardboard and covered with pink glitter card. A narrow ribbon is attached for hanging it up.

The photo below doesn't really do it justice! Honest!!!
The mobile was constantly moving ... hence it's name, I suppose :)

Vera Lane Studio: Unicorns and Glitter

Hello!

 I'm sharing a second DT project for VLS.

I used the new VLS release called Unicorns and Pegasus.



This time the image is more CAS style and coloured with markers, with a bit of added glitter. The image is mounted onto pink glitter card and this in turn is mounted (on foam pads) onto the white embossed card. All three layers are matted on black card.

Vera Lane Studio: Unicorn Shaker

Hello, crafty friends!

Today I'm sharing a DT project for Vera Lane Studio.

There is a new VLS release today: Unicorns and Pegasus ... how magical!

I love unicorn's expression! Doesn't he look cheeky?

I made a 6 x 6 inch tent card.

I used a wooden frame, heat embossed with holographic embossing powder, to house the shaker element. Acetate was taped to the underside of the frame and foam tape trimmed to attach the frame to the cloudy paper. I haven't quite mastered the technique of getting the stickiness off the tape edges, so some of the sequins tend to stick to the sides :(

My unicorn is coloured with alcohol markers and has Glossy Accent eyes to make them shine and he has glitter in his mane, tail and along his horn.

I felt that my monochromatic unicorn card needed plenty bling, so I found some silver mesh which I cut into strips.

The unicorn was adhered to the outside of the shaker box using a double layer of foam pads over the acetate and ordinary tacky glue over the frame.

Crafts Galore Encore: My Sweet Rose

Hello!

It's May, so today sees the start of a new challenge at 
Crafts Galore Encore. 

As always, the theme is Anything Goes 
Our sponsors are the wonderful Star Stampz and Ppinky Dolls.

  

I got to choose a Star Stampz digital stamp called My Sweet Rose to work with. 

Here is my card:



The image was coloured with alcohol pens and die cut with a scalloped circle. It was matted onto a textured navy blue scalloped circle. 
The background paper is from Craft Sensations. This was matted onto the textured blue card. A banner was placed across the bottom part of the card along with some beautiful ivory lace. 
Paper flowers were die cut, inked and shaped along with some leaves. Tiny pearls were placed in the centre of each flower.

Gecko Galz: Country Charm

Hello, crafty friends!

It's May already and so today sees the start of a new challenge at Gecko Galz.

This month our customer challenge theme is Country Charm.

 I made two vintage style cards with flowers and butterflies:

Each tent card measures 4.5 x 4.5 inches.

What I used:
Images:Provence Garden Digital Collage Set
Papers: Gypsy Market Digital Paper Pack
Sentiments: Charming Words Collage Set

  
Distress ink, clear embossing powder, heat tool, lace, muslin, foam pads, double sided tape, glue.

Here's a closer look:





Step by step:

1.  Cut Gypsy Market paper to 5 x 5 inches - distress the edges with scissors and ink with Vintage Photo distress ink.
2.  Cut ivory card 5.5 x 5.5 inches - distress edges and ink as above.
3. Print images and cut out. Distress and ink edges.
4. Cut ivory card slightly larger than image - distress and ink edges. Tape image onto this mat.
5. Cut muslin to size slightly larger than image mat, dye it using distress ink and water. When dry, fray the edges and place beneath image mat, securing it with tape/glue. 
6. Add cotton lace through the centre of the background paper.
7. Use foam pads to attach image mat.
8. Fussy cut the butterflies, ink the edges and then heat emboss with clear powder and attach to diagonally opposite corners of the image.
9. Cut the sentiment, ink the edges and attach on foam tape.
10. Tape all to card base.
