* Vera Lane Studio: Floweret

Hello!

Here we are with another Monday and a brand new week!

For my Vera Lane Studio DT post this week I made an art journal page featuring the newly released Floweret.

Isn't she sweet! I teamed her with two flowers that are the same design, although she does come with two different flowers, the cloud and the 'Bloom' sentiment. The beautiful birdie is from the La Dolche Vita set. I coloured the images with Copics and finished with pencils and Posca pen highlights. 

The background was heat embossed with white EP using Janet's Splodge stamp from the #338 Background Noise set available from AALL & Create. Stormy Sky, Speckled Egg and Twisted Citron Distress Oxides were applied directly to the background and spritzed with water. More Background Noise stamping in tone on tone colours and some black script was added along the edges. Grounding this time is with another Background Noise stamp.

* Artsystamper: Fall Flowers

Happy Monday!

Today sees the start of a new challenge at the Artsystamper Challenge Blog. 

Each challenge runs for two weeks and starts on the first and third Monday of the month. 

The theme for this challenge is Fall Flowers.

Here is my card:

I chose one of Beverly's chrysanthemum digi stamps from the Fall Flowers collection. I coloured it with Copic markers and fussy cut it leaving a thin white border. I stamped the beautiful Inkylicious sentiment onto card and used a Tim Holtz die to cut the lattice in the card front. I used orange Brushos to create the back piece, placed the die cut card in front and added the flower. I matted onto black and popped onto a card base.

AALL & Create: Piggy Bank

Hello!

For my AALL & Create guest post this week I have made a Piggy Bank. The Piggy Bank started out as a wooden money box from the kiddies craft section of a local store.

The front:

I used the fabulous Janet Klein stamps for my focal images and for the ephemera flowers and grasses, along with a stencil from Autour de Mwa to make the stonework for the building. The roof is made from scalloped 'tiles' which are really a border stamp in one of Janet Klein's sets, #300 The Adventurer.

Sides:

Step by Step:

1.  Gesso the bare wooden money box.

2.  Remove the roof. Apply modelling paste through #55 Crazy Paving stencil.

3. Colour with paints and add shading with NeoColour II crayons.

4. Stamp the scalloped border from set #300 Look Cute several times with Vintage Photo onto kraft card.

5. Fussy cut the scalloped borders and glue to the roof, overlapping each layer.

6.  Stamp and colour the piggies from stamp set #345 Bacon.

7.  Stamp grass and flowers from #296 Wild and Free, colour and fussy cut.

8. Stamp flower from set #297 Simple but Significant and the bunny from set #354 Bunny and Bunnies; colour and fussy cut.

9. Adhere all images to the walls of the Piggy Bank. Add the printed words 'Piggy Bank' to a frame and attach. Glue roof back onto walls.

* Vera Lane Studio: Chicken

Hello!

Today is my DT day at Vera Lane Studio and I have chosen an older digi set to be the focus of my project this week. I made a card:

I used Chicken, which is currently discounted in the Etsy store, along with one of the twelve suns from Suns and a flower from Llama and Giraffe.

The images were coloured with Copic markers and fussy cut. The background was made by inking Janet's Dandelion stencil, from AALL & Create, with Broken China and Fossilised Amber, spritzing it with water and stamping. A little extra coloured ink was added around the edges and finished with black ink. Some Background Noise stamping was also placed around the edges of the background to frame the piece. White paint splatters were added.

Chicken girl was placed on washi tape to ground her and the quirky sentiment, which sounds like it should be a proverb, was cut into strips, inked and adhered.

* AALL & Create: Cutie Window Wallet Book

Hello!

For my guest designer post for AALL & Create this week, I have created a wallet-style mini book. I love creating mini books and Janet Klein's little cutie stamps from AALL & Create are perfect for this. 
This wallet has an acetate window in the front cover and an accordion inside. I must credit Gwen Lafleur for the inspiration to make the window wallet. The wallet closes with raffia twine thread through the cover. To make the punch holes more sturdy I used a Versamark pen and heat embossed around the holes, Pretty wooden beads were threaded onto the end of the raffia for a boho look.

Step by Step:

1. On a brayer painted tag measuring 8 x 4 inches (PaperArtsy Frescos in Haystack, Butternut and Cayenne) I stencilled through the lovely Elegance #90 stencil using Distress Oxide inks to match the painted background.
2. The tag was scored and folded at 3.5 inches and 7 inches.
3. A window was die cut from the front section, and I stamped with Roundly #366 and Mesh #262. The edges and folds of the cover were inked in black. I added some white embossing to the front cover using the splodgy stamp from Background Noise #338. White paint splatters were added.

4. Five pieces of 3.25 x 3.5 inch card were coloured by smooshing in Distress Oxides. Bold Alphas #336 were heat embossed in white and Background Noise #338 was stamped around the edges in black.  White paint splatters were added.
5. An accordion was made from two pieces of card (3.75 x 9.75 inches). Each card was scored and folded at 3.25 inches along the long side. Two of the sections, one from each piece, were glued together to form the accordion). Holes were punched in three places for threading the trim through. They were reinforced with heat embossing, but a ring reinforcer would work just the same. 
6. Acetate was adhered to the back side of the front cover to act as the window.

7. A selection of Janet Klein's cuties were stamped, coloured with Copics and Polychromo pencils and fussy cut. They were affixed on the cards with washi tape for grounding. 
8. The completed cards were attached, using red tape, to the accordion.
9. The last picture was placed so that it would show through the front cover window.



The one inch flap, at the end of the tag, folds over the accordion pages, the twine goes through the back of the front cover, then beads were attached (leaving enough length to wrap the twine around the book a couple of times and tie in a bow).

I was lucky to receive an image from our lovely sponsor, Beccy's Place. I chose Stanley in Paradise and one of the sentiments from his set. Here is the card I made:



Isn't he fabulous!  I have always has a fascination with dressed animals - be it Victorian photographs or caricature animals. I find something very appealing about them. Their cuteness makes me ohhh and ahh! I also love the Hawaiian islands and the beautiful Hula dancers, so this image of Beccy's is perfect for me.
I coloured Stanley with my Copic markers and fussy cut him, leaving a thin white border. The background is Distress Oxides in Scattered Straw, Fossilised Amber, Picked Raspberry and Worn Lipstick - it was layered over the card and blended with a spritz of water. I heat embossed the Roundly stamp from AALL & Create in white and inked the edges of the background in black. The sentiment is die cut with a Cheery Lynn banner die and Stanley is popped on a home made wobble spring, so that he can hula, or jiggle! So much fun and I know just the person to give him to!
