Hello!
Have you heard?
It's the Cat Lovers Hop hosted by Janis at Her Peaceful Garden.
This year is the fifth hop and it's a crazy week filled with crafting, commenting and celebrating cats of all sizes. There are fabulous sponsors and prizes to be won, but best of all, friendships to be forged with like minded cat lovers from around the world. Why don't you come and join us?
Here is my fourth card:
I love Laurel Burch images! I'm a big fan of colour - the brighter, the better in my book, so Laurel Burch images are purr-fect for me! Holly Cat was the prize that I won in the 2018 Cat Lovers Hop and I have kept it in its packaging until now.
I used to have a cat named Holly - a sweet natured, tuxedo that we adopted as a tiny kitten. She lived happily for 18 years and loved to travel in the car when we went to visit friends for the weekend.
I coloured the image with Copic markers and added some white highlights and dots with a white Posca paint pen. I made the plaid-like background by brayering Twisted Citron and Peacock Feathers Distress Oxides horizontally and vertically onto 300 gsm card. The card edges were inked with Peacock Feathers and then black archival ink.
I fussy cut around the frame of the image and popped it on foam tape for dimension. I stamped the sentiment (free with a magazine last year) onto white card, inked the edges with Peacock Feathers and glued it directly onto the background.
Please bear with me, Cat Lovers - I am such a slow commenter. I'm only half way through at the moment, but promise I'll get to all your posts before the end of the hop!
Thanks for stopping by today.

Hi Carole this is a fantastic card. I love that cat he looks amazing. Take care. Hugs Jackie
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card! I love the colors you used to color the image...very striking! :) And I smiled reading about your cat which loved to ride....my cats howl and carry on something awful if I take them for a ride. They act like I am taking them off to be murdered but it's only to the vet....but in their mind, same thing I guess. ha-ha
ReplyDeleteLOVE the Laurel Burch cat designs.... my favorites! Awesome card with fabulous colors!
ReplyDeleteSo cool and different Christmas card! Love the green cat and your amazing colouring on the background!

Extraordinary card! Wow the use of those oxide inks! You've done that Burch kitty stamp justice! Bless your Holly, its hard when they are gone, I know what you are feeling after losing my 18yr old Blackie last year. What a beautiful card and stamp to remember her by. Hugs to youxx
ReplyDeleteOooh, so very pretty! Lovin' all that lime green. You've really
ReplyDeletecolored this beautifully. I have this stamp sitting on my desk, but
not sure I'll find the time to color it up. It's such a pretty stamp.

Carole, thanks so much for introducing me to Laurel Burch, what a great image. I think the majority of the reason I like the image so much is your beautiful, bright, happy colors! What a wonderful card.

ReplyDeleteGorgeous green here.
ReplyDeleteWhat a stunning image. I love your colouring too, and choice of zany colour scheme.
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment - I've been overwhelmed by all the lovely comments left by everyone in the hop - something not often seen in blog land anymore! Your green cat is so stunning - I'm going to sit here with my coffee and browse a while.
ReplyDeleteI love the bright colors you have used on this wonderful stamp! How exciting that it is not only a prize, but it shares the name with a beloved family member. I have had cats over the years that enjoyed traveling with me, and others that didn't take to it quite so well. It's nice when they can go on adventures with you! :)
ReplyDeletethis is lovely card!
ReplyDeleteFantastic color combo, Carole, and I love that cat! I've only recently been introduced to the Laurel Burch cats and am now on crusade to collect them all. lol
ReplyDeleteHi, Carole.....so great to see you using your prize from last year's Hop!! YAY!! How appropriate that it has the same name as your beloved Holly. So sweet.
ReplyDeleteI love the wonderful bright colors you used...very much in keeping with the spirit of Laurel Burch's affection for vivid color schemes. Your background is beautiful and the nuances of shading and highlighting with your coloring is phenomenal. Everything is just fabulous.
Thank you so much for playing along in the #2019CatLoversHop!!!
