ATC: Garden Friends

The challenge at Wicked Wednesday this week is #204 Garden Friends

The sponsor is Miss Rach and I was delighted when I visited her blog to find some digi freebies.

I've used the adorable spring hedgehog to make my ATC.

Background: I textured the ATC card with Tiny Dots stencil and modelling paste. Then I used a blending tool to apply ink (Crushed Olive, Bamboo Leaves, Vintage Photo and Danube Blue with a touch of Nautical Blue). Next I added more texture with a cracked surface stamp from Inkilicious. The card was edged in jet black ink.

Image:  Miss Rach's free spring hedgehog was coloured with Sprectrum Noir markers. The eyes and nose were coated in glossy accents to give some shine. It was cut to leave a thin white border and was mounted on foam pads.

The grass was die cut (Your Next Die: Flower Fun Spring Grass) from book paper and smooshed in distress ink (Picked Raspberry and Mustard Seed) and water then attached in layers to the bottom of the ATC.

A piece of baker's twine was wrapped around the top of the ATC and tied in a bow. 

White Space

The challenge this week at Less is More #270 is a colour challenge. It is: White space but not  WHITE 

Here is the card I made:

The scribbly flower was stamped in black ink onto book paper. It was then coloured in a puddle of distress ink (Rose bud and Spiced Marmalade) and water. Once dry the flowers were glued onto snippets of black card and cut out. The same was done with a piece of torn paper for the sentiment. 

The sentiment was stamped and was heat embossed. I cut a piece of Kraft card to 12cm x 17 cm as the background of the card and assembled the flowers and sentiment using foam pads to add a bit of dimension. The main flower was finished with a pearl centre.The kraft card was attached to a white card base.

Lilac House Mouse

I'm really thrilled to say that this little mouse helped me be in the Top 3 at House Mouse and Friends Monday Challenge...eeeeeek!!



I've used my one and only house mouse stamp for this card. 

I'm sure to start a collection of House Mouse stamps though, as they are simply adorable! 

House-Mouse have their own challenge blog and I decided to play along.  

The current challenge is a BLOG HOP CHALLENGE, HMFMC# 216 and the theme is to use stencils with a HMD stamp. The design team have loads of inspiration and there are some great prizes on offer.

Here is what I made.

I used a Crafter's Companion stencil called Mini Stick Flowers by Balzer Designs to create the background on white card stock. I applied Memento inks in Danube Blue, Lilac Posies and Rose Bud with a blending tool over the stencil, then inked the edges to make a border. I also blended some inks onto the House-Mouse image background.

The stamp is Scent of Lilac and features tiny Monica mouse. It is coloured with Spectrum Noir markers. It was die cut with an Xcut scalloped square, then trimmed into a rectangle, as I felt there was too much 'white space'. A larger rectangle of white card was also die cut and the image was mounted on foam pads.

I added ribbon along the bottom of the card and glued on some die cut flowers with lilac crystal gems for the centres, along with the sentiment. The whole card was then mounted on black card and attached to the card base.

Grow A Happy Life

This card was chosen in the Top 3 at The Crafty Addicts Challenge #12 Anything Goes/Springtime



Hello!

I used the beautiful Lovely Garden digi set from Vera Lane Studio to make this card.  

The sentiment is from the Grow a Happy Life set.

The background is design paper called Retro Floral. The brown paper was hand torn so that the white torn edge was visible. The papers were lightly gessoed to mute down the colours. Black paint splashes were applied. The images were resized and coloured with Spectrum Noir markers, then fussy cut and mounted on foam pads to give dimension. The grass fringe was hand cut, coloured in a puddle of distress ink and water, then attached on foam pads.

ATC: Lots of Glitter

At Wicked Wednesday this week, the theme is Lots of Glitter.

Here is my ATC:

Background: Memento inks in Danube Blue, Rose Bud and Lilac Posies were applied and blended with a blending tool.

Images: These were stamped with a free stamp set from Papercraft Essentials magazine Issue #127.

The grasses were heat embossed with gold powder; the stars were heat embossed with white tinsel powder; the fairy was heat embossed with clear powder and the fairy's wings were heat embossed with holographic powder; all the powders added some sparkle.

Purple glitter was applied with a glue pen to the ground and finally, the edge of ATC was heat embossed with white tinsel powder to create a border.

Winnie Sugar Sprinkles

The challenge this week at Digi Choosday is Flower Frenzy.

I chose the beautiful Winnie Sugar Sprinkles Springtime Design sheet 2 from Polkadoodles  for my card. There are so many ways you can use the pre-coloured digital images and background.

Whoohoo!!! This card helped me to win a Feather in my Cap and was chosen by the DT to be in the top 3.

          

Here is my make:

I printed the sheet out twice so that I could add dimension by using foam pads. The only 'extras' I used besides the design sheet was a couple of die cut doilies as a background for the main image, and a glittered sentiment.

 I then decided to go with a simple, traditional layout which although quick and easy, is still lovely to give and receive. This one still has dimension, but was made with just one copy of the design sheet.

The card itself is made from kraft card which I think perfectly compliments the lovely pastel colours of the background papers. The image was edged in pink chalk and mounted on foam pads. The butterfly and sentiment were part of the design set. The only embellishment I added was the string of pink crystals. Simples!

Snippet Squares

Here is my Pixies Snippets Playground card for this week.

I used two long, thin, left-over strips of white cardstock to create the squares.



The white card was inked with Tim Holtz Picked Raspberry and Spiced Marmalade distress ink, then cut into small squares and die cut using a 4.5 cm scalloped square die from XCut. This left even more snippets - lovely little frames that I might try to incorporate into another card.
The images were stamped onto each square in Ranger Jet Black Archival ink. The stamps are tiny ones from two sets; one from Craft Sensations and the other from The Works.
The tricky part for me was glueing the squares into place on the black background - I'm someone who can't draw a straight line using a ruler! .... and BTW, I can't walk in a straight line either :)
Once the squares were in place, I glued the strip along the bottom edge and finished it off with a gold, mirror-board die cut statement.
The black card was then mounted onto the card on foam pads.
