Autumn Tag

Hello!

My tag was in the Top 3 at Crafty Friends Challenges and Top 3 at Crafting With An Attitude!

A very warm welcome to my latest followers (Jarka, AngeLLina, Anna, Matty and Mapnha).
I'm so happy you were all able to join me.

Well, this week has been quite beautiful, weather-wise, here in North West England, but I have noticed that the trees have begun shedding their leaves at a rapid pace. They look so lovely. This is my miniature weeping cherry tree; it won't be long before it is bare :(

I've been playing with some Gecko Galz collage sheets and this is an Autumn Tag I made.

My tag is 8cm x 16 cm, made from heavy white card stock. It was backed with free paper which I found on Geko Galz Pinterest page. The edges were inked in TH Spiced Marmalade.  A brown doily was cut into two and attached to the bottom and top of the tag.

I fussy cut and inked the edges of images from these collage sheets:
* Fall into Nature 2 (main tree)
* Fall Colours Jewel It 1 & 2   (squirrel, birds on branch, autumn tree)

I placed a burlap tag to act as backdrop to the main tree image; the image was placed on foam pads to make it 3D. The birds on a branch were added on pop dots and the squirrel placed to stand on the stones at the foot of the tree.

Cotton lace was adhered down the left side of the tag. Patterned paper flags which were gifted to me in some recent happy mail (thanks, Dawn!) were added beneath the image and curled at the edges. Two felt buttons were tied with orange twine and held in place on top of the flags with glue dots. The Autumn Tree was added as a sentiment.

Finally, ivory organza ribbon was threaded through the tag and two fabric autumn leaves, which I glittered, were adhered to the top of the tag, along with a silver tree charm.

Cozy Autumnal Days: {PIN}spirational Challenge #176

Hello

Today I'm sharing my DT post for the new challenge which starts today at

Each challenge runs for two weeks and has a photo to spark your inspiration.
There are just a few rules and these can be found on the sidebar of the {PIN}spirational blog.
Any project is welcome as long as it is inspired by the photo.
You can enter up to five projects in each challenge.

The sponsor is Fred She Said

and the prize is a $10 gift certificate!

Here is the photo for the current challenge #176 which runs until October 24th:

Don't those blankets look warm and cozy - perfect for snuggling up and reading a good book!

I made my cozy autumnal card with digital stamps called September from Vera Lane Studio. I love the cute and quirky characters that Janet Klein creates.

I chose some seasonal coloured patterned paper for the background. This was matted onto black card.
The images were coloured with Spectrum Noir markers and fussy cut. I left a thin white border around the girl and the dog so that they would stand out from the background. The girl's eye lids has glitter applied, the dog's eyes has glossy accents. Both were attached to the background on foam pads. The leaves were fussy cut and inked around the edges, then arranged and curled on the page as a border. The sentiment was printed from my computer.

That's all from me today.  I hope you'll pop over to
{PIN}spirational Challenges
to check out the gorgeous designs by the rest of the DT.

We would love for you to take part in the challenge!

Autumn Pocket Letter: If You Give A Crafter A Cookie #54

Hello

Today I'm sharing my DT post for a new challenge that starts today at

Every two weeks we are given a fantastic cookie photo to spark our imagination and this is the current one:

 Such cute cookies!

Take the photo literally, or think outside the box!

Base your creation on theme, colour, pattern or shape.

I'm thinking along these lines:

pumpkin = harvest, halloween, cinderella, pie
leaves = autumn, forest, garden
acorns = squirrels, oaks, woodland, any critters
turkey = celebration, birds, farm

I'm sure there are many more ideas....

This challenge is open until October 19th and you can enter up to 5 different projects.
Make anything you like, it doesn't have to be a card.

Our sponsor for this challenge is the lovely

The prize is a $12 certificate!

I made an Autumnal themed Pocket Letter for one of my trans-Atlantic friends. I love the colours and the cute harvest and woodland creature images.

I started by cutting my 9 background papers from a co-ordinating paper pack (free download from Yanie). The edges of the papers were inked in Tim Holtz Vitage Photo. The web-found images inside the pockets were resized so they would fit onto the 9 x 6.5 cm papers. I printed out two of each image, so that I could decoupage parts of the image on pop dots to give some dimension. The edges of the images were also inked. Lace, felt, die cuts, gold and copper stickers were used as embellishments.

The doll is 'Rita' from Julie Nutting. She was stamped onto heavy card stock. Her dress was paper pieced and the rest was coloured in alcohol inks. She was fussy cut and then heat embossed with WOW clear powder to make her more vibrant and also sturdier, as she was to be placed on the outside of the pockets. She was attached to the bottom two pockets with double sided tape, so that the backs of all the pockets could still be utilised for crafting goodies.

The flowers were created with patterned paper using the Heartfelt Creations 'Arianna' die. They petals were shaped before being layered and a black gem was placed in the centre of each flower. They were attached to the lacy spine of the pocket letter with glue dots.

The back of my pocket letter contains small crafting goodies that the recipient can use on future projects, as well as the letter. Here is the back of mine:

Pocket 1 = letter and die cuts
Pocket 2 = small polymer stamps
Pocket 3 = burlap butterflies, bee paperclip and buttons
Pocket 4 = felt die cut shapes, wooden button
Pocket 5 = burlap & kraft mason jar stickers, felt fox
Pocket 6 = glitter tape and cupcake stickers
Pocket 7 = Tea
Pocket 8 = felt leaves, butterflies
Pocket 9 = crystal gems, pearl hearts and dragonfly charm

That's all from me for today. Now it's over to you...

Please pop over to the
challenge blog to check out the lovely designs by the rest of the DT.
We would love for you to share your projects in the challenge!

ATC: Helga's Hedgehogs

Hello,

Today I'm sharing an ATC I made for the VLS Facebook swap.
The theme this time was to use a rubber stamp along with the Vera Lane Studio image.

Here is what I made:

The background is inked with Memento and Tim Holtz inks. The card edge was inked in Vintage Photo. A flourish from Inkilicious was stamped onto the background using the Vintage Photo ink.
The image is VLS Helga's Hedgehog. The leaves are from the September Birthday set. All images were coloured with alcohol markers, then fussy cut and attached to the card, some directly with glue, but the main image, hedgehog and floating leaves were popped on foam pads for dimension.
The sentiment was stamped (Lawn Fawn), then cut out and inked before being attached on foam pads.

Thanks for stopping by today!

ATC: Feathers

Hello!

Welcome to Terri, Babs and Wendy - I'm thrilled you could join me!

This week, the ATC challenge at Wicked Wednesday is Fins, Feathers or Fur.

I went with feathers, as I remembered I had a cute little bird by Miss Rach, who is the sponsor.

I bought this bird because it was pretty to look at - I had no idea how gorgeous it is in real life! It's an Australian Bee Eater and I had to Google it to see how I should colour it. WOW!!! I didn't expect that.

{Moral of this little tale: buy from Miss Rach and get educated :-) teehee! }

Anyhow...here is my ATC:

The marbled background was printed using shaving cream and Dylusions ink in Fresh Lime and Calypso Teal. The edges of the card were then inked in black.
The bird was coloured with alcohol markers, then fussy cut leaving a thin white border. This was matted onto black card and fussy cut again. The image was added to the ATC on foam pads. Glitter was applied to the little heart and 2 craft feathers were stuck to the bottom corner along with a lime green bow. Such a 'tweet' little bee eater!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Gentle Astrid at Crafts Galore Encore

Hello!

A very warm welcome to my latest followers, Janice Rohde, Sidelle Menon, Richa Maurya and Hindustanka.  I'm so glad you could join me!

It's October!
Can you believe it?
The nights are drawing in here in the Northern hemisphere. There's a bit of a chill in the air, morning mist on the ground and the leaves are just starting to turn golden. We are lucky to be getting quite a bit of sunshine at the moment .... it's such a beautiful time of the year!

The start of a new month means a new challenge at

This month the theme is Anything Goes and our sponsor is Kenny K Stamps.

I wasn't one of the lucky DT members to get a Kenny K stamp to work with this time, so as the theme is Anything Goes, I chose to use the gorgeous Gentle Astrid #272 digital stamp from ArtbyMiran.

I coloured the image with alcohol markers, then die cut it with a stitched rectangle and lightly inked the background. I matted and layered the image on black and patterned paper to make a topper for my 'Over the Edge' card.

The background patterned paper is a digital download from Yanie which you can find here. (Yanie has some beautiful paper packs and they are available free of charge: I highly recommend you take a look through her pages). Gorgeous ivory lace was fixed along the bottom edge and the paper was matted onto black card. The topper was attached on foam pads over the lace.

Three flowers were created from patterned paper in the same pack. They were die cut with Heartfelt Creations 'Arianna' dies, shaped and assembled with a black gemstone in the centre of each. Two leaves were die cut using Sweet Dixie's 'Pretty Petals' dies. They were inked in green, brown and orange to give an autumnal tone.

Well, that's all from me for today.
Hope you have a great weekend!

Please pop to over to Crafts Galore Encore to see the DT's wonderful designs.
We'd love to see your creations.
