* Vera Lane Studio: Sit and Think

Hello!

I have a card to share today. It uses a digi from Vera Lane Studio called Sit and Think. Sit and Think is a 3 digi bundle set, having two lovely, sitting girls, one with a flower eye and one without, and one sentiment.

It's a very simple card using a gelli print background that has acrylic paint bartered on. It has some black and white paint splatters applied. The edges of the gelli print are inked with Black Soot Distress Oxide. The lovely girl is coloured with Copics and has a few white Posca Pen highlights. She is fussy cut and attached on foam pads with some black and white washi to ground her. The sentiment is cut into strips, glued directly onto the background and outlined with a black fine line pen.

I hope you'll come along and play on Vera Lane.
It's such a friendly, fun place to be!

Thanks for stopping by today.

* Vera Lane Studio: Flower Crowns

Hello!

Well - winter has returned here in the UK! Yesterday we had hail and sleet along with strong gusts of wind ...  great weather for cosying up with a book or a good film, or even losing yourself in crafting!

Today is my Vera Lane Studio DT day and I've made cards with the Flower Crowns digi set which was released last week. The three images are totally adorable and the three sentiments are just lovely! To be honest I can't choose a favourite from these girls, so I made a set!

Here are my cards:

I went for a CAS style so the beautiful ladies can speak for themselves! I coloured the images with Copics and fussy cut them leaving a narrow white border. I placed them, on foam pads, onto  a piece of embossed white card and matted that on colour coordinating card. This was then matted onto white card which was in turn attached on foam tape, for dimension, to the 5 x 5 inch card base.
I found these gorgeous jewel-coloured mulberry paper flowers by Little Birdie at my local craft store and decided to add one to each card along with a leaf.

There was no room on the front for the lovely sentiments, so I added them on a colour coordinated mat to the inside of each card.

* Fairy Magic

Hello

I've been playing with stamps and ink again.  In my mind, I know what I want to create, I'm just having a few problems getting it onto card!

Anyhow, here is what I created:

My background was made using Brushos. I sprinkled some Alizarin Crimson, Lemon and Yellow Brusho pigments into separate wells on a palette and added water. Then using brushes I added splatters of each colour, drying in between applications, until the card was filled with colour. The edges were inked with Fired Brick and Black Soot and I added some hills using a Mountain and Valley stencil and Black Memento ink - this is definitely where I need more practice!

The Midnight Fairy stamp, from Inkylicious, was stamped and heat embossed. Some twig branches from the Cats on a Branch stamp set were added to each side of the background, along with some Bare Branches. Some Lavinia vines were added to the top of the card. The word 'Magic' from the Believe in Magic stamp was heat embossed in Gold.

Finally, I matted the card onto co-ordinating card stock and affixed to a 6 x 6 inch card  base.

That's all for today!

Thanks for stopping by.

* Vera Lane Studio: Bunny Kisses

Hello!

It's my DT day at Vera Lane Studio today and today sees the release of a new digi set called Bunny Kisses. This adorable digi bundle has three beautiful girl bunnies and a sweet graphic sentiment and is perfect for spring or Easter projects.

I made three cards - all with the same design, just different colours and, of course, a different digi on each. Here they are:

The bunnies were coloured with Copics and given Posca pen white highlights and Diamond Stickles glitter around their flower eye.  The background was made by using a mini Distressed Rectangle Polly Plate, which is similar to a mini gelli plate. I added Distress Oxides to the plate, spritzed with water and stamped the ink onto 300 gsm card. Once the ink was dry, I used a stitched rectangle die to cut the card out. I applied dots of Diamond Stickles around the edges of the ink.  On a separate piece of card, slightly larger than the stitched rectangle, I blended Distress Oxide, then used the smoosh, dab, dry technique to add more colour and texture. These coloured cards will be mats for the images.

The stitched rectangle was popped on foam tape and attached to the coloured  Distress Oxide background. The bunny was also popped on foam pads and placed onto the inky pattern, as was the die cut Bunny Kisses sentiment. The sentiments were inked to match the bunnies and the backgrounds. The Distress Oxide backgrounds were edged with Black Soot before being attached to the card base.

I hope you'll come along and play on Vera Lane.
It's such a friendly, fun place to be!

* Crafts Galore Encore: Cloud Angel

Hello!

We've had a run of beautiful, warm, sun-shiney days here in the NW England! The trees are blossoming, the daffodils are out, the grass is growing and it feels like spring has sprung!

This month at Crafts Galore Encore we have a new challenge and the challenge is always Anything Goes. We are delighted to be sponsored by Bugaboo Stamps who are offering a generous $12 gift code to our challenge winner.

Here is my DT card:

I used Kids Bella Cloud Angel and cut it using a stitched rectangle die. I coloured the image with Copics and added spots of Stickles Crystal glitter to the angel's wings, the clouds and the sky.
I made the square background by blending Distress Oxides in Victorian Velvet with  Seedless Preserves around the edges. The decorative square shape was made by the smoosh, dab, dry Distress Oxide technique and cut with a die. The outer edge was inked in a darker Dusty Concord Distress Oxide I layered the two backgrounds with paper doilies and attached them with foam tape. The image was placed on top also on foam tape for dimension.
I added a heart border to the bottom of the image, inking the edges to make them more prominent, and a banner die with the sentiment to the top. Some lavender pearls finish off the card.

Many thanks to Jodie at Bugaboo stamps for generously sponsoring this challenge. We hope you'll pop over to the shop and see the hundreds of wonderful stamps on sale.

Please pop to over to Crafts Galore Encore to see the DT's wonderful designs.

We'd love to see your creations.

Remember the challenge is always 'Anything Goes' and so you can create any type of project - it doesn't have to be a card.

Thanks for stopping by today!

* Colour Crazy Challenge: Super Dad

Hello!

I am delighted to be back as a Guest DT on the Colour Crazy Challenge blog for a further three months.

The challenge is always Anything Goes, but of course your card must feature some colouring: use any medium you wish. This week the fantastic Bugaboo Stamps is the sponsor.

I was lucky to receive a digi stamp to work with and I chose Super Dad. Here is my card:

My image was die cut and coloured with Copic markers. I replaced the die so that I could blend ink onto the stamp background - I used Memento Danube Blue and, on the edges, Nautical Blue. I love how keeping the die in place creates a crisp white border.
The background is two sheets of design paper, die cut with Sue Wilson Double Stitched Squares. I alternated the squares and attached them to a 6 x 6 cm card blank. I also die cut two banners which I attached on foam for dimension. The image was placed on top of the banners. I added a printed sentiment using the Baby Powder font from Vera Lane Studio. It was also cut with a stitched rectangle die and inked with blue to match the rest of the card. A red felt heart was attached to the top left hand corner.

Many thanks to Bugaboo Stamps for sponsoring this challenge.

I hope you'll find time to share your projects at the Colour Crazy Challenge

That's all from me for today!

* Gecko Galz: Bless This Nest

Hello!

March is here and the early signs of spring are everywhere. I love this time of year when the earth wakens up and the light intensifies - there's always a feeling of joy and hope.

The theme at the Gecko Galz blog this month is 'Bless This Nest' and I think that is so fitting for this time of year. The challenge will run until March 29th and the only rule is that you should use at lease one Gecko Galz product.

I made two cards for the Customer Challenge inspiration. One is a vintage stamp that I coloured and the other uses a collage sheet and a frame kit to make a cameo card.

Here they are. First my cameo card:

For this card, I used an image from the new Lovely Little Birds collage sheet and one of the new Vintage Frames. I cut the frame to the size I wanted and inked around the edge with Vintage Photo ink, blending some Fossilised Amber Distress Ink onto the white card, especially into the corner areas. I matted the frame onto green and then yellow card. The Little Bird was mounted onto black card and the frame placed on top with foam tape to allow some natural shadowing.
Some baker's twine was wound around the bottom of the card and a die cut, inked sentiment was attached to the side.

And here's my vintage stamp card:

This card feature a beautiful vintage stamp from The Little Birds stamp set. There are 25 gorgeous images in the set altogether and I'll be using more for my next Gecko Galz post on the 22nd March. I die cut the image with a stitched rectangle die and coloured it with Copic markers. When I was happy with the colouring I placed the die back onto the image and blended Memento ink to add colour to the background. Once the die is removed it leaves a nice, neat white border.
I decided to mat my image onto kraft card. I distressed the edges of the mat and inked them with Vintage Photo to give the edges more definition. I chose some design paper from my stash and inked the edges with VP. I matted that onto kraft card as well. Some jute string trim was attached along the left side of the paper and the mounted image was attached on foam tape. I added a sentiment from the Charming Words collage sheet which was also matted on distressed kraft card. Finally I found a wooden bird to add to the top left of my image.
