* Path of Positivity: Peace on Earth

Welcome to the December Path of Positivity Challenge.

Our challenge is always Anything Goes with an optional theme.

This month's option is to design a project that focuses on SHARING YOUR DREAMS FOR THE FUTURE.  

Honours and Prizes include:

• $6 worth of images from Scribbles Designs, for a person chosen in a random draw based on all qualifying entrants.
• A badge for the following honours: Top Pick, Voter's Choice, Most Inspirational, Random Winner, DT Delight.

 I made a card using die cut elements to share my dreams for the future. The sentiment says it all - I want Peace on Earth.

I used a selection of Sizzix (Tim Holtz) dies to make my little robin scene. I coloured card with Distress Oxides before die cutting the wreath and foliage, but as the bird is a layered die, I cut this from white card then coloured it to make it into robin. I splattered water over it to bleach out some colour and give it a few speckles. 

The sentiment was die cut using the Tiny Alphabet (the first time I have used this and it was a massive learning circle). I ended up using sticky back film on white card before die cutting the letters. I placed them onto a black background for dramatic effect.

* Vera Lane Studio: Holidee

 Hello

First of all, welcome to Janet K and Anke, my new followers. I am delighted to have you here.  :)

Today at Vera Lane Studio we have a new digi set release. It is the hilarious, cranky Miss Dee with her words of wisdom about the holiday season. The set is called HoliDEE.

I made a journal page:

Miss Dee's wonky smile might have something to do with what's decorating her tree :)

She has that look that says she'd rather be anywhere else on earth than visiting people.

I coloured the digis with Copics and fussy cut them. The background is a stamped, inky stencil with lots of white splatters and white embossing around the edges. I used the tiny 'joy' word stamp, from Janet's stamp, to stamp joy all over, along with the crosses from 'Background Noise'.

I set Miss Dee and her tree on some torn washi tape and one of the snarky sentiments from the set was cut into strips and adhered.

* GDT for Critter Crazy Challenges: Merry & Bright

 

Hello

I am delighted to have been asked to be guest designer at Critter Crazy Challenges. 

The Critter Crazy challenges are always Anything Goes, but MUST feature a creature (furry, feathered, scaly or insect; real or mythical). The challenges run from the 1st to the 25th of each month and winners are announced on the last day of the month.

I decided to use a new-to-me stamp set, called Field Day, from Card-io Stamps to make a winter scene.

Card-io is a family run, small business in the UK. They have been around for a number of years, but are a new discovery for me. I went to a craft fair a few weeks ago and watched the owner of the company demonstrating these northern lights scenes. I was smitten straight away.

I stamped the twiggy branch to make the wreath, then stamped the Field Day images. Next I masked and inked the sky and snow. Glamour Dust glitter was applied to the snow and the branches and chunky embossing enamel applied to represent snow. I added a sentiment from a different stamp set and a black and white gingham bow.

I literally could spend all day making these lovely little scenes.

* Crafts Galore Encore: Winter Birds

 Today sees that start of a new challenge at Crafts Galore Encore. 

The theme is always 'Anything Goes' and you can enter up to 3 different projects.  The challenge runs all month until mid day (GMT) 30th December.

This month's challenge is kindly sponsored by Leanne Seed from Gecko Galz who is giving the random winner a $25 Gecko Galz Etsy Store spend.

Here is my project using a beautiful image from the Nature's Winter collage set and papers from the Christmas in Nature ATC set and Dear Santa ATC set. The sentiment is from the new Let it Snow Sentiments pack.

The winter bird image was matted onto papers from Dear Santa ATC set and popped on a background made from one of the resized ATCs from Christmas in Nature. I used dark red paper for matting. I die cut a sentiment from the Let It Snow sentiment set, inked around the edges in Vintage Photo and tucked it under the die cut, inky foliage. I dyed 3 polystyrene balls with alcohol ink to represent berries and added some crystal glitter.

December is here and we have a new customer challenge at the Gecko Galz blog.  

The theme this month is Christmas Dreams.

We also have the 24 tags of Christmas, where each day leading up to Christmas Day we feature a different designer tag. Do pop over and take a look.

How beautiful is this image? It is from the 2022 January Kit Club called Sweet Love.

Simple matting and layering with patterned papers and some die cut foliage and a sparkly, die cut poinsettia. The Merry Christmas sentiment is a peel-off sticker sentiment - do you remember those?

* Path of Positivity: Winter

Welcome to the midway reminder for the November Path of Positivity Challenge.

Our challenge is always Anything Goes with an optional theme.

This month's option is to design a project that focuses on celebrating THE SIMPLE THINGS IN LIFE.

Honours and Prizes include:

• $6 worth of images from Scribbles Designs, for a person chosen in a random draw based on all qualifying entrants.
• A badge for the following honours: Top Pick, Voter's Choice, Most Inspirational, Random Winner, DT Delight.

 My project for today was inspired by the fabulous Tracy Evans, a stamp designer for AALL & Create. 

Tracy's video (which you can watch here) had me mesmerised and I decided to give her 'bauble technique' a try. 

I love the outdoors and though I'm not a fan of the cold weather, I love snowfall and countryside walks, so my Christmas bauble decoration is inspired by a simple woodland walk in winter time.

Inks are brayered onto the card to add colour to the background. The card is a one layer card, but gives the illusion of being three dimensional. This means that the card is flat and so is easy for mailing. You can see the techniques in Tracy's video.

Inside my bauble, I depicted a snowy, woodland scene with deer. The stamps I used are a mixture of Inkylicious, Lavinia and AALL & Create.

 The top of the bauble and the twine are doodled.
