Vera Lane Studio: Oaxacan Angels

Hello Crafty Friends!

Today I have some Vera Lane Studio projects to share. This is my third post.

I made this card for a friend who is going through a tough time:

I used the beautiful Oaxacan Angels set. The image is coloured with alcohol markers and fussy cut. The background was made by stamping and heat embossing with clear powder then inking with distress inks. Beautiful ivory lace was added along the top and bottom edges. The image was popped on foam pads and the sentiment inked and adhered directly onto the background.

I then made a Christmas card (my first this year!) with another angel from the same set:

Again the angel was coloured with alcohol markers and fussy cut. The background was made with Brushos and, when dry, was spritzed with Glimmer Mist. Some gold trim was added and the angel popped on foam pads. The star was heat embossed with gold powder.

I hope you'll come along and play on Vera Lane. It's such a friendly, fun place to be!

* Vera Lane Studio: Key Rings

Hello Crafty Friends!

Today I have some Vera Lane Studio projects to share. This is my second post.

I found some passport key rings at the local photography shop and immediately thought that they would be perfect for these quirky Vera Lane characters:

The images were coloured with markers and fussy cut. They were adhered onto watercolour paper which had been coloured by sprinkling Brusho Powders and spritzing with water.

* Vera Lane Studio: ATCs

Hello Crafty Friends!

Today I have some Vera Lane Studio projects to share.

I made a couple of ATCs following the Black and White with a Pop of Colour theme:

The backgrounds were made with acrylic paint and plastic wrap. I love the way they turned out.  Simply take some card, coat with gesso and let it dry. Spritz water over gessoed surface, add desired acrylic colour in blobs and use a paintbrush to spread and mix. The paint needs to be fluid, but quite thick - remember the more paint you use, the longer it takes to dry. Next lay plastic wrap over the painted card and push and crinkle the wrap into wrinkles all over. Allow the paint to dry thoroughly, preferably overnight, and then remove the wrap. (Here is a short video that I found online which shows the technique.)

The images are all coloured with alcohol pens and fussy cut.

The tree has some Nuvo Crystal Drops on the apples and the baby raccoon has Glossy Accent eyes and nose. A part sentiment was cut into strips and glued directly onto the background.  Washi tape was torn and used along the top and bottom edges. Green sticker gems were added in the corners and a white, hand drawn Posca pen border finishes the ATC off.

Raccoons                      Woodland Props                 The Foxes (sentiment)

I love the textured look to this background. Again I tore washi tape and used it along the edges as a border. The flowers are simply printed and fuss cut - no colouring here, but I added Glossy Accents to them. The cat has Glossy Accent eyes.

Cats and Crocks                  The Gardener

* Gecko Galz: Country Charm; Dragonflies and FarmYard Animals

Hello Crafty Friends!

Today I'm showing my May Gecko Galz samples.

This month our Customer Challenge  is Country Charm and these are my projects on this theme.

First up are my Dragonfly cards.

The images are from the Darling Dragonflies collage sheet and the background paper is Courtly Splendour from the Tudor Rose Collection.
The images were cut out and matted onto black card. The patterned paper was matted onto black card too. I always ink the edges of the papers and images so that no white edges show and also it pulls the colours together.
Before the paper was adhered to the card base, lace was added and attached at the back with double sided tape.  The sentiments are from the Charming Words set - these were cut out and inked in Vintage Photo distress ink.

The dragonfly embellishment is made from one of the Darling Dragonflies images. It was fussy cut from card and the edges inked. Then it was heat embossed with clear powder to make it glossy and stronger. A silver coloured dragonfly charm was also added on the lacy border.

Some ink-dyed cheesecloth was added beneath the 'Beauty' sentiment on this card. The dragonfly has holographic glitter applied to it's body.

Here are the products I used:

Darling Dragonflies                    Tudor Rose                          Charming Words

Next are my farmyard notelets:

These were super quick and easy to make!

They are simply collage sheet images, matted onto black card and mounted onto some of my favourite Gecko Galz patterned paper (Jungle Fever from the Isla Bonita pack)  which is also mounted onto black card.  I find that layering onto black card really makes the colours pop.  Before adhering onto the card base, I wrapped some baker's twin around the patterned paper and tied a bow.

Country Charm                  Sunnybrook Farm               Isla Bonita Paper Pack

I also made two vintage flower and butterfly cards which you can read about here:

I hope you'll join our 'Country Charm' challenge. The winner gets a whopping $25 shopping spree at the Gecko Galz shop.

   xxxxx
The only rule is that you must use at least one Gecko Galz product (this can be one of the freebies, so check back through the blog and also look at the freebies on the Pinterest page, or of course you can buy at the Etsy store! All are great value for money.)
Also if you sign up for the Gecko Galz newsletter, you'll be able to claim a free collage sheet each month.

Please hop over to the Gecko Galz blog to see the fabulous designs by the very talented DT.

We also have a Private Facebook Group where there are  monthly challenges, each with a collage sheet prize. Come and join us!

I'll be back on the 1st of June with more Gecko Galz projects.

* {Pin}spirational Challenges: Mother and Baby

Hello!

Today is the start of a new challenge at

{PIN}spirational Challenges.

Challenge #191 runs for 2 weeks until 5th June.

Here is the lovely inspiration photo:

I used a beautiful Conie Fong digital stamp called Mother and Baby Boy.

I love how the stamp is almost the same as the inspiration image!
I coloured the image with markers and used a stitched rectangle die to cut it out. I decided to build my card with layers of kraft and white cardstock, so I die cut a larger stitched rectangle out of kraft card and embossed it as a mat for the image. White spotty embossed card and plain kraft card was also used. The flowers and leaves were die cut, shaped and attached with jumbo pearls.

hope you'll pop over to
to check out the gorgeous designs by the rest of the DT.

We would love for you to take part in the challenge!

Thanks for stopping by today.

* Vera Lane Studio: Girls on the Block Planner Clips and Bookmarks

Hello Crafty Friends!

I have a second Vera Lane Studio post today!

This time I made some jumbo paper clips, suitable for a planner, and some bookmarks using the Girls on the Block digital set.

These girls are so much fun and very versatile...imagine them in one of the Vera Lane windows...

So, these digis come with instructions. They are super easy to colour and fussy cut - notice the thick black borders. There is no need to flip the images so that you have a front and back, as this is already done for you ... just size them to suit your needs and print!

Once coloured and cut, I ran a black marker pen around the edge of the back side of each digital, so if my cutting was a bit wonky, the black would camouflage this.

To assemble, I simply used a small piece of double sided tape to adhere the paperclip or bookmark, then applied glue sparingly, making sure to go right to the edges of the digis, and stuck them together. My bookmarks are made from gelli printed card, the pink one has some holographic embossing. I rounded the corners and inked the edges.

I hope you'll come along and play on Vera Lane. It's such a friendly, fun place to be!
