Hello!
November brings another Anything Goes challenge at Crafts Galore Encore.
We also have a DT call, so please check out the blog post here if you are interested - previous experience is not necessary.
The sponsor this month is the fabulous Beccy's Place who are offering the winner a $10 AU store voucher.
Beccy kindly gave the DT some images to work with. She also has a host of free black and white and pre-coloured images on her blog for you to use, as well as some wonderful card fold tutorials, so why not head over and see all the fabulous stuff she has!
Beccy is also hosting the seventh annual 'Month of Holiday Cards Challenge' throughout the month of November - a jolly good way to get cracking on your Christmas cards!

Beccy is also hosting the seventh annual 'Month of Holiday Cards Challenge' throughout the month of November - a jolly good way to get cracking on your Christmas cards!
Here is my project:
It's November, so I went with making a Christmas card. I used a FREE digi stamp from Beccy's Place called Cardinal and Holly. I coloured the image with Copic markers and added some white highlights and dots. I saw Beccy's card where she had placed dots around the bird and tried it for myself. I cut the image with a Cottage Cut stitched rectangle die and matted it onto shimmery red card.
I made the background using Paperartsy Infusions (Emerald Isle) through a stencil (Flowers Galore - That's Crafty). I love the result! I inked the edges of the background in black ink and matted it onto red card. Next I popped the matted image on foam tape onto the background, printed a sentiment, matted it and adhered it to the base. A single, large poinsettia was added as embellishment.
Many thanks to Beccy at Beccy's Place for generously sponsoring and supporting this challenge. We hope you'll pop over to the shop to see the many lovely products on sale.
We'd love to see your creations.
Remember the challenge is always 'Anything Goes' and so you can create any type of project - it doesn't have to be a card.
Thanks for stopping by today!
xoxo

A gorgeous card Carole. Lovely background, poinsettia and image xx
ReplyDeleteYou've combined two of my favourite Christmastime subjects Carole... cardinals and poinsettias! I love the rich reds and sparkles of green glitter you added to the background. You've done an awesome job colouring the image, I like the addition of the white pen in a few areas to highlight certain features. Good on you for trying a new technique too, the dots around the bird look fabulous and add lots of lovely texture.
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Beccy

ReplyDeleteCarole, I had to stop by to tell you how absolutely gorgeous this card is! And I want/need to know what kind of white pen do you use? I have a Sakura white Gelly Roll pen and Sharpie white paint markers, and neither of them yield the crisp white lines and dots like yours does. So beautiful!

Leslie

Hi Leslie! Thanks for your lovely words. The pen I use is a white Posca Paint pen - it comes in various sizes and I use the 0.7mm bullet tipped for dashes and dots and any of the larger ones for shaking to produce paint splatters over backgrounds. They come in all colours. xx
DeleteThanks so much for that info... will have a look! :)
