* Vera Lane Studio: Seagulls

It's my DT day at Vera Lane Studio and we have a brand new digi set release called Seagulls

I love these crazy birds and their wilful expressions. In real life, I find them to be crazy-scary, but such fun to watch and I love hearing their cries and squawks at the seaside.

I made a journal page with two of them, standing on the wooden groynes, and one of the sentiments:

I coloured the images with my Copic markers and added a few white Posca pen highlights. Once fussy cut they were put aside while I made the background.  I stamped the Crashing Waves stamp from AALL & Create with Versamark and heat embossed with white powder. I then used various Distress Oxides spritzed with water, and smooshed the stamped background into it to pick up colour. White paint splatters were added. I doodled a border and added some black circles using the Roundly stamp. I made two cuts in the waves to slot the wooden stumps through. The seagulls were adhered on top of the stumps and the sentiment cut into strips and adhered.

This sentiment makes me smile!
Once I was at the seaside (minding my own business, sitting on a bench on a pier and enjoying the fresh air and scenery) eating a sandwich for lunch when a huge seagull swooped down and stole the whole thing. Maybe that's why I find them scary now :)

That's all for now.

I hope you'll come along and play on Vera Lane. It's such a friendly, fun place to be!

  5. Fabulous card, Carole. Your card made me laugh at loud. We were at the seaside a few weeks ago and had just bought some ice creams from an ice cream van. My hubby was holding both ice creams while I paid, when a seagull swooped down and took one right out of his hand! It gave all the people nearby a good laugh. šŸ¤£ xx

    1. Oh my goodness, Liz - they are powerful birds - you wouldn't want to deny them the ice cream :) xx

  6. Love your page Carole! Those are two sharp seagulls.
    Your seagull story is quite scary. They are big birds and can be quite intimidating.
    Hugs Monica
