* Vera Lane Studio: Virgo

Hello

It's my DT day at Vera Lane Studio and today I have another tag in my zodiac series. This time it is the turn of Virgo.

Isn't she beautiful!
I coloured her with Copics and finished with Polychromo pencil. She was fussy cut and popped on 3D tape. The background was heat embossed in white with an AALL & Create stamp, then smooshed into puddles of Distress Oxides. Some tone on tone stamping was added along with white splatters and finally some black stamping around the edges. I also added some die cut leaves and a taffeta ribbon.

Here are some close ups:

That's all for now.

I hope you'll come along and play on Vera Lane. It's such a friendly, fun place to be!

* Vera Lane Studio: Cute Couple

Hello

It is my DT day at Vera Lane Studio and I have a journal page to share featuring the new digi set released today. It is called Cute Couple.

This love struck pair are simply adorable. I coloured them with Copic markers and Polychromo pencils and fussy cut them. I made a background using inks and a stencil, then I added crackle paste through an AALL & Create stencil to replicate waves and water. I added some stamping and heat embossing  and quite like the way it turned out.

That's all for now.

I hope you'll come along and play on Vera Lane. It's such a friendly, fun place to be!

Gecko Galz: Myths & Legends 2

  Hello

We're heading towards the end of August and today is my DT day at Gecko Galz.
Our customer challenge, on the blog, is Myths and Legends and my projects are based on this theme.

The winner of the Customer challenge will get a $25 Gecko Galz Etsy Store voucher and the runner up a $12 voucher. There are plenty of free Gecko Galz images if you don't already own any. Each blog post has a free image to collect and, if you sign up for the monthly newsletter, there is the chance to claim a free collage set each month.  Also if you make any purchase of $2 or more you receive a free image.
We also have the monthly Image Challenge, the monthly Christmas Image Challenge, the monthly Stamp Challenge, a Steampunk challenge and a Gothic Challenge on the blog, as well as 4 Facebook challenges.
We hope you can find some time to join in the fun.

I altered the cover of a hardback notebook. I used the lovely paper from the King Arthur Junk Journal  Kit - I know now that I will use this paper time and time again!

I left the spine of the notebook in the original kraft card.. I decorated the front with an image of Quinevere from the King Arthur Junk Journal  Kit. I matted it onto a scalloped die cut kraft frame and inked around the edges with Vintage Photo. I made a banner wrap from die cuts to wrap around the spine and house the vintage style alpha stickers which read 'notes'.

Here is a close up of the lovely image on the front.

I made a notecard with a simple greeting that says 'smile'.

I used the same lovely paper from the King Arthur Junk Journal  Kit , using kraft card for die cut accents and mats. I had some pretty patterned paper in peach orange that I used as it matched the colours in the image. This gorgeous image is of the Lady of Shalott and she comes from the King Arthur Junk Journal  Kit as well.

I also made a triptych booklet, using a 3D embossing folder and Distress Oxide inks to create the stone bases.
The details of this can be found on my previous blogpost here.

The book can be opened and displayed like this:

That's all for now!
I hope you'll join our Myths and Legends challenge where the winner will get a $25 shopping spree at the Gecko Galz shop.

The only rule is that you must use at least one Gecko Galz product (this can be one of the freebies or, of course, you can buy at the Etsy store!) Also if you sign up for the Gecko Galz newsletter, you'll be able to claim a free collage sheet each month and get first claim on the monthly $1 deals!

Please pop over to the Gecko Galz blog to see the fabulous designs by the very talented DT.

We also have a friendly Facebook Group where there are 4 monthly challenges, each with a collage sheet prize.
Do come and join us!

I'll be back on the 1st September with more Gecko Galz projects.

* Vera Lane Studio: Time to Party

 Hello

It's my DT day at Vera Lane Studio and I have made a couple of ATCs using a recently released digi set called Time to Party.

The set contains 4 quirky characters, a table with a cake, a clock and also a sentiment.

I coloured the characters with Copic markers and fussy cut around them leaving a thin white border. The backgrounds are blended Distress Oxides over-stamped with AALL & Create A7 background stamps and heat embossed in white. The characters were popped on 3D tape for some dimension and Stickles was added to their eye flowers and the candles for some sparkle.

That's all for now.

I hope you'll come along and play on Vera Lane. It's such a friendly, fun place to be!

 Hello

It's my DT day at Vera Lane Studio and I have made  journal page with today's new release, Spa Day:

This little cutie is having a most relaxing day. I made her background with an AALL & Create stencil and distress oxides then I heat embossed some swirls, with a PaperArtsy stamp, to represent steam tendrils. I coloured the images with Copics.

* Path of Positivity: Dreams and Wishes

 Hello

Welcome to the August Path of Positivity Challenge.

Our challenge is always Anything Goes with an optional theme.

This month's option is to design a project that focuses on celebrating YOUR CREATIVE SELF by making something special just for you.

Honours and Prizes include:
  • $6 worth of images from Scribbles Designs, for a person chosen in a random draw based on all qualifying entrants.
  • A badge for the following honours: Top PickVoter's ChoiceMost InspirationalRandom WinnerDT Delight.
I have a thousand projects (slight exaggeration) that I would like to make, but I decided that since we had a break in July, I would make the effort to visit and make some purchases from a craft store that has been on my wish list for a long time; the beautiful Lavinia Stamp shop in Ruthin, North Wales. It was everything I had hoped it would be - a magical kingdom selling not only beautiful craft goodies, but lovely stationery, home and garden decor, bath and beauty products and what's more, I visited on an Open Day, so the talented Tracy and her design team were demonstrating. I was in crafting heaven!
The only problem (and I'm sure most of you will know this feeling) was that I wanted it all - stamps, stencils, inks, pens, speciality papers, the lot - I not only wanted it, I needed it :) Sadly, my bank balance said different, but I came away with several stamps, a new stencil, some lovely mystical mica sprays, some juicy inks and several glitter gel pens. I was very content.

So my just-for-me project is a result of my visit and having a play with some of these new-to-me Lavinia items. I made a piece which I popped into a frame to sit on my bedside table. (We are in the process of redecorating and have gone with a beautiful, deep emerald green colour scheme.)

I used my new Elements inks to add colour to the back of the Laurel Stencil and made a mono print which I then cut using a circle die. This was the background for my little fairy, stamp, Rory. I made a moon by using a circle mask and inking around the edges. The ground was made by inking with a piece of torn paper as the mask. I added lots of tiny bits of foliage stamps, including the new Wild Summer Flower, Lavender and Leaf Creepers. I also added some Posca pen orbs and some white paint splatters, as well as Lime Green Stickles for some sparkle.
The background was inked with Elements and bleached with water splatters. I then stencilled over using the Laurel stencil again. White acrylic paint splatters were generously applied. I matted onto white and black card.  The sentiment is heat embossed.

Here is a close up, I should have photographed before I framed it, as there is glare from the glass, but I was excited to get the project completed.😀

We would love to see your creations!
Just make sure that your entry is positive, inspirational, motivational or encouraging in some way!
