* Vera Lane Studio: The Fairy House

Hello

We've had another glorious, sunny week here in the NW of England. I love the hot, sunny weather, but the garden is suffering and Casey, my almost all-black cat, is definitely feeling under the weather, seeking shade wherever he can.

Today is my DT day over at Vera Lane Studio and today I have a card I made using The Fairy House digi set.

I made a background from blended distress inks in Peacock Blue, Mustard Seed and Crushed Olive. I added some stencilling and stamping and inked the edges with Black Soot Distress Oxide. The images are coloured with Copic markers and fussy cut. Glossy Accents were added to the fairy's eyes and the toadstool's spots and windows. I had problems cutting the fairy's hat at the curved tip, so I placed it over a white spot on the toadstool to disguise the less than perfect fussy cutting. I grounded the toadstool by placing it on a strip of green washi tape.

I hope you'll come along and play on Vera Lane. It's such a friendly, fun place to be!

Thanks for stopping by today.
xoxo

* Vera Lane Studio: That Girl

Hello!

Today at Vera Lane Studio there is a new release! It's a gorgeous digi set, called That Girl, featuring the cutest little girl.

Here is what I made:

I used distress inks (Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade and Picked Raspberry) applied with a blending tool for the background and stencilled over in the same colours. I next stamped some text and marks and inked the edges in black. I added some washi tape to ground my character and added a few extra pieces along the side edges too. The images were coloured with Copic markers and fussy cut. They are popped on foam pads for dimension. I cut up one of the quotes into strips, inked the edges and adhered it directly to the card.

I hope you'll come along and play on Vera Lane. It's such a friendly, fun place to be!

Thanks for stopping by today.

* Crafts Galore Encore: Bee Happy

Hello!

June is here already and of course a new month brings a new challenge at the Crafts Galore Encore challenge blog.

The theme is always Anything Goes and we would love to see your crafty makes.

This month we are kindly sponsored by Sparkle n Sprinkle who are offering a $15 store voucher to the winner!

Here is the card I made:

I used elements from the Honey Bees digi stamp set. I decided to print the .png image on some digital bee paper from Teacher Yanie on Deviant Art. The image was coloured with Copic markers and matted onto black card. The background paper was also matted on black paper. I die cut a banner for the 'Create a Buzz' sentiment and die cut a scalloped square for the 'Sweeter than Honey' sentiment. I also coloured some of the individual bees and applied glossy accents to their bodies and glitter to their wings.

Many thanks to Sprinkle N Sparkle for sponsoring this challenge and offering a $15 shop voucher for the winner.

I hope you'll pop to over to Crafts Galore Encore to see the DT's wonderful designs.
We'd love to see your creations.

Remember the challenge is always 'Anything Goes' and so you can create any type of project - it doesn't have to be a card.

Thanks for stopping by today!

* Gecko Galz: Retro Summer

Hello!

Welcome to June!

A new month means a new customer challenge  at the Gecko Galz blog and the theme for June is Retro Summer

Who doesn't love retro?
So grab your crafty stash and join the challenge with the chance to win $25 in the Gecko Galz Etsy store.

Here are my Retro Summer inspiration projects.
First up is a Hawaiian themed card:

This is such a beautiful image and one that reminds me of the gorgeous islands and the aloha spirit.
The image is from the newly released Aloha collage sheet and I teamed it with paper from the new First Class Passage paper pack. Both the image and background paper were matted onto black card then white card. I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment 'Aloha' onto black paper and matted it onto white card. Some flower trim was added across the bottom section of the card and tiny flat back pearls add some dimension to the flower centres. I used teal green card for my card base.

Next, I made two drink mats or coasters.

I used beer mats as the base for these and simply resized the images from the Retro Yum collage sheet. I inked the edges of the images with Vintage Photo and adhered them to the beer mat. To make the mats waterproof, I applied two coats of clear, matt acrylic varnish.
I love how quick and simple these were to make and adore their retro feel.

That's all from me for now!

I hope you'll join our 'Retro Summer' challenge where the Winner will get
$25 shopping spree
at the Gecko Galz shop.

The only rule is that you must use at least one Gecko Galz product ...
(this can be one of the freebies or, of course, you can buy at the Etsy store!)
Also if you sign up for the Gecko Galz newsletter, you'll be able to claim a free collage sheet each month and get first claim on the $1 Wednesday deals!

Please pop over to the Gecko Galz blog to see the fabulous designs by the very talented DT.

We also have a Private Facebook Group where there are 4 monthly challenges, each with a collage sheet prize. Come and join us!

I'll be back on the 12th with more Gecko Galz projects.
