Winter Cottage

 Hello

I made a winter scene using some Inkylicious stamps and Distress Oxides. 

I blended Distress Oxides to create the winter sky, using a torn piece of paper to mask the ground. I splattered some water to bleach out some colour, then stamped the Tall Pine Trees.

The Winter Cabin was stamped and some snow mounds made, again using torn paper as a mask to create shadows for the snow banks. Extra trees were added around the cottage and some foreground wintery twigs (Bare Branches).

White paint splatters were added as falling snow and some silver glitter gel pen was used to highlight the snow on the cottage and trees.

Vera Lane Studio: Bright Day

 Hello

Today is my DT day at Vera Lane Studio and we have a new digi set release called Bright Day. It has 9 digis, including a very cute girl, 2 birds, 2 clouds, 3 flowers and a sentiment.

I made a journal page:

The background is brayered PaperArtsy Fresco Paints which have been stamped over with white acrylic, spritzed with water, and a stencil (#39 Lotza Dotz).. I added some watercolour pencils to outline some of the stencilled circles in the background. I also added some white paint splatters with a Posca pen and some stamping, using Janet's # 338 Background Noise and #494 X or O, and concentrating on the edges. I inked around the edges in black.

The images are coloured with Copic markers and fussy cut. I love the flowers in this set - they remind me very much of the collage fodder which is popular right now. Some torn washi tape, #21 Beachrock, acts as grounding for my characters.

Path of Positivity: Childhood Memories

Hello

 Welcome to the March Path of Positivity Challenge.

Our challenge is always Anything Goes with an optional theme.

This month's option is to design a project that focuses on celebrating something special about our childhood.

Honours and Prizes include:

• $6 worth of images from Scribbles Designs, for a person chosen in a random draw based on all qualifying entrants.
• A badge for the following honours: Top Pick, Voter's Choice, Most Inspirational, Random Winner, DT Delight.

Here is my project. I am remembering when I had rabbits as pets, but also the fact that I was always a neat and tidy girly-girl and was dressed in lovely frocks by my mum. I didn't like to get dirty and would often go home to wash my hands when playing out. Yes ... OCD and a tiny bit neurotic are words that I would use to describe myself now :) However, my childhood was a happy one and I always had pets, mainly guinea pigs, rabbits, cats, chickens and goldfish. (Unlike my sister; she had a goat!)

The background is brayered PaperArtsy acrylic paint. I added some stencilled heat embossing and some white paint splatters. I die cut three daisies from the Sizzix Wildflower Stems #1 and watercolored them with Distress Inks. I also die cut the Carrot Bunny and fixed it so that he is holding one of the daisies. My Tim Holtz paper doll is 'me' in my frilly frock. I gave myself wings! The sentiment is a Small Talk sticker.

Vera Lane Studio: Aries

 

Hello

Welcome to my new follower InnyHenny Meijer.  I am delighted to have you here!

It is my DT day at Vera Lane Studio and I have made a tag, the third one in my zodiac series, with last week's digi set release, Aries.

She is so cute! I coloured her with Copic markers and fussy cut her. She is popped on foam tape for dimension and has cheesecloth beneath her.

The background was inked with Distress Oxides and triple heat embossed with white embossing powder and an AALL & Create stamp by Bipasha called Celestial Navigation. I added white and gold paint splatters and edged the tag with gold acrylic paint. I also added some die cut and embossed gold stars, made using a Sizzix Impresslit folder by Tim Holtz..

Today sees that start of a new challenge at Crafts Galore Encore. 

The theme is always 'Anything Goes' and you can enter up to 3 different projects The challenge runs all month until mid day (GMT) 30th March.

Here is my project using Tulip Border: 

I coloured the tulips with Copic markers and popped them onto a black mat. I added ribbon around the bottom edge of the mat and used a polka dot, patterned paper background. I love how the reds and black pop.

I am back to tell you about a new challenge we are running at the Gecko Galz blog.

 It is a challenge using vintage digital stamps. The stamp is free to collect on the blog here.

This month the image is an adorable bunny and the challenge is colouring and making an Easter project. The winner will be randomly drawn and will win a Gecko Galz stamp set

I made a card with my coloured image:

Isn't the bunny sweet. He's loving being in the strawberry field. 

I resized the vintage image to 4.5 square inches and printed it out.  The left hand side background is not as dark as the right and I attempted to remedy this slightly by colouring over the 'black' parts with dark grey markers. I then used Copic markers to colour the floral background, deliberately leaving some white patches. 

I added some white Posca pen highlights to the leaves and strawberries. I decided to keep the bunny as a white rabbit and used pale and mid grey Copics only, plus a subtle pink for his nose and ears. Again parts were left white and I used the blender to fade out the grey into the white areas.

I finished by matting the image with several black and white mats and popped it onto a pre-made 6 inch card base.

It's March, the month that heralds the arrival of Springtime, and at Gecko Galz our new customer challenge is 

Birds and Bees.

We also have the monthly Image Challenge and the monthly Christmas Image Challenge, as well as 4 Facebook challenges.

I made a couple of bright and cheerful cards:  

The first uses an image from the new Butterflies and Bees collage set and papers from the Honey Honey ATC set, along with a perfect sentiment from the Spring Time Sentiments digital stamp set. The papers were resized to fit m card and matted onto black card. The image and papers are quite busy, so the only embellishment I needed was a die cut crochet border in gold. 

The second card has a fabulous, colourful bird and bee image from the What's The Buzz collage set. I teamed it with paper depicting bees from the Honey Honey ATC set and another beautiful sentiment from the Spring Time Sentiment stamp set. This time I added some gold stickers - do you remember those - I've had them in my stash for decades, so it was nice to put some to use here!
