Hello!
It's cold and snowy here in the NW of England. I hope that wherever you are, you are warm and safe! It's perfect crafting weather, though, isn't it?
It's time for a new challenges at the Gecko Galz blog. Our February Customer Challenge theme is Moonlight and Magic. All you have to do to enter is to make a project which follows the theme and features at least one Gecko Galz product.
For this challenge I decided to make a shaker card.
Here it is:
It's very sparkly in real life!
I used an image from the Moonbeams collage sheet. Once printed, I fussy cut the moon and the couple, adding a little extra to the moon to finish it off. I inked the moon with Mustard Seed Distress ink to give it a little more colour. I made a galaxy background using various blue and purple Distress Oxides using the smoosh, dab, dry technique. Once I was happy with how it looked I inked around the edges in Black Soot. Next I added splatters of white, black and gold paint. The image was then glued onto the background and glitter sticker strips were used to replicate swing chains. I also added some die cut gold stars and tiny dot stickers as stars.
The shaker element top was made from embossed white card, die cut to make an aperture window. Acetate film was sandwiched between the card frame and double foam tape which makes the sidewall of the shaker element. This was set aside to dry completely.
The background to the shaker is gold textured card, matted onto black card and attached to a blank white card base.
A selection of sequins and beads were chosen, placed onto the image and the shaker top was glued into place.
I decided to add some gold, wavy line stickers around the shaker top. The sentiment is from the Simply Sentimental set and was die cut and placed onto a slightly larger gold star and attached to the acetate.
