* Gecko Galz: Dragon's Roar

Hello

Every month over at the Gecko Galz blog we have the monthly free image challenges, as well as the main blog challenge, posted on the first day of each month..

There is a monthly card challengethe monthly Christmas Image challenge, the Fantasy challenge, the monthly ATC challenge,  a Gothic Challenge and Steampunk challenge. These can be accessed by the tabs at the top of the main blog page and you are able to download the FREE image there.

We also have the quarterly challenge. and 4 Facebook challenges.

Today is a rainy day, so I thought I'd have a go with this month's free Fantasy image challenge which is a gorgeous dragon. I decided to make my project interactive :)

Here is what I made:

I had some left over painted card from a previous project (the 'Ocean Life' shaker booklet) which was in colours suitable for the dragon background, so I used those. I die cut a 3 3/4 inch circle upon which I mounted the dragon. I used a piece of brayered, painted card for the background and added the alpha stickers to spell 'roar' as well as some sparkly, light purple gemstones..

The dragon was fussy cut from it's background and inked around the edges. I made a cut along his jaw line and adhered the two parts to a clothes peg. I tried to camouflage the peg by colouring with Copics, his mouth being coloured in red, and the ends of the peg above his head in mauve..

Here he is roaring:

And finally here's a short video to show how he roars:

We hope you can find some time to join in the fun.

* Gecko Galz: Bejewelled Tag

 Hello

Every month over at the Gecko Galz blog we have six monthly free image challenges which an be accessed by the tabs at the top of the main blog page and you are able to download the FREE image there.

We also have the main blog challenge, posted on the first day of each month), a quarterly challenge. and 4 Facebook challenges.

A new challenge has recently started on the Gecko Galz Facebook Business Page. This is a tag challenge and a new free image is given each month. This month it is a gorgeous, mysterious girl and, as the weather has turned dismal today, I thought I'd have a go with this month's free tag image.

Here is what I made:

I die cut the largest tag, using  kraft card, from the Tim Holtz Sizzix Tag Collection die set. I adhered black mesh trim over the entire tag as this mimics the webbing on the girl's skin. Next I added gold mesh down the centre of the tag. The image was printed, distressed along all edges and 2 die cut, crochet lace edges (Sizzix die) were attached to the sides. I added circle dot trim to the top and bottom edges of the photo then glued on turquoise gems. The whole image piece was adhered on foam for dimension and I added some light taupe, scalloped lace trim below the top and bottom of the raised image. An eyelet was placed over the tag hole and some black mesh threaded through. Three larger gems were randomly added to the background and some Crystal Stickles added to the girl's eyelids, lips and rings.

We hope you can find some time to join in the fun.

It's my DT day today, so here is what I made:

A set of fun tags made from a die cut rectangle of kraft card.
I inked the edges with Vintage Photo ink and added Oriental backgrounds (digitally enlarged) from the Ancient Splendour Domino collage sheet. I distressed the edges of the background images and chose some fun images from the Far East Fun Digital Kit and fussy cut them. Some ivory lace and some natural trim were added along with a shop bought flower from Little Birdie Crafts. I used a crop-a-dile to make a hole and add an eyelet then threaded twine through.

I made a couple of cards:

These just use paper from the Asian Botanicals paper pack - no embellishments at all - and they are, I think, beautiful. I simply matted the paper onto red and then black card and popped them onto a white card base.
Then, I decided to add a couple of fussy cut images, one freom the Ancient Splendour Domino collage sheet and one from the Far East Fun Digital Kit:

I also made a couple of cards using the stunning Asian Doll images using traditional Japanese hand made Yuzen paper.

I used black card to mat the images and the paper and it really makes the colours pop. I added glossy butterflies and a black and gold sentiment.

* Conjurer of Dreams: Mystical Creatures

Hello

Today I'm sharing some projects I made using Conjurer of Dreams images. I hope you'll pop over to the store and take a look at the Digital Art on sale for collage, scrapbooks, journals, cards and more.

The theme this month in the Facebook Group is Mystical Creatures.

Here is what I made:

It's a mini accordion book featuring the beautiful Unicorn Magic set.
I made a three fold accordion and a folder wallet for the cover. I brayered paint on both sides of the card, then embossed in iridescent glitter powder and white glitter powder. Lots of white paint splatters were added and the edges of the card were inked in black.

I cut an aperture in the front cover and used circle dies to make a narrow circular frame.

Each page has an image, a sentiment (which is a lesson from a unicorn), some silver trim and some gems.
Here is the three fold accordion:

And here is the back side of the accordion:

The following photo is not the best, due to it being a cloudy day, but was taken from above and shows the structure of the booklet.

I made a short video.
I'm not sure why you have to turn your head at 90 degrees to your body to watch it, though :) , and please excuse the pile of old books propping up my ipad.. I need lessons in making videos!

Next, I decided to start a Conjurer of Dreams mini journal where I will place any post cards that I make.

Here are the first pair, featuring the gorgeous Steampunk Forest Animals set 2:

I used a stencil and Brusho Powders (Turquoise and Lime Green) to create the background with lots of white paint splatters. The images are matted onto Brusho painted card and some die cut wild flower stems were added along with a funky circle die cut. The sentiments are from Idea-ology.

Because I love these images so much, here is a couple of close ups:

And here is what they look like in my journal:

I decided to use repositional tape to adhere them int he journal, that way if I need one to make a quick card they can be removed and popped onto a card base.

And then I used the Quirky Beast Plaid set to make another two post cards:

Again I used a stencil for the background and used the 'stamping with a stencil' method to apply the Distress Oxide inks to the background. White, green and yellow paint splatters were applied and some black stamping around the edges. I added a die cut grass edge and a flower anlong with a snarky sentiment.

And here they are in my journal:
