CAS - Peacock Feather Colours

Hello friends!

Maybe it's just me, but I really struggle with CAS cards!

I made this one as a Thank You card for a friend.
The challenge at Less is More this week is to use Peacock Feather colours. I haven't played along for a while, so I thought I would have another try.

This is what I came up with:

My colours are more muted than actual peacock feather colours. I felt this was more in keeping with the style and the image on my card.
I used Inkilicious art card and stamps. The grasses were stamped and heat embossed with WOW clear powder. Then I used ink dusters and a blending tool to apply the various inks (Peacock Feathers, Crushed Olive, Bamboo Shoots, Rosebud, Lilac Roses). The image was adhered on foam pads and the Paper Smooches sentiment was stamped directly onto the card in Ranger Jet Black archival ink.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Please consider adding your name to my blog candy draw here.

xoxo

I'd like to play along in these challenges:

Trick or Treat

Hello!

A special hello to my newest follower, Tracy Welham!

I made this cute Halloween card for the September Colour Challenge at the Gecko Galz Facebook group.
Black and Orange are the colours to use.

The lovely little trick or treat girl image is from the Spooktacular collage sheet from Gecko Galz. She was fussy cut leaving a thin white border and attached on foam pads. A second image had the black cat cut out and decoupaged on top of the original image.

The background is made from distress inks (Spiced Marmalade, Mustard Seed and Vintage Photo) blended together. Droplets of water were applied and blotted to give a water splashed effect. Then the pattern was stamped in Ranger Jet Black ink using a Dylusions Basic Backgrounds stamp. The card was matted onto black card and a thin banner made which was attached on foam pads along the bottom.

The branches and tree were die cut from black card. It is a section of the Bird on a Branch die by Marianne Designs. The sentiment was printed and die cut with a small scalloped square, the edges were inked and it was added on foam pads.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Sunflower Sprite: GDT for Crafty Boots

Hello crafty friends!

Today I'm delighted to be sharing a card I made as Guest DT for Crafty Boots Challenges.

The theme is "You are my Sunshine" and you can make any project you like - it doesn't have to be a card, using whatever materials and supplies you prefer.
The challenge is open until 12 noon GMT on 11th Sept.
I hope that you'll join in the fun!

I was Challenge Winner at Come and Get It and I got a Top 3 Award at Crafting With an Attitude

Also I was Designer's Choice at Cute as A Button.

I used the beautiful Sunflower Sprite from Aurora Wings.

I coloured the sprite with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers, then fussy cut him leaving a thin white border. He is mounted on foam pads onto a Spellbinders Label which has been inked in Mustard Seed and Spiced Marmalade. The die was left in place whilst the inking was done and this left a crisp white border.

The background paper is from Trim Craft. It has a thin yellow ribbon wound around twice on the left hand side with some paper flowers and foliage. The flowers were made with a Heartfelt Creations Majestic Blooms Die; they were colour washed in Mustard Seed and Spiced Marmalade, then shaped and a grey pearl was added to the centre of each one. The foliage is from the Sweet Dixie Pretty Petals die set and was colour washed in Bamboo Leaves and Crushed Olive. Natural dried flowers from Anna Marie Designs were added too.

A small X-Cut tag has the Tim Holtz's chitchat words 'you are my',  and the word 'Sunshine' was die cut 4 times and glued one on top of each other, and inked in Mustard Seed.

I'd like to thank the Crafty Boots team for asking me to be guest designer this week. It really is a great honour!

Please hop over to the Craft Boots blog to see all the other wonderful DT creations and entries. It would be lovely to see your 'take' on this theme!

Thanks for stopping by today and I'd love to hear any comments you have!

Beccy's Place at Crafts Galore Encore

Hello Crafty Friends!

Oh My Goodness! ... it's September already - I can't believe how fast time flies.

The beginning of September means it's time for a new challenge at
Crafts Galore Encore.

This month the theme is "Anything Goes" and we are sponsored by the wonderful
 Beccy's Place.

As usual, the winner will be picked at random, and will receive one set of stamps from Beccy's Place and also there will be 5 DT Picks of the Month who will receive our badge of special recognition. We would love for you to join in the fun! You can make anything you like - it doesn't have to be a card, and you can use any supplies and products ... so what are you waiting for?

Oh yes, here is what I made.

I used the lovely Shabby-Chic Birdhouse image from Beccy's Place to make two different cards.

This card is more vintage/shabby chic in style:

I coloured the image with Spectrum Noir markers, then fussy cut it and mounted it onto a stitched rectangle. The rectangle was die cut, then stamped with script in Vintage Photo and inked with Picked Raspberry and Crushed Olive whilst the die was left in place - this left an un-inked border. The fussy cut image was mounted on foam pads.
The background boardwalk paper is a Carta Bella digital download. This was mounted onto black card. Three pieces of ivory lace were added.  Pink pearl strands were added along the top edge of the middle lace. Paper die cut flowers were colour washed in Picked Raspberry, and were shaped and ,when dry, pearls added to their centres. Die cut leaves, inked in Bamboo Leaves, were also added, along with a chipboard bird on a branch that was coloured with inks and then had iridescent medium applied on top.

This card has a more clean and modern look:-

The image was again coloured with Spectrum Noir markers and fussy cut. This time it was mounted onto a stitched rectangle that had been inked in Rosebud and had water droplets blotted on to it. The background paper is from the Nitwit collection, Time for Tea, and this was matted onto black card. White cotton lace was adhered to the left hand side and flowers and foliage were attached. The flowers were made from white card, cut with a  Heartfelt Creations Majestic Blooms die, then colour washed and shaped. The foliage is part of the  Bird on a Branch die from Marianne Designs.

Please pop to over to Crafts Galore Encore to see the DT's wonderful designs.
We'd love to see your creations.

 Thanks for stopping by today.
